I was excited when we signed Marshall. I thought it would give our offense a shot in the arm. It didn't. He may be great, but he did precious little for us and if you look at his stats the past two years, his salary, plus his off field troubles, I'm not sure we could have gotten more for him.
Sure you can. Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz being two obvious ones. It isn't difficult to find players of Marshall's caliber if you want to spend $10M/yr. The team could go sign Vincent Jackson for close to Marshall's salary, and net two 3rd rounders in the process. I wouldn't do that though. Not much cap relief this season. But cap relief in future seasons. This was an opportunity to get out of the contract with little ramifications. Had we decided to cut him next offseason it would have been disastrous.
There is no defense for Ireland or Ross now. If anyone wants to step up and defend thsese two complete morons be my guest. I know a lobotomist that can help you.
Call it how you want to but he is a underachiever as a "elite WR" never liked him and he's always been a diva. Dude has done his share to bring bad attention to this franchise and I think the new regime wanted him gone plain and simple. He can go drop td's in Chicago all he wants now
If we can grab Vincent Jackson, it will soften the blow. If we grab Reggie Wayne...it will make it worse.
Hell, I think we had some of our best games the last two years on offense were without Marshall on the field
I think people know I bash Ireland a lot...but I'm waiting on this one. I liked Marshall but didn't love him. I like the 1000 yards, I dont like the dropped TDs that turned into FGs or the unpredictability of him and his bad temper. And if it gets us Manning, who we know does not like diva players? Then I will love the move. Right now i'm indifferent. Part of me wants to bash it and them, part of me doesn't. We'll see I guess.
There's a reason why Marshall has been traded twice in the middle of his prime. Good luck with that, Bears.
Amazingly enough when Miami stopped targeting Marshall when they got to the red zone is when Miami started scoring TDs.
This move is only bad as a stand alone, or because you could have possibly gotten a bit more for him. But if this move is leading to something more, I can live with it. Marshall is a great talent, but i got tired of his constant underachieving. I doubt he'll have the impact the Bears are hoping for.
Aside from buying high and selling low, I am not at all sorry to see BM gone. Too many drops and tantrums for me. Besides, as has been suggested, it could be a sign of bigger/better things to come.
I'm starting to get tired of the Miami fans more than anything, never happy and always *****ing like females on the rag. Chill out and see what happens or gtfo and go cheer for the Jest. We are obviously trying to make a move so let's see what happens before we kill ourselves
K I was freakin out a bit at first. But there HAS to be something in the pipe for this to happen. Just wish we woulda got a bit better for him. I'll reserve the lynch mob for the time being.
Unless we have something to point to at the end of this fiasco, as to say this is why BM had to go..... it should be the end of the FO. No reason to buy high and sell low unless ur buying something else low that will skyrocket. (sry been a broker)
Whilst I'm not that upset about this trade, pending what happens, Dolphins have not earned the right to have people trust in them. Everything they have done for what seems like a lifetime, is constantly disappoint its fanbase. They have to earn that trust. Dolphins fan should be in full "show-me" mode.
We just got rid of our best offensive weapon, and all Rireland wants to say is that it's got nothing to do with Manning?...yeah, thanks
1. Sign Peyton, Wayne and Winston. 2. Trade 1st rounders w/PIT and sign Mike Wallace. 3. Peasants rejoice.
Dolphins traded 2 second round picks for two years of Marshall and 2 thirds.. I guess its not THAT big of a mess up. Or maybe Im just rationalizing.
How many td's did that great offensive weapon produce for us?? Not very many if you ask me. The more we stopped targeting Marshall the more we started to score. I love having a 1,000 wr and big target but if he ain't making the easy catches or scoring td's then he isn't worth the trouble
odds are that move is going to be a RT. Because Ireland has no ****ing balls. I have every right to ***** about this ****ty FO.
I hate to nitpick, but this is something that professionally I am quite close to. I dont recall his specific diagnosis but I think it was bi polar. Easily controlled with meds but more to the point far, FAR from "CRAZY"!! That word just p** me off. You have no issues? let me reflect back on your posts and diagnose.
Gotta agree, he was a red-zone target who sucked at the fade, go figure. At least he gave us some insight into just how crazy *****es can get...BPD, lol, what'll they think of next
Thank God. Brandon Marshal is the biggest punk azzz wipe in the NFL. I may not be a fan of Ireland but have to Thank him on this one. Marshal can take his punk act somewhere else now and I for one am happy about it. Goodbye Brandon, you should have never been here in the first place. Lets see who signs the overweight elephant known as Vernon Carey now. I cannot believe people are actually missing Marshal with his oil soaked hands, punk attitude and the rest of his circus show. And we wonder why South Florida has become a joke ? LMAO, this is why, people actually miss Marshal. He can be replaced in a heartbeat at a fraction of the cost. He would have been on a team run by Shula for , oh, about 3 minutes.
Oh come on, the NFL probowl is one step above MTV's Rock & Jock games of the early 90's, and that's only because, up to this point, the NFL hasn't allowed Billy Baldwin and Flava Flav out onto the field. Putting any stock in Marshall's probowl performance is silly. This is a great trade, no other team was going to be foolish or desperate enough to give up the goods for a troubled WR that undermines his teammates and coaches and who makes more headlines off the field than on, like we were. We should be ecstatic that we rid this team of a cancer, someone who is reportedly scaring off potential free agents. This is the first good move Miami has made in quite a while.
