Here is the alert I received: ESPN NFL - Rams sign DE Kendall Langford to 4-year deal worth $24M ($12M guaranteed), according to sources
That was expected. Signing Langford to a 24.0M contract would've been a poor use of resources and cap space. Best of luck, Kendall.
Where are the Ireland haters on this one? This just outright proves Miami got a serious deal with Soliai.
Langford has nothing do with Anderson. If anything Anderson has to do with Coples. By signing Anderson were not tied to having to draft a DE in the first round. Which opens up the possibilty of drafting MLB Luke K. (I want this guy soooo bad!) while everyone else will assume were going after that RT Reiff.
I feel the same way. Kuechly is a can't miss prospect. He and DeCastro look like the surest bets for multiple pro bowls from our draft slot. Floyd is enticing though with the need at receiver as long as his interviews and background went well.
It would definitely give our LB corps no excuses to be anything but a top 5 unit..that's for sure. Plus it would keep Dansby our of the middle and let him do what he does best.
Solai was the better player, we kept the better player...I agree with Ireland's handling of the situation.
Good for him. Glad to hear he got paid. Really would have liked to keep him, but not for that much! Definately got a good deal on Soilai!
Tied into the deal for double the time and Soliai is the more valuable player by far. Doesn't make it the same money because if both were cut tomorrow the Rams would be paying out more money. Rams are taking a big risk that Langford can play tackle in a 4-3.
I wouldn't say soliai is by far the more valuable player langford is a de/dt hybrid lineman that's what the giants use in there main pass rush formation.
Best wishes to the guy. He gave solid effort and performed well for us. Im happy he is going to get his pay day. Sorry it was not in the cards for it to of been as a Dolphin. Oddly enough this is where rookie salary caps are going to start coming into play for teams. Why pay out a big contract if you think you have a young rook in the draft that can perform just as well at a fraction of the cost.
I guess some people forget that Soliai was also the franchise player for the Dolphins last year, so his salary for the next two years, plus what he earned last season is far more then what Langford will earn over the next four years. So basically Ireland didn't do such a great job after all. I think Langford was a solid defensive lineman and I think he will be missed on the defensive unit.
