Listening to some guys discuss this on the Sirius NFL channel it sounds like the owner is pandering to the fans. I can't picture Manning going there based on these guys saying the GM and coaches have already made it public that they aren't interested in Manning. They could be wrong, but they didn't see it as a likely scenario.

This is what I dont understand:
AZ has weather and good WR but poor OL and NFC
Den has bad weather but no real #1 but decent line and AFC....

MIA has: Weather, WR, OL and AFC!!! Why are we a distant 3rd without a visit??

Yeah idk. You would think it'd be the opposite.

Funny how we went from front runner favorites per EVERYONE to hardly even in the contest... if at all...

I really hope something goes down.... this s**t is driving me insane...... i'm hoping reggie wayne plays a big part in this too... Marino as well.... they CAN play heavy influence but..... thus far have contributed nothing... atleast thats what it seems like.... although things like that can't really go public

If we don't even get a visit, then it's clear that something is wrong with this organization.

Whether it's fair or not, Ross and Ireland are doing "something" that is turning off people with options.

The Dolphins should never, ever be locked into life or death biding wars with teams the like of STL Rams and cardinals yet here we are.

I can rationalize not getting Peyton from a football standpoint, but what is much more disturbing is that we're becoming a paraiah team, like the Browns and Bills.

If I believed everything I read in the press, then it doesn't look good for us. At this point I'm just going to wait and hear what Peyton has to say when he makes his decision.

How possible is it that there is much more going on than is being reported between the phins and PM? Heard something about movement regarding Ross private jet this am.

Schefter knows what what the internet says, not Peyton Manning. When PM says its over then its over till then its got to still be up in the air.

What I'm dying to know is are the Dolphins getting completely snubbed by Manning, or are they just not as interested as we thought? If it's the latter, obviously a much easier pill to swallow. If he doesn't even need to meet with us to know he doesn't want to come here then the perception of the Miami Dolphins is truly awful. The fact that he would rather displace Tim Tebow and become part of that drama rather than play here where he would be embraced by (almost) the entire fanbase is shocking to me. Something is seriously wrong with our organizational structure. However, I'll hold off blaming Ross / Ireland until we know his decision and why he made it.

He also says that Payton knows the city, the players, and the facility from his last SB. So perhaps a "visit" is not as necessary as a conversation. Thats also assuming Schefter is not just playing the game. You know the "keep tuned in for the latest" game.

I don't buy that we may have never been interested. We were very interested. It was reported for weeks that we were high on Peyton. He's a star QB and we need a QB and Ross loves stars and has a blank check.

    I don't know what happened.

It will be very easy for the dolphins to come out and say "we weren't interested" after Peyton signs elsewhere.

Won't make it the truth, or even particularly believeable

You trust this front office to not spin this? Ross publicly stated WERE ALL IN, the media was all over it and now are they going to say hey we never wanted manning were going after someone else screams of spin.. They wont say we got snubbed cause we suxs..

  22. Larryfinfan

    Larryfinfan 17-0...Priceless Club Member

One side of me agrees with you... On the other side, there have been mitigating circumstances to justify all of Ross's blunders...

I mean, we can't (neither can any other team, really) offer Manning what Denver can... They were close enough last season to get into the PO's, they play in a weak division, they have lots of cap space and an owner willing to spend, a decent roster and a solid, albeit not spectacular coaching staff. And he's friends with Elway...

Fisher was never coming here. StL offered much, much more than we could give him...A QB, an average roster other than QB, an owner who stays out of the mix and better draft pick for this year at least. Oh, and full autonomy to boot.

Harbaugh was never coming here. He wanted to stay on the WC and knew that SF was going to need a coach and that possibly Oakland as well....

Just being the devil's advocate here, but there are reasons that are legit as to why things haven't worked out for Ross, other than his own ineptitude...

