I'm starting to not care anymore. Peyton or no Peyton next year is going to be a rebuild with no legit #1 WR and a suspect running game? Sprinkle in a rookie HC and it's obvious we won't be competing for much next year. I think it's either Denver or Tenessee, with Denver winning

DOnt give up hope yet we aquired some picks for Marshall so whos to say we dont give our #1 and #3 for wallace or something and get Peyton. Were than right back to being a legit playoff team.. 2 Moves guys is all we need this week 2..

Miami went 11-5 without a legit #1, #2 or arguably a #3 receiver. Plus they had a rookie head coach and a suspect running game.

Way too early to think that. We may two solid moves on defense.

Let's see what falls next. There's still a lot of players out there.

Too many variables. If you were Peyton, would Miami be the most attractive team? It gets worse when he realizes we have to face the Jets and Patsies twice each with limited offensive power and a running game that may tank next year. Compared to Denver in a weak division, we are long shots

I'm not saying its impossible, but if we don't get Peyton, where do you think we rank next year in the AFCE? 3rd or 4th???

that's what a good QB will do for u. Pennington has been our best QB since Marino.

Like it or not an Elite weapons at WR or TE gets you far. Not saying we need to spend a first rounder to find quality players but it would be silly to ignore getting threats for the passing game.

Forget Manning. No QB nets us 4th in the AFCE with a top 5 draft pick.

ESPN says that Manning has not ruled out ANY suitors including Miami and is not opposed to taking more visits to new teams if he feels the team is a fit. First somewhat credible thing on ESPN in a while, and you want to know why? The line said "According to Manning". So in his own words we are still in it.

And this to me is starting to become bad news. The longer Miami is held hostage by this, the worse off they're going to be. If the reason they are being so timid in free agency is waiting on Manning this is a disaster.

I don't think we are being timid, we just don't have a lot of cap room. We signed Marshall to fill a need in the secondary (probably FS) and had Winston in for a visit to fill a glaring need at RT, hopefully he signs. Our other major holes are really only QB, WR, and a pass rusher opposite Wake.

In my opinion there aren't any game changing WR's available, Manning/Flynn are your QB options and you wont find a real pass rusher for the amount of cap space we have to spend on one (especially if we sign Winston). Unless we make some cap moves we are a bit handicapped.

I since edited my post, but if you look where I'm quoted in Alex44's post, you can see the age old rule that whenever you pick on someone about bad grammar/spelling you're doomed to make the same mistake(s).

You got to wonder if his visit to Tennessee was an attempt to get Houston out of its hole and into the Peyton Sweepstakes, because I think that's what they mean when they say he is not opposed to any visits to new teams, I really believe Houston is his first choice and everyone is being used as pawns up to the point its abundantly clear they want nothing to do with Peyton, then he will choose between Denver, Tennessee, Arizona and us.

I agree. And it's not just Houston. I think Peyton is really shocked that more, and frankly, better teams aren't interested (SF, Hou, Baltimore, etc.)

I really think Houston is his first choice, has talent, in a division they could outright own for the next few years and a stadium that is much like the one he play in at Indy, inside and favorable conditions.

I think it's time we pull out of these sweepstakes.

I'm all for the youth movement. Bring in Flynn if you think he can lead this team, if not Tannehill or pick up Weeden in the 2nd. Draft a couple of of WR's in the early rounds and let's build an offense from scratch arranged by Philbin and CO.

We may win by subtraction here.. Peyton is probably leaning elsewhere so it's best we move and have a clear focus on what we want to accomplish this year.

Problem is, we're in a weird spot. We have a veteran, expensive, ready to win now defense, but we seem to be completely rebuilding on offense.

If your rookie QB is not ready right away, you waste the best remaining years the defense has left.

This is why I'm not sure I see the plan here.

Do we really even know if other teams have contacted him? Out of the three teams you listed only SF has a need for a QB. The better teams in this league have good QB's in place. Sure Manning would be an upgrade over Flacco or Shaub, but for how long? I'd bet anything that many teams, other than the teams we've heard about, have contacted Manning.

Until Peyton meets with a team twice or flat out says what's on his mind, I don't see how anyone can speculate who is the favorite team to land him.

    I'm over Peyton Manning,
if does sign with Miami, I'm alright with that....
but the entire ordeal has been as revealing as it is exhausting
quick fix usually implies a stop-gap measure
& maybe that's not the direction we need going in right now

still am not convinced on Flynn,
he simply has not demonstrated @ any level he has franchise potential
don't want Philbin/Flynn to turn out to be Sparano/Henne II

would be in favor of Tannehill @ 8 & start Moore in 2012
with an upgraded offensive line, Moore could do well

appears the defense & special teams are flush
need: Offensive Linesman, WR & TE

    not so bad

Gotta take him at #8 if you truly think he's a franchise QB (which I think he is). Can't take the chance of him still being there in the 2nd.

at this point I think an elite wr is pointless without a franchise QB. We've been there and done that and it didn't get us anywhere.

If you went up to a girl to ask her out and she already had a guy she would rather date so she rejected you, did you botch it?

Its said he would have wanted to play in Miami, but he was not comfortable with the front office. They could have done whatever it took to convince him otherwise. But whatever, its nothing different from normal. He went to Denver and was unexpectedly blown away by them, same now with the Titans. Our front office can't do the same, but its not really a surprise I guess. The Heat went from almost losing Wade to gaining LeBron and Bosh & keeping Wade...some sports franchises just have people running the show who know how to convince others of their plans and woo the top players better than other teams. Unless all reports are wrong and he shockingly signs with Miami...doubtful.

Its also odd he went to all the other teams, but the Dolphins had to fly out to him.
