I agree. I personally think we are going to sign Flynn but exploring every other option is a sign by management to let Dolfans know that Flynn is not an elite qb. Philbins in a tough spot. He can only say great things about Flynn regardless of how he has truly evaluated him. Flynn is going to be our next qb. Flynn is the better of 2 evils. We had no shot at manning because he was too chicken to be in a division against the patriots and jets (by the way I don't blame him. Harbaugh was also too scared.) This year in free agency, the qb market was extremely weak and the afc east is an undesirable division. There was Manning, Flynn, and then nobody(alex smith, garrard) else.
All you have to do is read 10 of your most current posts to realize how insecure you are in your own fandom.
Insecure huh? You're the one ready to slit your wrists over Jeff Ireland and I'm insecure..... You funny man!
I purchased it over forty years ago when true fans still meant something. Nowadays Dolphin fans are just so lame.
Who died and made you king of the Dolphins Fans? People have a right to be upset, and you are no one to tell them otherwise.
Because we want better for our team than piles of dog**** like Gerrard? Okay.... Our front office is so incompetent they are terified they may not land the one QB who was gift wrapped to us... That we are looking into Gerrard
What kind of dolphin fan accepts mediocrity? A little passion about our team isn't bad.. Surprised you haven't found that with your forty years of being a fin fan
As opposed to fans who just sit back and nod and applaud at every move, while sipping on mojitos and looking at life through their aqua and orange colored-glasses and humming the theme song to the Andy Griffith show over and over again.
wasn't most of the folks here jumping up and down about Kolb last year and cassle a few years back How'd that turn out?? Not betting the farm on an unproven guy is not a bad thing!!
Just trying to help people to avoid looking foolish. The same griping today will be head over heels in love with our next big signing. I stay off the roller coaster. Makes me look much better. LOL
I think it's pretty reasonable to think that we brought in Alex Smith for a visit simply as leverage in the Flynn negotiations. I have no idea what bringing in Garrard for a visit accomplishes. Is there a new Rooney Rule for QBs now?
Just FYI, Garrard isn't awesome but he is not a slouch either. If we can't get Smith or Flynn to compete with Moore than he is a decent guy to have compete with Matt Moore.... Garrard spent nine years with the Jaguars, including five as a starter. He has 89 career touchdowns and 54 interceptions and an 85.8 rating. In 2010, his last full season, he had 23 TDs and 15 interceptions, with a 90.8 rating. Read more here: http://www.miamiherald.com/2012/03/18/2700501/quarterback-alex-smith-visits.html#storylink=cpy
Lion fans took it upon themselves to walk out in protest of Matt Millen. I don't think they were whining, just tired of the crap their FO had put on the field. I don't want to see this franchise head down this road.
I get that he's had some success in the NFL, but isn't he coming off a serious back injury? I know we were looking at him before we brought Moore in and he couldn't pass a physical. I'd rather stick with Moore between the two. Pass.
It is ridiculous to blame the fan base for the ineptness of the Dolphins front office. Ross was the person who stated after he fired Sparano that his two main goals in the off season would be to hire a head coach with NFL head coaching experience. He also stated that the Dolphins would have to dramatically upgrade the QB position. He has failed to follow through on either of these goals he set, and yet the fan base is now considered the problem? Ross and Ireland are the problem and if you can't see that, the thousands of former season ticket holders who no longer purchase these season tickets, certainly can.
yeah its so lame, there was a time when fans would stand behind their players and would not bash them everytime they get a chance.....
The loss of nearly twenty thousand season ticket holders over the past few years is a clear indication that many fans have already headed down that road.
Hell, they might feel he's the best option. No way in hell Ross agrees. Problem is he very well might be the best option over Moore, Flynn, Smith...and that's not an exaggeration.
I don't think that fans are bashing the players. They are bashing the persons responsible for where this organization is today, Ross and Ireland.
Garrard did not play last year because he needed to have back surgery. Prior to that, he was cut by the Jaguars and replaced by a first year rookie QB. He might have been an average QB when he was younger and healthier, but there is no guarantee that he would be anything but awful at this time.
I've gotten it for a long time. It is only now that some others on here are finally starting to see where the problem really lies with this organization.
That didnt do anything,,what changed the Lions around was Bill Jr. finally growing a set and telling the old man that it's time to end the Millen area and promoting Mayhew to GM. Opening their pockets to FAs and like we just saw signing their most talented player. I wont down play the Lions fans anger (i'm one of them) but it was Jr basically taken the lead and wanting a winner.
Perhaps one of the Ross children need to have a talk with their Dad and tell him that it is time to get rid of Ireland. At this point, I'll settle for anything that will rid the Dolphins of Ireland as the Dolphins GM.
Calling out devotion to the team for questioning personnel decisions is the king of the straw man. It is totally fine to voice displeasure with how the FO operates, much like it is fine to voice your agreement with how the FO operates. It doesn't make the poster any more or less of a fan. Cut the crap....agree to disagree, or attack the post, not the poster. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Last year people wanted Garrard and he was hurt. Now he is healthy and fans think it is a joke we are bringing in Garrard. Can't you see what missing on Manning has done. It raised the bar and now nothing is good enough.
It's not about devotion it is about saving face. From where I am it comes off like a two year old laying on the floor kicking and screaming at the supermarket. No offense to anyone personally but this fanbase spews negativity and it looks real bad. And people wonder why the dolphins look so bad. Just read around here. That tells you why.
It is fairly obvious that if Philbin a guy that worked with Flynn for four years isn't jumping all over Flynn then maybe just maybe he isn't what his two games played suggest. Other than Manning who else is there to consider, oh lets see Flynn check, Smith check, Gerrard check. You got to draft your QB and we have some inside info on third best QB available and a solid option with Weeden. Philbin will not overpay for Flynn and if the Dolphins don't sign him is because he knows he is not worth it. The only reason for all this bull**** is Manning being released, this is a 36 year old guy that wanted to finish his career in Indy and would have negotiated a lower contract and Indy knew he is not the future and they cut him. But around here we need to get somebody that we can dream with.
There is nothing wrong with raising the bar. The FO doesn't pursue Manning people are upset. Manning wasn't interested....time to move on. Next best available is Flynn, and now the FO is playing a game of chicken with him. It is all a part of the game. You show interest, and the when Flynn shoots an offer, you show you aren't willing to make that deal and shop around with the intent to show you don't like the offer. This is beyond stupid I hope Flynn walks now fu Ireland you can't get a franchise qb at Kmart for deep discounts. Ross and co are going to lose out and maybe they want to so they can say we're tried without spending the money to get better.
