I was thinking today and trying to see if this could work as a possible trade scenario for us this draft. We trade our #8 pick to the Browns for their #22 pick and their 4th pick in the second round, and a few other picks next year, including a first. This way we can draft Coby Fleener in the first, and with our two second rounders we get a wr and Brandon Weeden. The Browns want Trent Richardson but at the same time might want Tannenhill gives them the chance at both, and gives us two first rounders next year to trade up for Barkely.

Do you guys think this would work for us? If so, who would you get with the 1st and two 2nd round picks?

As much as I'd like weeden I don't see us getting him. Idk

I don't think we would be able to get a second and their first next year. Sounds like absolute highway robbery to me.

If we trade thm so that they move their pick from 22 all the way to 8 we might be able to because it is a big leap

It is a decent leap but in all reality they probably have a top ten pick again next season. So they would be trading a #10 lets say overall, #22 overall, and a second rounder just to get #8?

I'd take just their #22 and second rounder for our pick honestly if you add in maybe a 4th rounder or something.

Ok, seeing that would you still take the trade?

If they offered me your trade I would take it and never look back. Honestly I don't want to stay at #8 unless somehow Blackmon slips. I don't see much difference in the talent at #8 and #22 honestly and believe the strength of this draft is in it's depth and not the talent at the very top per se. So if we could acquire another early round pick and stay in the first I'd be all for it.

I feel like we would get hosed in that deal. From 22 to 8 should be more than their 2nd and another mid round pick.

I agree, if Blackmon is gone, then drop, and keep dropping...Picks for this year and next.

8 to 22 is probably worth a second this year and a second next year.

    I don't see it happening.

Their second is so high it is essentially another late first. This draft has much better value at the #22 spot than the #8 and so I'd much rather be drafting there anyway.

    Not a chance.

In 2010, Miami traded their 1st (#12), 4th (#110), and 6th Round pick to SD, for their 1st (#28 - drop of 16 slots), their 4th (#126 - another drop of 16 slots), a 2nd rounder (#40) and Tim Dobbins (a middling ST player). You could put Dobbins in exchange for the 6th. And, so we traded down 16 slots in two rounds (1, 4) and picked up a middle 2nd extra pick.

No way we get a lot from the Browns and why would they need it with a #4 pick in the draft?

But, I do think we should try to trade down at this point. Without any real assistance in free agency, and with at least half a dozen slots of need to fill (and I don't see Tannehill as the answer at QB), then we definitely need more picks.

I don't see how anyone can justify drafting Weeden. We'd get maybe 6 years out of him. That's just not enough value.

NO we need a true STUD #1 with the #8 if were not getting a QB.

I think the trade partner is going to be the Vikings, the question is how much is it going to cost?

Anyone we pick that isn't a franchise QB is either going to be:

    - A great/good player and therefore a possible hindrance to us to getting a franchise QB in the future (because they'll keep us competitive and therefore have a lower pick)
    or
    - Just a role player
    or
    - A bust.

We can't win the SB without a franchise QB. So unless we build one of the greatest defenses of all time, then its pointless to get cute and trade back if our 1st pick target is Tanny/Weeden. Just grab the one you want at your pick.

Its only bad value if the one you pick doesn't pan out.
