WOW. they did this a full month before the draft? this is crazy 2 first rounders plus extra picks.. quite the price for RGIII
Rams get 2 future #1s plus additional picks. That's not a bad haul. If the Browns are smart, they'll take Blackmon at 4, and Weeden at 22. That would be pretty cool if that duo could go to the same team. Heck, the Brownies may even become my #2 team if that happened.
Ehhh if they gave up that much we'd have had to give at least a swap plus 2 firsts and 2 seconds.. all for RGIII? Not sure i'd be too thrilled
Wow, RG3 had better have a near HOF career (at least) for that cost in picks. I wonder how Skins fans are feeling? A mix of excitement and unease I'd guess. I think Washington should have waited and let the crowd thin out a bit before making a deal with the Rams. If the Browns got Flynn for example and we got Peyton, they could have dictated terms to the Rams and gotten away with a first, second and third rounder in 2013.
Wow. Never seen a trade this early in the offseason. Good for them. The Redskins don't like draft picks anyway.
Wow, that's just ridiculous compensation. If that's what it would have cost us to move up there, Im glad were sticking to Manning or Flynn, or whoever may be available at #8 for us. No offense then, but thank God we employ Jeff Ireland as our GM.
Yeah, that could be very good start to the 2012 draft for them. How often is a top WR paired with his QB from college? Pretty rare I'd guess. Weeden could start right away for them and Colt would be decent as a #2 QB. No way the Browns come close to a team I'd cheer for though.
The Skins 1st this year of course, #6 overall, plus 1sts the next two drafts, and a 2nd. The Dolphins would have had to trump that though. Who knows how much more it would have cost to outbid the Skins. That said, I wish we were getting RG3 more than Manning. It would be nice to have our own potential franchise QB to hopefully shore up the position for the next ten years.
Yup and if RG is a bust......Washington is going to be a laughingstock with no first picks for years.
I just like Weeden. His demeanor kind of reminds me of good ol' Dandy Don Meredith, one of my favorite players from my childhood days.
There's a fine line between balls, and pants on head mental illness. See: Cincinnati Bengals and Oakland Raiders.
If he's a franchise Qb its a good trade, people seem to think that trading for an elite Qb talent is easy, this is about what I expected a team to give up for RG3. The Skins have balls I'll give them that, we've stood pat for over a decade and let the draft fall to us and we have squat to show for it so maybe a move like this is necessary every now and then.
Most everyone thought if we could have traded that much to move up and get Luck, also an unproven rookie, that it would have been great.
I disagree, I think RG3 will prove to be worth every one of those picks. The only good thing I see from this trade is that RG3 will not be in the AFC, so the Dolphins will not have to worry about playing against him if they ever make the playoffs again. If they end up meeting the Redskins in the Super Bowl in the future, I'll worry about RG3 at that time. I comment the Redskins for doing what was necessary to get the player they wanted in the draft. It would be nice to have an ownership and a front office staff with the Dolphins which would be this proactive in regards to moving up and getting a real impact player in the draft.
Gonna have to disagree brother. This trade reaks of desparation to save face after being jilted by Manning. Why else make the trade this early other than to appease the mob? Snyder came to the table dsparate and left without his pants plain and simple. Kudos to STL for smelling blood in the water.
I have no problem with you disagreeing with me. I just think that RG3 is going to be a true franchise QB in the coming years and the fans in Miami will be regretting that the Dolphins didn't do everything possible to get RG3. Of course with the Redskins drafting before the Dolphins this year and the two additional first round picks in later years, I do realize that it would have been very difficult for the Dolphins to make a better offer to the Rams. I just have to wonder how all those individuals who were glad Fisher didn't take the job in Miami feel about him now. The Rams now have five first round selections over the next three years. The talent on the Rams right now is not nearly as bad as their record showed this past season. They just had a lot of key injuries during the season and the former HC lost the team during the season. With all these top draft picks in the next few years and with Fisher as the HC of the team, I see them being a definite playoff team real soon. I think the Redskins made a great trade to move up and get RG3, but I also think Fisher did a great job of holding out until he could get enough picks to rebuild his team with quality young talent over the next three years.
