If you believe Ireland had very much say in anything while Parcells was here other than as a guy who was trusted to evaluate talent I have a bridge somewhere in Brooklyn to sell you. Parcells built this team into failure, and since he left Ireland has made some very Anti-Parcells moves. Parcells pretty much gave Ireland a list of things to look for in players and Ireland found players who had those traits. Now we are seeing that Ireland has a different list of traits he looks for than Parcells. Thankfully. And I guess this is not fact but rather my opinion, however I am very confident it is true.
Talk is cheap. Too many people are buying the coolaid from Ross. Same thing they did from JJ. From Wanny. Cammy. From Parcells. I did to a degree. The fact is - forget the QB spot. They have serious upgrades necessary at the following positions, aside from QB: RG, RT, & WR (2). They also need a pass rushing DE. Yet, they did nothing for those spots in spite of the fact that there were several quality players available at those other positions. Now, they go into a draft needing a slew of upgrades. If anyone thinks they will excel with John Jerry and Lydon Murtha as starters ...
You must have missed the part where they dropped two punts, one that allowed the Giants to tie the game and another in overtime that allowed them to win it. So if by quarterback you mean punt returner.....yes with a better one they are in the superbowl.
Tell that to the Saints to who fell to the 49ers in the Divisional playoffs. How did that work out for Drew Brees again? Nothing special...pfft. Save the Colts season? Perhaps not, but the Colts may indeed have been competitive. I seem to recall when some guy named...gee, what was his name again...Mariner, Martin, Oh Marino...when he went down with an achilles heel rupture his back up, Scott Mitchell came in off the bench and at least kept the Dolphins competitive throughout the year. The same with some other guy named Montenez, Montigua...OH, Montana...when he went down Steve Young came in off the bench and kept the 49ers competitive. The Colts? They had NOTHING!! When Manning was projected not even be able to start the season, instead of turning to their back up, they were out looking for another quarterback, that's how little faith they had in Curtis Painter. Indianapolis never even prepared their back-up!
Bottom line is: Until Mr. Ross gets rid of the Garbage and cleans house in the Front Office, we won't even be mediocre. We will continue to be the laughing stock of the whole league. Mr. Ross if you continue to "think" that Ireland is a good GM then why not move the team to Canada and play in that league. Oh yeah, right, we are taking their misfits now so they won't want to have you either.
I don't agree at all. Name one player on this team (other than D Bess) that has achieved more than expected. That screams incompetent coaching to me. The problem with this team in the past 4 years is than none of the players have gotten better than they were in college.
