The worst part is that EVERY discussion gets turned back into insults and accusations against the GM, and anybody who "dares" point out any errors in the accusations is attacked and ridiculed by OTHER fans of the SAME team! WTF? Has anybody considered that our fans MIGHT be a factor in coaches and players not being thrilled with coming to Miami? Hey, we can't even let go of a poorly chosen comment two years ago, made to a smart mouthed draft prospect who wasn't going to sign with us anyway...

That's another cop-out. I used to think that way, but when you sit back and really think about it, it doesn't make any sense.

Not really. Ryan isn't really all that great now. What makes you think that he'd be better, or even the same, here?

Well, I like that Ireland realizes he has perception problems, and the YB deal was stinky, however when it comes to actually doing something about, oh IDK, not have a good Wr...that remains to be seen.

Don't feed the problem back to me, fix the problem then explain what you did.

You're assuming a lot of things. You're also using hindsight to defend a pick. It doesn't really matter though, because you don't win Super Bowls with LT's. As good as Jake Long is, and he's awesome, there's only so much impact he can have on a game. That pick set the tone. It was the classic "PLAY IT SAFE" move. And I'm not sure about you, but I'd take what Matt Ryan's done in Atlanta, here, in two seconds flat.

Of course I'd take what Ryan has done in Atlanta. The problem, however, is he wouldn't have been able to do that here. And that's not hindsight. Ryan has some of the leagues best RB's and WR's at his disposel. Add to it stable coaching and FO. He wouldn't have had that here.

What is this "draft"? I thought games were won and lost in March. And that bastard Ireland lost all 16 of our games in March!

And they're unable to see the fact that THEY are becoming as big an embarrassment to the team as they imagine our GM to be!

With all due respect, you're assuming a lot of things too.

You're assuming the front office brought in Flynn to be starter and low balled and Ireland dicked his way into making Flynn leave. Those are assumptions. They are not outlandish, but neither is the assumption they didn't view Flynn as any better than a back up and only talked to him first because at least he'd know the playbook. Offering him a low contract points to that as much (maybe even a little more) than Ireland is a dick.

Matt Ryan is no better than other QBs brought aboard by Ireland - Pennington and Moore.

    :notfunny:
There's that..... and the fact that everyone else in the NFL saw it too, including the Packers who probably could've re-signed him as a backup for that salary.

Browns: "Ehh, we here in Cleveland are desperate for a QB; we missed out on Griffin; we think so much of Flynn we'll stick with McCoy and take our chances in the draft".

Seahawks: "We just saved some money on a QB (Whitehurst), so we can now afford to pay you borderline backup/starter money to compete with Tavaris Jackson, and if it doesn't work out we can cut our losses after 2 years."

Miami: "We have a better starting QB situation than Cleveland or Seattle, so we feel no need to spend the money on a guy that Cleveland doesn't want or that even Seattle isn't completely sold on."

Rest of the NFL: "Who's this Flynn guy all those Miami fans are chastising their GM for not getting?"

SOOO, apparently, it was the MEDIA and the FANS who created the ill deserved hype about Flynn, NOT the NFL.

But you know what the "hype" about Flynn (based on 2 games) coupled with how he was actually perceived by the NFL tells me? It tells me Philbin must be one hell of a coach. :wink2:

Think about it: A QB has a career day and sets a record or something but the NFL talent assessors apparently put an asterisk next to it in their minds, so I guess Flynn's performance is more kudos to Philbin than Flynn's actual ability.

Matt Moore & Matt Ryan aren't that far off, so it's not really a trolling statement. If Moore had as much starting experience & weapons as Ryan, it would make for a good debate.

New England Patriots: Despite the cost involved, franchised Matt Cassel and traded him for a high 2nd rounder to KC, a team with someone FAMILIAR with both Cassel and NE. KC signs him for 6 year $63.0M (ooops).

Green Bay Packers: Make no attempt to clear cap space to franchise Flynn, and likely didn't do so b/c no team would've sacrificed a draft pick for him (outside of Miami Dolphin fans). Even a team with someone FAMILIAR with him and the Packers doesn't have enough faith to call him a franchise guy, let alone a better option than what we currently have.

Matt Cassel: 6 year $63.0M. (Not a franchise QB and worse than Moore IMO).
Matt Flynn: 3 year $26.0M. (______ fill in the blank yourself, mad lib it).

So thank you Jeff Ireland for not bringing in a guy the league thinks less of than Matt Cassel, and thank you for not dumping $26.0M into a guy who might not beat out our current starter.

wow, bell needed to go. he isn't that good. I don't know what SS pull as far as contracts in relation to bell but he's passed his prime and his prime wasn't that good.

if the dudes situation wasn't handled right then nobody here would know unless he comes out and says something about it but to deny that it looks ****ty to other players trying to sign some where is totally an O.B. (ostrich brigade) move.

we should be pissed that he didn't realize bell wasn't worth keeping sooner and we could have used that money to lure a big name Olinemen/ pass rusher which would make the drafting of tannehill at 8 a little more easy to swallow.

    the poor house

this is why Ireland isso disliked around the nfl and he needs tobe fired beforethe draft because he may mess that up too the way things are going. i would let Philbin chose the players and bring in Dan Marino to oversee ireland as insurance.

......plus people (including Joe Rose) are criticizing him for "making the safety position worse and leaving a hole in it".

    Richard Marshall, duh, hello.

We upgraded safety first before cutting Bell, and we upgraded the more important of the 2 safety spots, so cork it, Rose. Just sounds like people grasping for an excuse to criticize. What's next? "!!!Ireland drives a silver SUV!! Silver reflects too much light and heats the ozone!!! Fire Jeff Ireland!!!"

Remember the other day when Ireland addressed the fans thru the media?, he said There will be no further chase for Smith or any of the current free agent options on the market. Ireland, however, did not rule out selecting a quarterback in the coming draft.

"There's a chance of that," he said. "Let it run its course."

Metaphor maybe for, shut up fans, we have an ace in the pocket in Sherman and Tannehill...

I think this year is going to be the big one for Ryan now that Mularkey isn't around and by that I mean we'll see if someone other than Mularkey can get a better performance out of Ryan.

For the last time. HE NEVER SAID HE WASNT GOING TO CUT BELL.

All he said was that he hoped he wouldn't have to, and at that particular moment he didn't intend to but things change.
