He's not really a very good pass rusher, and he's obviously done something to artificially deflate his value that he can't get anything other than one-year deals for cheap every year.
No thanks. It seems as if every player we get rid of some people think it was the wrong choice. Roth is gone for a reason. Sure, he's played a few really good games since he's left, but IMO he's not worth the headache. Saying that, if the FO decides to give him a 1 year deal I'd of course hope that he has grown up and does well.
He was never a good pass rusher......he was more of a Koa Misi type....stop the run, bad in coverage (misi is actually better in coverage) No thanks to this guy. However, I'll never forget him destroying Willis Mcgahee when he was on Buffalo by grabbing his jersey in the backfield on a sweep and slamming him to the ground like the incredible Hulk!
Chronic concussions and his groin problem never really straightened itself out. He actually was a good, but streaky, passrusher.
We need a player who can bring constant pressure from the outside opposite Wake and I don't think Roth would be that guy. If we could bring in someone who is comparable to Wake with similar skills and motor it would take our Defensive line from good to great.
