I would be curious as to how some of the dolphins greats are thinking about this ball club. I f anyone finds a aticle i hope you can post it and Iwill do the same. I can honestly say that Jim Jensen Louis Oliver , and Shawn Wooden that they are not crazy about Ireland, I know many of you think that changing coaches hurts our team but so does keeping a bad coach too long. so there is wo sides to every issue but our problems today did not start with Jimmy or Wanny our problems started with Saban and it went really bad when we hired the Tuna and his band of merry men. what we really need is for more dolphin greats to find a owner and get MR. Ross to sell the team but that may be unlikely but it is a posibility. here is the problem and solution. first we spend more money on Columbo like players instead of getting really good players. we never should have passed on Dez , Kendal Hunter and othe rgood players I would rather have Chambers , and Dez and even ocho / chad Johnson then the wr corp we have had for three years or more . just my opinion . we have spent way too much money on the oline and it has kept us from signing a great or really good player. the solution is to draft skill players in the firs tthree rounds and olinemen in the later rounds Levy Adcock and Nick Martinez are goodplayers for depth at oline so there is one solution miami only goes after lessor talent inthe big 12 unlike years back when we found Zach Thomas, Ricky Williams , Hunter Goodwin, Richmond Webb. Daniel Thomas just isnt that good and neither is Bess or Hartline. Miami needs someone with deep pockets to buy the team I would take Wayne Huezinga back anyday . having too many red carpet events also gives us a black eye. and too many celebrities as part owners that are too silent doesnt help either and that my friends kills me and i wont give up on the orginazation but Iam sure as hell pissed a tthe state of the dolphins good night all Aquafin out
I hear Stephen Ross is a reptilian shapeshifter conjured by Jet fans to bury us...It's totally working. It's still not dismissive to say that what they do is still rather remarkable from a sheer physical standpoint. But DUDE, every poster on this board could have steered this organization to clearer waters then this murky mess we now find ourselves in. Most of the front office moves these weasels have gone through with have been counter-intuitive and humiliating to most fans. Thank God, Ireland is beginning to have success by just being himself and pulling a sneaky, underhanded trade with Chicago.
Don't kid yourself. Wayne Huezinga is the reason we're in this mess. He's the guy that cut Parcells the golden parachute deal on his way out the door. Ross has been in charge for 2 years. This franchise has been spiraling downhill for over a decade. My only concern about Ross is why he agreed to pay so much for a weak team.
i could care less what old dolphins think of the organization...what can they do about it? nothing..the old blow hards from the 70's always take shots at the team these days...i could care less what they say...unless they can fix it, shut it...they don't help by spewing forth the same regurgitated crap "they need a qb" "they need a coach" thanks sherlock
If 90% of the fanbase thinks what they're doing is stupid, then I've never been more confident that we're on the right track.
Excuse me. Our problems did not start with Wanny? Did I really read that? Is this some kind of revisionist history?
Jeff Laurie / Philadelphia Eagles. Winning NFL teams are a great investment. Mkae a winner and there won't be enough room on the bandwagon.
Make no mistake, I'm disappointed, from my pov Soliai was not as important as finding a Vet Wr to try and replace Marshall. That said, it is what it is, I'm a Dolphins fan at the end of it all so I naturally hope we have a great rest of the preseason.
AF, I love those old Fins as I've grown up (and older) with this team but those guys are now just fans, like us... Think about the late Mad Dog...he'd share his negative opinion, but he'd be out there in all his glory yelling "Alllrrriiggghhhttt Miiyammmii" whenever we scored or big play was made... At any rate, the issues this team has had is simply bad decisions. Honestly the worst of the decisions were by Wanny and his henchmen in the FO that never drafted anyone worth a darn for 8 yrs...then H. Wayne decided to go into the change the regime every other year mode and finally, the coup de gras was when we hired Parcells... While under his command, we've sunk even lower, while actually improving the overall talent. The specific talent, or skill set talent hasn't been improved much, but the base talent has... Now we need to move on. But we are ironically stuck in this "can't find the right qb" mode. I believe if we can get a QB that can at least be second level in the league (specifically it doesn't have to be a healthy Manning or Brady or Brees) we can win with this talent. It's like being stuck in the mud...I guess we are paying for 30 yrs of being a great playing franchise and we're well on our way into the next 30 yrs of mediocrity... Ross has made several mistakes. Maybe, just maybe keeping Irish was one of them, but that still can really be determined. It does appear that he is afraid to take a chance on some players. That's fine for your base talent, but sometimes, like you said, you have to take a risk on guys like Bryant, Gronk, Brees, etc. But shoulda, coulda, woulda won't make any of us feel any better right now... So the next beer is for Ireland, that he takes that big next step and goes out of character...it has to start somewhere. You get one exceptional guy, then another and pretty soon you have some pretty good skilled players making plays...
Our problems go back to the start of the JJ years. Or as I call it......the year every coach since has forgotten the offense. Seriously this team has invested in the defence by upwards of 2.5 times the resources.
LOL, I read the OP and all I could think of was this: Well don't count me in, I would like to see how the teams come togather and plays first.
With respect, I'm not sure what all of the fuss is about. Sure, we may have let Payton string us along a little to long and that may have kept us from moving a little quicker on a few guys, but considering the circumstances and our limited cap space, I think everything is going to work out just fine. Although, I don't have any real proof, I have a good feeling about Philbin and think we are moving in the right direction as a team and organization. I can't wait for the season to start!! Steve
