    I know the moves we have made aren't popular and I would prefer having Manning as a QB rather than what we have now. But we got to settle down. The acquisitions we've made arent sexy nor they seem to point us as an organization in the right directions...which is winning. But we got to settle down.
    How many close games did we loose last year? The core of the defense which kept us in games it's still here. With a bit of health we can achieve similar results. The offense is the big ??? mark...and it's been for many years, so I see how we are so unpatient and want that big signing. but look at this for example...what happen to Philadelphia? Arizona? Redskins? St Louis? and our beloved NY Jets Last year. Not a damn thing.
    Manning is unquestionably an improvement even with all the ??? marks sorrounding his health. But we just don't know what we are gonna get. All the other QB's had big ???? marks also. QB is an important position and it can make a big difference but the system can make a big difference as well. We already know our team does not quit, even when we hit the lowest of point we refused to do that. Placing the right motivated pieces in the right place and with a new system can bring new life and perhaps put us over that hump, in which we are in games instead of playing catch up. We shall see.

    Your problem, 616, is that you refuse to learn that logical analysis is inappropriate when you are addressing "FANS," which is short for "FANaticS." The reason for being a fan is to whip oneself up into a hysterical frenzy. A long term view towards building a champion is not welcome among those unable to delay gratification. Get with the program.

    I see you are new here, welcome aboard. These types of "fanatics" happen every year before the new regular season starts (FA periods, combine, draft). You'll get use it after awhile. :up:

    Why does a disgruntled fan base need to settle down? Settling down sends the message an inept GM is doing a good job.

    Obviously, getting riled up and protesting outside of Dolphin HQ got Ross' attention or he wouldn't have called a fan, Jason Lawrence. If fans think Ireland needs to go then settling down is the last thing fans need to do.

    Ireland isn't going anywhere for another year or probably two. So what you should do is take a deep breath and let his plan unfold for better or worse.

    Yes, I know, but for 40 f'ing years we have been led by the unstable, the mentally challenged, the incompetent, the past-their-prime, the pretenders and the impostors. The only way to get out of it now is to grow out of it, led by people who know what the F they're doing. There is no magic bullet. This coaching staff appears to fit the bill, and if Ireland turns out to be a capologist and good judge of talent instead of the miserly lickspittle he's looking like now, we may grow out of it in a couple of years. Live with it. We have no choice.

    Do you fault Ireland for not getting Manning?

    I think whether we should have brought in Manning or not is a useless debate, he didn't come to Miami and evidently never considered coming to Miami for whatever reason. Flynn didn't come to Miami for his own personal reasons, it might of been because he didn't want to compete with Moore for the starting QB position, or he just liked the situation better in Seattle. Either way they are both signed elsewhere and its a mute point. Time to move on and look to the draft where they may consider drafting a QB.

    Why should WE settle down? We the fans have little to no control over what the Dolphins organization does. Actually the owners we've had since Joe Robbie have shown no inclination at all to listen to the fans. We can ***** all day long and the front office will still make one easily-predictable mistake after another.

    Yatil Green, John Avery, a couple years of no picks, Jamar fletcher, two more years of no picks, Vernon Carey, Ronnie Brown, Jason Allen, Ted Gin JR.

    These are the first round picks since jimmy johnson up until the parcell/ireland era. Only two decent players and that's debateable. I loved ronnie brown but he got injured. They never gave him a chance after his pro bowl start to i think the 2008 or 2009 season but still, RBs don't need to be taken that high. Carey had a couple of good seasons but got old real fast.

    Now, since it's been parcells/ireland we've had;

    Jake Long, Vontae Davis, jared Odrick, mike pouncy. Long and pouncey IMO are better than the whole era before ireland/parcells. Davis might be good if he fixes his attitutde and odrick was hurt his rookie season, he still shows some promise. The picks were, 1,25,28,15. For the previous era they were 15, 29(traded down, passed on moss) 26, 19, 2, 16,9.

    This information provided to you by a person who thinks ireland is horrible. this mangement team deserves another two years to fix it up imo.
