hey mike, not meaning to change the topic too much, but do think what philbin intends to run here will fit well with manning?? it seems like a great fit with us playing on grass, and a wco which will get the ball out quick and hopefully keep manning upright.

I would be shocked if we landed manning just don't see it happening I'm pretty sure philbin and Ireland are going to push Flynn well see if Ross just does whatever he wants and if manning even wants to come here. I would think the Texans would be a way better fit for manning in a division he already knows with a qb that's also coming off a injury so its a easy plug in.

That would mean no M Williams and likely an unreal amount of money tied up in QBs. Dont know what Shaub makes. They do have Yates too, who played well.

He has already done a nice job in hiring a coach that is well respected offensively and universally, the combination of Philbin and Sherman, with that scope of experience, has to be quite alluring to the ultra cerebral Peyton Manning..advantage Miami

Whether they are a pro bowler, hall of famer, or back up, their previous performance on the field has no statistical significance to their longevity after surgery.

It all comes down to an intense throwing session and a physical, and it has.to happen before the draft..

People should only blame Ireland if he is the reason Peyton chooses another team over us. Hopefully that isn't the case. If Peyton comes here and plays poorly, I won't blame Ireland. I've said this in many other threads but I will never blame Ireland for missing on a QB. I'll blame him only for not trying or doing nothing to upgrade the position (see: Last year). If Peyton comes here and performs well I will applaud Ireland for finally doing something to address the QB position. But I'll expect him to draft Peyton's successor sooner rather than later. Failure to do that would be the only thing I would hold against Ireland if he lands Peyton Manning.

Quarterback is a different position than Offensive Guard.

What's worse, if we don't get him, for whatever the reasons are, it'll be Ross/Ireland's fault. There are 100 reasons why we don't get him (if that should happen) and probably 50 of those are because Manning wanted something else and 50 of those reasons are because of anything that Ross/Ireland did negatively in the negotiations, but fans will blame Ross/Ireland....

I just don't want to hear, as he's announced as a NY jest in their PC, that Ireland wanted him to do one-armed pushup's or that he wanted the bubble inflated all the time so that he could practice during the offseason and Irish told him they wouldn't do that for him...

Naturally the worse case scenario is that he signs with the jests and takes them to the SB, whether or not he's anywhere close to the Manning of 2010....

I see you are really trying to stretch the medical facts in an attempt to make this look like Peyton has more of a chance than others of playing into his 40s.

Then again, the OG doesn't have to worry too much about how strong and/or consistent his grip is on the football in order to perform his job....

Yeah, I'm with ya Monst...I'd even go so far as to give him a bye on last year because of the lockout and screwy FA...

not playing into his 40's. but playing out a normal HOF career. namely 2 or 3 more seasons.

Let me know when you have a study of the injury history, post surgery, of this particular injury in quarterbacks.

I don't believe that is an issue.

I don't think Manning will end up with the Dolphins either. I would love to see him here but I just don't think Ross and Ireland have what it takes to pull off this signing. I see him eventually signing with the Cardinals, Jets, Redskins, or Seahawks.

As far as teams in the Colts division. I see the Titans being a more realistic suitor for Manning than the Texans. Manning played at the University of Tennessee and I think going back to Tennessee and playing before many of the same fans he played before while in college, would be something that might entice him to sign with the Titans. He would also get the opportunity to play the Colts and Andrew Luck, twice a year. The Texans are in a much better situation at QB than the Titans and I just don't see the Texans having much interest in going after Manning.

I think the Dolphins will most likely blow it with Manning and the Dolphins next year will likely end up with Matt Moore as the starter again. I think a lot of people think that Philbin will want the Dolphins to sign Flynn. While that is a possibility, it would not surprise me in the least if Philbin just isn't that high on Flynn. I guess we will have to wait until Manning signs with another team and then we will all see how interested in Flynn the Dolphins really are.

Right now though, I see Moore as the starter next season with the Dolphins drafting one of the second tier QB's in the second or third round. I don't believe any of these second tier QB's will ever be quality starters in the NFL, so I suspect that the Dolphins will still be searching for their QB of the future when the 2013 draft rolls around next year.

If that is Jeff Ireland's answer to our QB situation, then I would hope Stephen Ross would promptly fire him at the end of what would most likely be another 5-11 or 6-10 season.
