I love that people are trying to justify this trade and giving him the "team cancer" card. We got taken out behind the shed, got whooped down and all our milk money stole from us on this trade. 3 years from now we will probably be laughing about the players we aquired in the draft for the trade. Just disgusting.
Good luck trying to find guys in the third round that produce the equivalent of 167 catches, 2,200 yards and 9 TDs in two seasons. The truth of the matter is that most guys drafted in the third round don't produce half of that in their entire career.
Really? Who? Oh, you meant Brandon Marshall. That's funny. Really. We got pretty much what he's worth.
Are u serious is there a rule we HAVE to use those 3rds on WR to replace BM? We cant use a higher pick or use those picks to trade up? It HAS to be those thirds? come on man.
First of all, why does his replacement have to come from the picks? Maybe those picks allow us to fill a need we would have used a higher pick to fill. Secondly, his great season for us (last year) where he scored all of 6 TDs, well there were over 30 players who scored more. That basically averages out to almost one player per team that scored more than BMarsh.
Bess probably thinks he can chip in considering hr had his wordy year. Maybe Wallace and Moore are ready to step up. Who was GBs stud wr wr 2 yrs ago? Don't say Jennings, I could argue Moore could turn into Jennings and Wallace in a less effective Marshall
I used "cancer" because NFLN is reporting it. Did you read the report on him wishing cutler was his QB on tweeter or FB back in Dec? That possibility could rub the FO the wrong way. I'm not saying that was the reason but it could be part of the reason. While I agree we got the raw end of the deal but if he was being a "cancer" or "malcontent" then it's good we got rid of him.
I doesn't. That's why I used the term "equivalent". That's pretty much besides the point. The point is that the compensation we're getting for Brandon Marshall is highly unlikely to compensate for the lack of production we're not getting anymore. Unless the locker room issues were way more severe than anyone of us knows, there's simply no value in this deal.
It's funny you say that. There isn't a whole lot of daylight between the two based on the stats. Sure, Marshall chewed up more yards with his second team. Where are the TDs? I seem to recall that Marty got exactly the same number of Dolphins TDs in 2005 and 2006 as Marshall did in his two years. Hmm.
As to the bad behavior, didn't he bounce a ball off Vonte Davis' head in the locker room and they had to be separated. Or was this the year before? I just hope there is a plan in place to replace his catches.
This was a fantastic trade!! They got much more than I thought they would be able to get for a selfish, malcontent who has dropped more passes than anyone in the NFL over the past four years combined. This is addition by subtraction. It will be great to not have a receiver out there running his mouth, griping at the quarterback on the sidelines, and flailing his hands all around trying to draw attention to himself. Good riddance to bad rubish! This day cannot get much better. 1. Marshall gets traded. Check. 2. A pediatrician agrees to come work for me. Check. 3. Dolphins possibly bow out of the Manning bidding. Not yet, but they have reached out to Matt Flynn. 4. I got fresh turnip greens with homemade pepper sauce, cornbread, and pork chops for supper tonight. Check.
Clearly there isn't a plan in place. The measure will be whether a plan is devised to do so. My guess is that Miami will do okay based on the free agent market.
I don't understand how the word "equivalent" changes anything. Maybe those two picks get us into the second around again to get a WR that has better numbers. Point is, the production you're talking about isn't all world.
You guys just don't see the master plan. We could turn Brandon Marshall into: 2 3rd Round Offensive/Defensive Linemen! Who wouldn't trade Brandon Marshall for the shot at having two additional John Jerrys on your team!
The master plan is coming together beautifully. The plan to drive wins, success, and the fans from the organization. Then I shall be able to upgrade my season tickets to midfield, front row!!! In a decade or two, after Ross sells and we are winning again...Look who is sitting pretty while retired in sofla? ME. /master plan
If this has been said I apologize. Or the Dolphins are trying to cover themselves and realize that if they lose the Flynn & Manning sweepstakes the better have some picks to offer to move up in the draft to get a QB?
Yeah, considering that Brandon Marshall was the key in so many wins the past two seasons. Oh, wait. Brandon Marshall is a player that has never played in the playoffs.
youre right, UDFA do more Miles Austin Malcolm Floyd Wes Welker Lance Moore OR you could go with Terrell Owens Steve Smith Brandon Marshall was a 4th round selection who is almost as bad as TO...let's not act like Marino just got traded to the Jets back in 1992
BM would not have been a good WR to have around...for either Tannehill or Weeden...who will be our new starting QB...(one of them)...hopes
Talking about any Dolphin player and wins is moot. Its people like you, who will prevent me from breaching the 40 yd line.
I don't give a flying poop if Betty White is throwing him the ball, you don't publicly throw your QB under the bus. And Marshall did that with Henne AND Moore, and on multiple occasions. That **** doesn't fly with Philbin. That is evident and I like it. Be a professional. And I'm a big fan of Marshall.
yep clearly Marshall is the only reason we never win games. I mean what else can I say hes clearly the guy who is always hurt and never on the field. Plus he shows up drunk to practice I mean the guy is just major cancer.
I'm starting to think there is no plan other than rebuild. Maybe they should move into Marlin's Park for the season. The empty orange seats are going to be worse
Given the type of offensive structure and game planning we have been under up until this point as well as personnel available, I don't see this stat as relevant.
I'm very happy to hear this. The Bears got the better end of the deal. One of the main reasons why the Dolphins traded Marshall was because of one man, Darrelle Revis.
He told it like it is! I dont care that he did or did not throw them under the bus. All the dropped TD's a few people keep harping on were the Qb's fault. Now as to Philbin, I sure the hell hope he and the Genius, Jeff Ireland have a plan because the Wr corps for the Miami Dolphins just went from pretty good to pretty damn bad in an instant.
This regime doesn't have time to rebuild, nor do they have to. Ireland won't be around much longer if the wins don't start coming.
