Secret location? REALLY? What the hell is going on here? What does this say about Miami fans, media, and our organization? I'd love to hear everyone's thoughts on this new development
I'm not sure I understand what you are saying here. I get that alot of fans are blaming our owner and GM for the state of the team, and I guess even for not being able to sign Manning, but how does that relate to my original post? Why a "secret" meeting? I think that is insulting. Complete BS and what does it imply?
This is what strikes me as odd while I read this news. You know what I'm having trouble expressing it in words. It just seems odd that you would tell people there is a secret meeting. Doesn't that make it not secret? And why not just say you will be meeting and not say where? People would just assume it was the Dolphin facility.
More likely the ****** who wrote the blurb added "secret location" because they thought it sounded more interesting than "meeting at an undisclosed location."
Dude, Mando has been reporting for days the Dolphins Facility has been on lock down, so since they can't get in, they are going to Ross' treehouse for peanut butter and banana sandwiches. SSSSHHHHHH don't tell!!!!!!!!!!
It says the South Florida media is a bunch of sensationalist journalists as proven when they followed Manning so lets go somewhere where they cant find us.
It shows me Manning is serious about us. Think about it: If Manning wanted to avoid the media here why not just....not meet with us? The fact that he went out of his way and presumably had us go out of ours says something.
This is potentially a huge signing and the media has ripped us for 3 days about our fading chances and inability to get any interest from Manning. How can the media get so much wrong and talk so much trash?
WHY? Do they have bugs in the room? If they do have bugs in the room, so what! I just don't get it at all. I'm sure some of it is just my general frustration with the hype around signing Manning, but this "secret" meeting really rubbed me wrong. There's nothing wrong with us meeting him elsewhere, but sneaking around and especially running around like a dog with our tail between our legs is horsecrap.
Why is this a big deal? Secret meeting or public meeting, isn't the important thing that they met? Why the big outrage for the meeting being secret?
It tells me that the offseason sucks and everyone is so starved for football that they are willing to make a big deal out of nothing
They thought it sounded interesting. To get more people to read bull****. Doesn't really matter and it could of been for any reason. Maybe Peyton had to be in Indy and we wanted the meeting done before tomorrow so we went there instead of waiting for him to come back here. Who knows. I know he's seen our stadium a bunch of times so it doesn't mean anything imo.
It means they don't care what the masses think and all the posts and temper tantrums in the world won't change their minds on how they want to run things.
It just seems childish to me. Everyone expected them to meet, but most the drama created over the last few days is a result of how they handled the Manning meeting. Seems like they want to create drama.
i really would have no answer what this would say about the miami fan base.....???, anyways it shows to me the FO wasnt ready to do this on the last minute before FA starts, talk to to him, sleep over it make an assumption and move on
Or that he would like to be able to take a crap without a helicopter hovering over the toilet trying to see if the turd matches a teams logo. Id also like to say that if Manning is afraid of media pressure it's no wonder his brother has more superbowl rings. I guarantee you Manning does not mind the scrutiny.
It was in Indy, as per espn... I know a lot of people call them bull**** but locations are diff then speculation
I find it frustrating that the last few days we've been battered by the media from head to toe and had misinformation feed to us by the handful. This isn't a typical FA signing, its potentially one of the biggest impact FA signings in NFL history, ranks right up there with the Reggie White signing. I suppose I would have expected it to be handled differently. I guess I shouldn't be surprised though seeing how things have gone on between our FO and the media. The Broncos and Cards got media hand jobs all week talking about how great they are while everyone took pot-shots at the Dolphins. I hate that crap.
That attitude hasn't worked real well for anyone in Miami lately. Wonder who the next GM and staff will be if they feel like you say. The media steam-rolled us the past 3 days and insulted our franchise while they poured out misinformation. A bunch of unnecessary drama was created the way this was handled on many fronts.
Much ado about nothing IMO. Don't recall intimate details being published or released about his meetings with the Broncos or Cardinals. Why should we be any different. Really people, take 2 valium and relax. As my Proctologist once told me "don't worry, it'll all be over soon"
Quite the opposite actually, Mike. They were likely attempting to avoid drama. It's exactly what Boik said it is IMO.
why? it's none of our business how they conduct their business. so now that it is insulting it will feed the frenzy and our FO will become even more of a joke... welcome to the world of immediate information and privacy violation.
I agree. I'm not sure what the deal is here, especially since he has a place in Miami. He went to Denver, and then about 20 minutes from me to meet the Cardinals in AZ.
But what about Denver? 95 percent stuff and all that was revoked. Their media was falsifying things as well. Supposedly manning never called them after his AZ showing.
Cardinals definitely did. Living in AZ it's sickening. Heard it all on the sports radio shows here. Just have to wait it out I guess. Problem is you can't wait too many more hours because you got Flynn hitting FA soon. My gut says they didn't want to wait much longer to meet with him since FA starts soon and they got other decisions to be making soon...Flynn and free agents in general. If they get a good vibe they wait, bad vibe and they swiftly move along. Why they had to fly and meet him somewhere though is beyond me. Unless it would have just been faster...that's all I have on this situation.
Take a breath people and then breathe thru a brown bag! I find it a plus that our visit with Peyton was all business and with those he will interact with IF he plays here, everything else is just fluff! We ran our race, he'll pick us or he won't and we'll move on!
this. The media has always been full of ****. I don't understand why this is a new revelation to anyone, as well as why anyone wouldn't be at least a bit skeptical about most reports.
Dolfanmike, it says that we as fans need to chill out and stop badgering and pestering Manning as this is what is going to be a thorn in our sides. He doesn't want all the cameras and media following his every move just yet. So to keep everyone else out of it and not tell them is a very SMART thing to do. Kudos to Manning and the coach for this.
You know what, you all need to stop this crap. Everyone in here acts and feels like someone owes you something, they don't! Let the damn team do what they need to do and then move on, everyone here thinks they know what is best for the team and think they are GM's or owners, guess what? You are not! You all are fans "just like me" and I get caught up in all the hype and hoopla as well but eventually I figured out that all the speculation and B.S. spurted in here and other sites if precisely the reason Manning and the coach do not want us to know. Jesus, we have people in here making predictions, telling the F.O. what they need to do, making quotes that they have no business doing, it is just confusing and complicating things. It is what it is and we will soon know what is going on and what direction we will be taking. Until then just chill out.
