I would take this guy 100% with the 4th rounder. San Diego State QB Ryan Lindley completed 67-of-73 passes at the Aztecs' Pro Day despite not throwing to any of his 2011 receivers. NFL rules prohibit underclassmen from participating in Pro Days, and all of Lindley's 2011 receivers were underclassmen after the graduation of DeMarco Sampson and Vincent Brown. Per NFL.com's Gil Brandt, Lindley "put on a show" and "should be a fourth-round pick." A favorite of NFL Films' Greg Cosell, Lindley is a smarter version of Derek Anderson with a cannon arm and ideal size. Pat Devlin was a better QB at Delaware than Lindley appeared to be at San Diego State. I can't see wasting a draft pick on a young QB who isn't better than the young QB you picked up last year.
He's a Junior, right? You're talking for next year's draft? I see nothing about him coming out this year...
he was a true freshman in 07 and traveled, he is coming out. What I cut and pasted was form his pro day.
stockpilke the position, we are not getting any FA help in the foreseeable future and I think Lindley could be real good down the road.
He's an inconsistent performer, but has some talent to work with. I think another year of Al Borges would have helped him.
He played terrible in the Senior Bowl and his completion percentage was 58% during his senior season. He played against two quality opponents last year, TCU and Michigan and he didn't play well in either game. The fact that he completed a large percentage of his passes on his pro day, when he was throwing to players in shorts and there was no defensive pressure being applied when he made these throws, means absolutely nothing to me. I don't see him as being anything but a possible backup in the NFL and it would not surprise me in the least if he is out of football completely in the next few years.
I'd rather develop Devlin than take a mid round QB. Watching a bit of game film on Devlin and he does some things extremely well.
He looked solid in college early on and then as you watch him more, it's like ehhh. He's a very limited quarterback IMO.
Not making excuses for him, but his WRs sucked last year... They didn't have a single Senior in the unit last season and they were hardly impressive.
You start out by saying your not making excuses for him. You then proceed to tell me his WR's sucked and the lack of seniors on this unit had something to do with his play last year. This certainly sounds like an excuse to me, whether it may be factual or not.
The kid can spin the ball though. Decision making, pocket presense - not so much from what I remember.
His WR did suck infact they blew. Much better developmental prospect than Devlin any day of he week and twice on Sunday
He doesn't have a great arm but he's very accurate.

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/players/1688198 I hear he's a bit of a knucklehead as well. This is pretty cool though.

From what I saw from watching he is very inconsistent, however he shows the ability to come off of his first target easily and when his mechanics are right he has pretty elite accuracy. It's when his mechanics are off that his flaws come out. They had him on that sport science show and while his arm strength is average they explained how he gets an extreme amount of spins in his spirals which give the ball a more even flight and trajectory. It was pretty interesting. Anyway I definitely think he has potential to be a very good system QB. Let him work on his mechanics and become stable with them, because when he sets his feet and has the right arm angle I can't say I've seen a QB his age throw more perfectly placed passes. Aside from Luck.
I don't know he has a knack for putting the ball where his receiver can gain yardage after the catch. Any of his accuracy problems like I said I believe come from straying from his mechanics. Anyway the point isn't whether Devlin can be an NFL quality QB, my main point was if you want a mid round type talent to develop I believe we already have one.
I go to SDSU and have watched him A LOT... let me tell you, if you watch this guy enough you come to realize that he can be the real deal, his quick decision and accuracy make up for a slight lack in arm strength, but i do like devlin
