throwing **** on the wall hoping it sticks. the qb situation wouldnt be nearly as bad if they had a #1 receiver to help out whoever we brought in, now we have a major whole their as well.

No, we'd carry 3 to help keep some pressure off Tannehill and provide him more time to develop in case Moore goes down in week 1. The last thing you want IMO is throwing him to the wolves and ruining him by damaging his psyche or subjecting him to some bad habits etc.

I personally liked signing a potential starting free safety... and then cutting your strong safety.

Perhaps we're lowballing people b/c their priority is using the draft to bring in a franchise QB but will still entertain other options in case the price happens to be right.

I understand being pissed. We all are. I don't think this move is something to get worked up about. Pissed about Manning? Me too. Upset over Flynn? I get it. Garrard is going to replace Losman? I make that move everyday.

I look at it this way. If they do draft Tannehill, you start the season off with Moore, and Garrard is b/u this year. Tanny learns at #3 for now. At least then, you can at least have a shot in games this year w/ Moore and/or Garrard. Doesn't mean we'll win all that many, but hey, we did finish the year 6-3, so who knows - it may at least be a serviceable season. Then, dispatch Garrard going into 2013, and see where Tanny is at that point.

I don't know - it's the best I can come up with at this point.

While I'm not overjoyed at this, I'm not that upset with it. I don't think he's better than Moore, but I think he's better than Smith at 9 mil a year. If the Browns take Tannehill I'll join the rest of you on storming the facility with pitchforks. Also, after next season we won't have any QBs who aren't free agents.

That doesn't justify lowballing Flynn or the reported offer to Smith. If the team can't afford what Seattle is clearly already talking about, no reason for Miami to waste everyone's time on talking to him. Somebody could have stolen our coveted Garrard, after all. I appreciate the need to find order and rational thought to what can be an irrational fanbase, but you're also giving the front office way too much credit when you do it.

we are watching the systematic destruction of a franchise.
not one good thing has come our way since Philbin assumed control of the team
this has to be an intentional sabotage, no one could stumble blindly into this mess

Garrard didn't have a job last year but it's not as simple as that. Nobody expected him to be cut on the eve of the season. He didn't get beat out by anyone. The move probably cost, no it did cost Jack Del Rio his job.

In 2010, he threw for 21 TD's and made the pro bowl. yes his INT's were high that year, but he's proven he can play in this league. Elite? No. Good? At times. He did take 2011 off for surgery to a herniated disc. That's good news. He'll be better for 2012.

Wouldn't it be crazy if he takes over the starting job and plays well. It'll be just like JAX cuz our Wr's corp now suck.

he is getting up there in age though.

You cannot use the 8th pick or even higher on a third string QB. It makes no sense. Ireland needs to go.

    .... including yourself, Jimmy.

    A. The draft is still ahead of us.
    B. We have a top 10 pick.
    C. Outside of Manning, Tannehill has the highest upside of anyone available to us this off season.
    D. The BIG PICTURE most likely involves using our 1st rounder on the QB of the future.
    E. I can't believe you're thinking Garrard is the guy we're viewing as "the answer" when it's overwhelmingly obvious he's nothing but depth and insurance.

Dont think we are getting Tannenhil, Cleveland will take him with the 4th pick. Even it gets past them, the Jags are shopping the 7th pick, since Tannehill has been brought up so much they think they can grab a few picks from him. I heard this on Espn last week, s no link for u,think it was there GM talking about it.

why would we want Brunnell when we wouldn't even want their starter for a bag of practice balls.... or even the bag itself..... or a broken bag..... unless it's a broken bag with 2 eyeholes to hide myself in embarrassment with Sanchez in a Phins uni.

On the bright side, all of the current QBs on Miami's roster are still arguably better than Mark Sanchez.

    So there's that.

    1) Given this offseason and recent team history, I wouldn't call the draft coming up a good thing. The power of this front office to disappoint is profound.
    2) It's the 8th pick. It would be something if it had been high enough to get Miami into contention for a real impact player. Not so much.
    3) If Tannehill's upside is lower than Manning's, that's sad.
    4) I don't think it's remotely certain that the 8 pick is getting used on a QB.
    5) I view Garrard as a tool, not the answer. This isn't about Garrard. It's about the pattern, the course of conduct by this front office.

Or, perhaps MMoore is traded, I like Garrard's game, and think he will do fine with us if he wins the job in a surprise.

I'd enoucrage people to look at his performance in Jax, every yr over 20 Td's or right at it, that is the benchmark to be a competitive Qb and no Phins qb has topped it since the immortal Gus Frerotte in 2005.

Gus is actually a pretty good benchmark for Garrard. Garrard had a better career all told, but Miami didn't get Frerotte after he had been out of the league for a year. Frerotte=Garrard. Fiedler=Smith. Lucas=Tebow.

True but good luck with that! Since almost "nobody" wants to join this team until Ireland is gone i think the only way to get more pieces to the puzzle is "building trough the draft" in the next 2-3 years!

It's only hype in your opinion. For those of us who like Tannehill, it's not hype. :wink2:

It's convenient of you to reduce genuine interest in Tannehill as "hype" since you, yourself, don't like him. It's quite arrogant actually.

Well for one year, if your plan is to make that guy your future, you can. It does sound odd, but not out of the question. You have a #1 and #2 who could hold the fort down if we catch fire w/ a weak schedule, and you can perhaps hand Tanny/Draft pick the keys in 2013 if you want.

Thinking it's hype is arrogant? On what planet? How is your opinion 'normal' and mine arrogant?

That's a rather warped world view.