The problem I have with all this is that there is more reason to hate on Ross than on Irish and whoever has been the coach thruout all this. There is where our disdain should be directed. When it's the owner who shoulders the blame, there is something wrong with the owner...(See Jim Irsay)...

Appearing on SportsCenter Monday morning, ESPN's Adam Schefter said repeatedly that free agent Peyton Manning will not be taking any more visits.

"It sounds like he was two-and-done. Manning visited Denver and Arizona over the weekend, and they are the frontrunners to sign him. "The Broncos look like the favorites," Schefter said. "The Cardinals are in contention. There might be one more team, like the Dolphins, he'll wind up talking to." In other words, don't look for Manning to visit Miami's facility. That doesn't remove the Dolphins from contention, but they're certainly behind the other teams. Ultimately, we don't blame Manning at all for passing on one of the league's most dysfunctional and shortsighted front offices."

This burns deep down man, 17-0, Marino, Shula to this.

Are we even getting a visit from him or not? I find it so funny that up until Thursday we were considered the favorites by everyone, then he visits Denver and that little weasel Elway and then goes to Arizona all of a sudden because he visited them they are the front runners. Does anyone think that no matter where he visited they would have been the frontrunners at that moment? These so called experts only say what they feel will best benefit themselves. What a freakin joke they are.

When you put yourself out there over and over and never come through, the perception of you as incompetent is going to be valid, even if there are a multitude of other reasons why bad things may have happened.

Maybe not fair, but reality. and the only way to change that perception is to either come through on something or start winning.

Newest rumor care of Ben Volin: Manning not spooked by choppers alone but rather the fear that the would follow him to his home. Thas why he pulled over in a parking lot for the interview. Makes some sense but would hate to think that him having a home in Mia is a liability!

I tried to warn people to brace themselves for this. Soften the blow so to speak but no one listens.
Now come the pitchforks and the torches targeted at Ross and Ireland.

Dolphin fans are the best knee jerkers in sports.

SMH, Even thinking of going after Peyton was a huge mistake, but I think we got really hurt simply because the media decided we were the frontrunners and now that they are wrong we have to face the brunt of that.

Maybe the new coach is not at all in favor of changing his offense for a couple of years just to have to change it back. I have never heard him say he wanted Manning. We all know Ross wants him to fill the stadium, but if we start winning, the stadium will get filled.

What are they talking about? Jeff Ireland has done an excellent job by signing and drafting Top Tier talent ever since his hiring in 2008 and Steve Ross is one of the best, most liked owners in all of sports. We honestly couldn't be in better hands, you guys.

Although conversely Lebron can Bike to the arena without incident. Does Lebron have a home in Mia? Perhaps if this is an issue its more because of the family of which Lebron has none. No wife/kids i mean.

You blame them? Colts tanked a whole season to get their new face of the franchise. Redskins cough up 5 draft picks including two 1st rounders for franchises future. What are we going to ultimately do? Well, we are going to offer Joe the plummer around 60 million for 5 years of solid backup qb play. Green bay's sloppy seconds, grade A benchwarmer making Cassel money. Lovely

He has moved his entire family down here this year, and Wade's kids are down here as well. No offense to Manning but if people arn't camped outside Lebron's home then I doubt it'll be a problem for him.

The ESPN centric and eastern seabord dominated media clearly has it out for this franchise. They think our fanbase sucks as evident by how much hate the Heat continues to receive, and they are basking in the fallen glory of the Miami Dolphins. I suggest we all start avoiding the Shefters of the world, who cleary has a vandetta against the team.

As stated previously, we never had a chance at Fischer who stepped in to a draft goldmine and franchise QB, and Harbaugh, who was never leaving the left coast.

The only mistake made by Ross was not firing Sparano before going after Harbaugh.

I wonder if the media will use the same amount of hatred towards Denver or Arizona, given that one (or perhaps both) of those teams will fail at getting Manning, and in doing so will put their "franchise" QB in the same exact boat Sparano was put in. Doubtful.
