Being in the majority of fan opinion isn't something to be proud of. Still as a Dolphin Brandon never had 100 catches. If Miami does get a good quarterback or a decent line that can block for Matt Moore, then I have little doubt they will have one 1,000 reciever even without adding another receiver.
This crap is screwy I can see trading Marshall to clear room for Manning and Wayne, but why trade Marshall if Manning is not committed to signing with Miami? Honestly how many of us honestly feel that Ireland and Ross blew this gig too? WTH with a secret meeting in Indy? Honestly shouldn't you have brought him around the clubhouse and get the feel of the place? I just know in my heart these guys have screwed this up too painting a bigger black cloud over Miami.
As of now its hard to see this as a plus for Miami. You generally don't get better by trading off your best player, and for a not very good package at that. If they have a plan in place, then the acrimony can die down a bit. If we enter the season with Vjax or Blackmon or someone like that as a replacement I think you can then say we had a plan. As of now? It's just a strange move that clearly sets us back at this moment.
Omar now saying Dolphins are negotiating with Flynn. Does that mean Peyton is out, or getting a deal underway just in case?
What an absolute dumpster fire this team is. 5 years into failure after failure, how does Ireland keep his job?
Jesus, would you ladies all calm down. I swear, you're like my hysterical 8 year old daughter. If he is doing this to sign Manning and Wayne and to clear cap space, it's a tough decision and not fair trade value considering what we paid for him, but try to look at the NET result. If Manning is back to form (big IF), then Manning + Wayne + FA is >>>>>>>>>> Moore + Marshall. Now, if he doesn't sign Manning, then form the lynch mob and BBQ Ireland, I'll join you. But relax until you see how the board is finally laid out when the dust settles.
Do any of you defending this nonsense honestly believe we will draft a player capable of outproducing Brandon Marshall or having a bigger impact on this team with either or both of those 3 round picks? We just got rid of one of the few players on offense defenses had to game plan for.
Considering Miami was 12-18 with BM and Denver went to the playoffs two years after trading BM who was considered their best offensive player is this really so tragic?
thanks for the injection of sensibility Mr C. Overreactions like this make me ashamed to be a dolphins fan. The only solace is that I know the overreaction would be 10x worse on Jets forum
We can't figure it out in Chicago, but thank you Miami. Maybe our X GM Gerry Angelo or Josh McDaniels is part of the Dolphins staff. Sorry guys I love the Fish in the AFC.
For all you guys who say good riddance, why? What qb did we have that can help any WR excel. Getting doubled teamed, almost every ****ing play doesn't sound like he had a chance, add to that a noodle throwing him the ball? Come on guys do you really think this was a GOOD move... Unless there is some seriously huge thing behind this, Jets, Bills, Pats - 1 Dolphins - 0
IMO lot of people aren't looking at the whole picture I love the guy but let's be honest there are some issues with him, on and off the field. While physically he is a top WR I could name 20 WRs off the top of my head that I would rather have relative to his 10mil/yr. And no why are we not going to get another WRthis offseason. Also don't forget about a couple of wrs we have on the roster that could really grow into our new system, Wallace/Moore. Let's at least give the FO a few days in GA before we start to analyze the trade and judge our roster. I know its hard, but we have been through a lot worse.
By outproduce do you mean do more than 167 catches 2,228 yards and 10 TDs in 2 years.....yeah actually I think there will be someone who will be better on this team next year, whether through draft or FA
But you dont trade off your best offensive player for nothing IN THE HOPES that manning might sign. Its just bad business.
I understand why people are upset. It's more about the accumulating failures and disappointments with this one being the straw that broke the camels back, because seriously, this move by itself is not the worse possible move. Marshall is simply not a player you build a team around. He has all the talent in the world, but you cannot count on him to be a franchise player. If they want to rebuild, Marshall is not the player to rebuild with.
I don't find it farfetched at all that Manning had apprehensions working with a problem child like Marshall.
I hope it works out better for you guys than it did for us ... but we had him for two seasons and he didn't get us any closer to the playoffs. I remember when we got him ... all the "experts" were saying how he was the last piece we needed on offense to make us competitive ... two years later we are no more competitive then we were before we got him
Omar's wife locked him in his office. The Dolphins organization is obviously just a psyop. You'd think Philbin could just skype a *****...
I think we need to see the roster we enter training camp with before arranging any lynch mobs for Ireland.
there is no doubt in my mind that one of two things has happened: 1) this is the end & definitive result of the mysterious Indy Meeting & Marshall has been cleared away to make room for the Peyton signing & entourage. if so, we should know sometime tomorrow 2) or this is the most incompetent, stupid, irresponsible ugly, demoralizing, ridiculous move on the part of Miami in fifteen years of very poor & disappointing decisions no more excusesit's simply one or the other
They are. Our offense hasn't been great and we have a losing record. I'm not saying its all BMarsh's fault, I'm just saying those yards didn't help us to anything worthwhile.
Thats wishful thinking. I live in the present. Marshall with his age and a decent QB WOULD and DOES get the stats. You say we will have a 1000yd reciever without adding anybody. Whos going to get 1000yds at WR with who we have? Hartline? Bess? We need a #1 WR. end of. Its a passing league.
This is the right play. Miami is following the blueprint of the Packers. Get young, high character, hard working guys who play the game the right way. Reports are Flynn works his *** off. He knows the system. Chances of landing Manning don't look all that solid. Keeping Moore as the starter almost guarantees around 6 or 7 wins. How many QBs does Marshall have to sometimes subtly and sometimes not-so-subtly throw under the bus before fans realize he is detrimental to building a winning team and not a necessity?
No offense or anything but we got 6-7 wins with Matt Moore in 9 games... But now all of a sudden that's all we would get? I'm not pro Moore bit that was a silly thing to say
Yes and that's why I'm glad he's gone. Let's wait and see what Ireland does with those two picks before we freak out. Nobody here knows to what extent Marshall was a locker room cancer. Me I'm elated. Can't stand the man and how many balls did Marshall drop in the end zone?
You call it wishful, I call it realistic. If Henne wasn't such a poor quarterback Hartline or Bess would already had a 1,000 season. Plus having a better offensive gameplan, it wouldn't be too hard. Especially since this is a passing league.
Yep, not bad catches and yard tallies to get us within striking distance on drives. But failed to catch anything in the redzone, and resulted in sickening, fist-pumping FGs.
So you want Flynn throwing to Hartline and Fasano? We had better get him some weapons if you are right. The fact Flynn is unproven as a starter doesnt exactly make me confident when weve traded our best reciever away for peanuts.
We have to have a plan for another #1 receiver, we traded for Marshall because we needed a #1. None of our other receivers have proven they can take that role.
