What would really have to happen for Stephen Ross to sell the Dolphins to someone who actually wants make the team into a Super Bowl contender? and also what would it take for Jeff Ireland to get fired?

The "long con" to those in that racket. Seems like several here are victims and like most victims of a con job do not report it due to embarrassment.

What seems humorous is the fans taking a stance that we should only sign Flynn or so and so if only the $$$ is right...GM wantabees...

Will probably be the same fans leading the ***** parade if Flynn plays lights out for Seattle and Moore/Garrard play poorly.

But maybe, I am wrong. Maybe the same fans will be saying, "I know we suck again this year and Seattle is headed for the playoffs but I am glad we signed Garrard cheaply and didn't give a starter's contract to Flynn. It is worth it."

We're not the tight-wadded Bengals, which is whom you're basically describing.

We have a generous owner with deep pockets who's already displayed the desire and willingness to open his check book for someone we badly want.

    We did NOT low-ball Flynn.
Our owner doesn't low-ball players we highly covet & value (see Dansby, Marshall, and a franchise tag on Soliai).
We offered him what we believed he was worth, period.

Outsiders conveniently label it as "lowballing" as a coping mechanism to validate their own differing opinion. It's the same coping skill people used to label Chris Johnson as a "reach" or Ryan Mallett as the "steal of the draft" despite never playing an NFL snap and every NFL team passing on him at least twice.

Just b/c you, yourself, may have thought highly of Flynn does not mean our FO and HC [who knows him better than any armchair fan] shares the same opinion.

I know it stings when your team makes a decision that you disagree with or weren't expecting, but the bottom line is Flynn signed for nearly a third of what Kolb demanded, so obviously the league wasn't clamoring for his services in a frenzied bidding war.

How is that even funny? Do you laugh at people every time they make an error in judgement? Ha ha, jerk, feel the wrath of not being able to see into the future.

Would it be humorous if Tavaris Jackson beats out Flynn and Moore/Garrard play poorly?

That's pretty funny, Todd. As a Miami fan, you must love comedy :) Thank God for you guys. The Jets had a miserable and embarrassing ending to the season and they were the media's whipping boys until Miami upstaged them with unrivaled ineptness. Thank you!

Disagree. You realize that our new Offensive Coordinator happened to be the best available prospect's head coach, right?

Hypothetically, if Miami has had Tannehill at 1a (behind Manning) all along, then it's quite easy to work backwards by asking themselves, "Ok, if we want Tannehill and the entire NFL knows our OC has the most insight on him, then what steps do we take to confuse everyone about our intentions with the hopes that someone doesn't try to move ahead of him for his services?" That's it. It's that simple.

Jimmy, this kind of stuff happens EVERY year. Everything is smoke and mirrors on every team during FA and the draft. It's naive to think otherwise. The absolute last thing Miami does if they feel Tannehill is the future of the franchise is to tip their hand early. If that means bringing in Flynn or Smith for a look see, then that's what you do.

Bringing in the ex Jag leads me to believe it's Tannehill rather than Weeden b/c if it Weeden is "the guy" then you want him on the field as soon as possible and likely won't need Garrard as a 3rd stringer at his cost. Plus Weeden is much more obtainable if that's who we covet most, so there'd be little reason for an insurance policy like Garrard.

Saved 6.5 mil in cap...not that they used it for any good. But it wasn't a pity extension - it was basically a restructure. And while I have had my doubts about Mr. T and Rexy, at least I know the Jets don't have the worst FO in the division. You guys have that locked down solid. Congrats.

    What are you talking about?

What seems humorous to me are fans taking a stand they would rather have a less talented player (or who doesn't fit the system as well) signed and on the roster as long as the player more talented/better fit isn't overpaid.

    It's an "ironical" humor.

I don't think there is going to be anything humorous at all of watching Miami play this year with Moore/Garrard as the QBs...rather sad and pathetic actually.

What? This is the cutthroat NFL, not a polite game of charades. You don't "not bring him in" just to be nice and courteous. Teams that practice that will lose and get walked on. Remember spygate? Teams want EVERY edge they can get, Jimmy. We broke no rules.
Flynn got paid millions, so please stop feeling bad for him that we flew him into Miami for a business meeting that failed to materialize.

    Of course.

But, he'd have to do a hell of a lot to be worse than Rex. I doubt Rex makes it through this season.

We signed an ex starter as an insurance policy and likely backup to prevent from being in a situation where a green rookie is called into action.

If we were looking at Garrard as the answer, we would've signed him to a longer contract. The last time I checked he's not the worst QB to have as a backup, not even close.

I'm not going to get sucked into this with you. You're right - Rex sucks. Hopefully Philbin can not only get you guys to the AFCCG in each of his 1st two years, but he also wins them. That would be better than Rex, who did it with a rookie garbage QB. Good luck.

You weren't one of the guys wanting Flynn were you? Serious question...

Clearly there is no "master plan", Ireland simply can't get good players to come here. Plain and simple. Those who dismiss the comments from the likes of Ryan Clark, Matt Flynn, Joey Porter, Channing Crowder, and others are simply burying their heads in the sand. This is the most inept front office in football right now, no doubt about it.
