    They just got annihilated.

One of the national guys said the Saints had planned on Vitt taking over for Payton if/when he was suspended. So they're down their second-in-command as well.

Glad the Fins didnt hire Fisher because geting him would have brought Williams on board. Then this whole bounty gate would have been Ross' and Ireland's fault.

Can you imagine if this was like college football. They would have had to vacate all wins from that season and give back their Super Bowl Championship. LOL

    Good call.

I commented in the other thread that this is essentially Roger Goodell's version of the NCAA's Death Penalty. Steep, steep price for the Saints.

Not that I disagree, but wow.

This is clearly the Commissioner making an example of an established team in the hopes that it changes a larger behavior.

Holy crap. Can't believe Payton's out for a whole year. Devastating. Quick Ireland, trade for Drew Brees and pull the greatest 180 of all time!!!!!!!!

As much as I love the thought of that, it won't happen.

Carmichael will probably step up and pull double duty as HC & OC, which will really be no different than Payton as he was the real OC. I am sure Brees is pissed, but he isn't leaving there and no way Benson lets him leave.

Funny, that's the first thing I thought of. The NFL equivalent of the NCAA's "Death Penalty".

What does suspending a GM for 8 games accomplish?

Since it is without pay it is more of a monetary fine for Loomis. I believe the suspension begins on April 1 for him as well which could hurt them further in the draft.

    Duh.

That's 8 weeks he can't destroy the franchise and turn the fan base into rubble.

    Oh wait...wrong team.

The only thing that annoys me is the fact that he is the same commissoner who said something to the nature of, "Suspending coaches doesn't accomplish anything." When he was dealing with Spygate.

NFLN reports that they found SP emails to an outside person & that outside person adding $5k for knocking out Rodgers. (paraphrasing) Wow, I can totally understand now.

They deserve what they got Sean is a liar and told his staff to get their ducks in a row in other words lie.
They talked about arrogant organization, Ireland is starting to sound like a good guy.

Obviously you don't know what courtesy is. Courtesy is if you imply something, I don't bite and ask straight forwardly about what it is you are implying.

  29. Yup I had a similiar reaction when I heard the news. This seems a bit extreeme when comparing it to BBs punishment for cheating.

I'd say the main difference is that while both are reprehensible, only one had the intended effect to hurt people.

He's consistent though, you gotta give him that. You do ANYTHING to tarnish the image of the league, you're in trouble.

  33. No he isnt. If he was, there would of been more done to Michael Vick.

  34. I get that and I can understand his reasoning that the punishment was not the same but at the same time you either have to say BB got off way to easy or Peyton is being punished way too much.

Not sure, but unless the justice system has changed, they probably didn't punish vick for messing with the nfls image either. In which case, no, roger goodell isn't consistent.
