Not really at you, just in general. Neither side should be talking as of yet. You have Sanchez, we want Manning.
If Miami can get Manning and have him play like he did before he got hurt, AND draft a future QB to groom while Manning is there, it would a great move. It's just a lot of "ifs". A lot of Jets fans have given up on Sanchez, but they still didn't want to take the Manning risk. Maybe the Brett Farve disaster is still fresh in our minds. I think Henne is better than you guys gave him credit for. I'd have no problem with him coming to NY and competing with Sanchez. I thought Henne looked much improved before he went down last year.
Fair enough. We do have Sanchez, but that doesn't mean the fanbase is happy about that. But the majority did not want Manning and I am surprised as many of you guys want to take the risk that comes with him. Anyway, good luck.
Personally, I do not want Manning at all. I agree with the Jets fans in that case. Him turning us down is blessing in disguise, imo. As for Henne, I think he will get another chance to start one day. John Beck did. Rex Grossman did. Alex Smith did. So will Chad Henne. Maybe that can be with NY.
I would not count on Sanchez seeing any competetion for the starter job this season, not after they extended his contract. He gets at least one more season to prove himself.
http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000...-isnt-all-it-seems?module=HP11_headline_stack Very good article, i will take that deal, makes me feel much better!
Mr. T should take a bow for this one. Sanchez gets that $10 million bonus only if he leads Jets to FOUR SUPPER BOWLS in FIVE SEASONS. How could Sanchez's reps let him sign such a nonsense bonus. Can this be right? http://www.nfl.com/news/story/09000d...headline_stack Quote:

The New York Jets' decision to extend the contract of Mark Sanchez was met with derision by many, but like the plot of a Spanish soap opera, it takes time to figure out what's going on. Sanchez signed a three-year extension with the team on Friday, but he wasn't significantly richer or more secure when he woke up on Monday morning. In 2012, Sanchez will make the same money ($11.75 million) he was set to earn before the extension. The difference is how it pays out: According to NationalFootballPost.com, Sanchez will now receive an $8 million signing bonus and a $3.25 million guaranteed salary, along with an offseason workout bonus of $500,000. The bonus is spread over the five remaining years of the deal, saving $6.4 million against the Jets' cap. In 2013, Sanchez goes from a non-guaranteed $6 million to a guaranteed $8.75 million. The guarantee is nice, though it would have taken an epically bad season (think Blaine Gabbert, only more abject terror) for the Jets not to bring him back in the final year of his original deal. All told, Sanchez will get $20.5 million guaranteed compared to $17.75 million of non-guaranteed money over the next two years. It's a "measly" raise of $2.75 million. The rest of the deal is non-guaranteed, meaning the Jets can cut ties whenever they like. If Sanchez puts it together and becomes the quarterback they hope for, the Jets will have him under their control for three additional seasons at a discount rate. This was smart business. Finally, there's a surreal aspect to the extension in the form of an escalator that can reach a cool $10 million if Sanchez leads the Jets to four Super Bowl titles in the next five seasons. Of course, the Jets haven't been to a Super Bowl -- let alone won the damn game -- in 43 years. If Sanchez led the charge on a four-peat, the world would collapse into itself before the final check changed hands. The Jets are geniuses. I rest my case. I win.

It Gives you no flexibility in the next 2 seasons. For your next 32 games, Mark Sanchez is your qb, guaranteed...all in. No cutting, too big a cap hit. They could have cut ties right now. 3 years from now, on the start of that 33rd game, well we can discuss that then.
LOL Sanchez is still your QB Rex Ryan and Tony Sparano are still on your staff. Your team is in freefall. Your mom had sex with her dad and you were the result. You survived an abortion attempt, thus explaining the heavy, HEAVY brain damage. You will not and will never win at anything ever.
???? This better be sarcasm, although I suspect that it's not. Jet fans live up to the stereotype every chance they get. LOL.
I could have let you keep looking like a fool, but I won't. I'll help you out. YES, all monies paid count against the cap. Any guaranteed money in the form of a bonus however, can be prorated out through the life of the contract, BUT IT COUNTS against the cap. Don't be a stereotype. Although the stereotype of Jet fans, needs the occasional boost, don't contribute to it. Have some respect for yourself.
Poor Vinny. Please tell me you are old enough to remember the Islander dynasty of the early 80's. That was an amazing team (that I hated).
I remember them and I also remember when the Rangers beat them @ madison SQ Garden knocking them out of the playoffs in the 80's.
Mike Ricther was my hero when I used to play goal. One of the greatest goalies ever, IMO. never given enough credit.
I went to a luncheon after an open practice back in 1992 or 1993. They had the players seated at various tables. I had to wait in line to get my picture taken with Messier and the prick isn't even looking at the camera. Mike Richter was walking by my table and I told him how good I thought he was. He smiled, thanked me, and then asked me if I wanted to have my picture with him. I said, "You bet!" He put his arm around me, smiled, and looked right into the camera. He instantly became my favorite Ranger
...Penguins still only 4 points behind the Rangers while missing two of their best players. You guys better hope that happens. Cause we get Sid and LeTang back and you guys are in trouble. We have your number in the playoffs as it is. Just do us a favor and knock Philly out before we take care of you.
Peyton Manning has a better chance of playing a full season than Crosby. Guy is made out of egg shells. -Ed-
Not even a little. My 3 best Isles memories are Bates Penalty Shot, THe Isles Pens massacre and the Dubie Pokecheck.
They said the same thing about Lemiuex. What a wuss, let a lilttle thing like herniated discs and cancer keep him out of the lineup.
Seriously? I know it was a bad year for the Jets and the locker room stuff was ridiculous. But the only thing that makes me feel the slightest bit better is how your offseason is going so far. And I'm hoping you get Manning!
The difference is Bick, we all have realized the team and the front office are a joke and a laughing stock, and have no high hopes whatsoever of winning anything in the near future. Go to Jet message boards however, and the vast majority still think the Jets are superbowl caliber....all the way up to your coach. We stopped drinking the kool aid.
