So, my house almost caught fire today. My backyard is backed up to the Ocala National Forest, which was on fire. There were 15ft tall flames 30 yards from house. We almost had to evacuate. It was close enough that I was packing stuff and headlong into some contingency plans. There were old re-purposed Hueys (the firemen told me that's what it was) dropping water. We could feel the mist. We are ok now. Here's after the worst of it was put out: You can see on the tree in the middle how tall the flames were. Here's one of the copters dropping the water: Mist from that drop had to be wiped off the camera.
Damn man I couldn't even imagine being in that situation feeling my house was about to catch fire. Glad you're ok and everything is safe.
Thank you. Its amazing how quick you can prioritize. In just a few moments I boiled everything I'm going to save to my dad and his medical supplies, my pets, my computer (just the tower, its my income) and my wife of course, if she had been home. That's it.
