RW and a pick for JT? Personally, Id take it all day if BP is confident they can get the best out of RW. PFT has us as the most possible destination for him, which seems obvious given the amount of transactions that have occurred between our teams. Its here if youd like to read it: http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/05/18/will-williams-be-traded/

Personally, I feel like we might be able to pick up Williams without any players or many picks. They don"t think he fits in? Fine, throw them a crappy late round pick for a young player with promise . If we really want to dump JT (which isnt a terrible idea) then I would hope we could get RW and a 3rd for him.

Its def one of the more interesting post-draft trade scenarios with JT. Obviously if youve read any of my posts, I dont think JT's best use is staying in MIA. I wish him the best, but this is business and a move is necessary for our side to benefit. I would welcome Williams all day, and a pick for JT is something Ive been wishing for since last March.
    Thoughts?

I don;t care to see him here, honestly.

I know our talent at safety is shakey, but he's the worst kind of talent...

he's SO good at one aspect of the game (hitting) that you tolerate how bad he is at the more important aspect of the game (not letting people get past him, catch a ball and score a TD).

Players like that are attractive enough that you keep them around, even as they hurt the team.

Sure we suck, so having a one-dimensional, so-so safety would help improve us to mediocre, but it could not possibly get us past there. Beyond that, I would rather spend that time developing our own young players.

The only good that I could see coming of it is williams mentoring Jason Allen... I think allen has the gifts to be twice as good as Roy Williams, since he can hit, support against the run, AND has great speed and deep range to cover.

Maybe one year as allen learns more from him? Even then. I say no.

I feel Allen, based on the last part of last year, is ready to start at Strong Safety for us.

I'll take Roy Williams the WR but not necessarily Roy Williams the safety considering Bell and Allen are fine. Roy Williams the safety is not worth JT IMO.

I really do like Jason Allen and I hope that last year we saw the flickering of the light-bulb finally turning on. This year for Allen really is make or break.

Bell on the other hand has seen a lot of wear and tear. Dont get me wrong, I believe Bell is very talented, but if he cant stay healthy then hes no good to us at all.

Im not really championing for Williams to land here. But, I figure that it is a decent possibility given previous events.

I thought Dallas already got our 6th next year in the Ferguson deal. We swapped 6th rounders this year and gave them our 6th next year, right?

I believe so. I wish we could do this trade for players (Roth). Sending JT over there for Williams and a pick would be ideal though IMO.

I would love to have him here! JT is almost on his way out of Miami, this way or another!

I heard about this last week on the radio (790 or 560?) and was pretty shocked. Dont get me wrong Id love to have the guy here, but if its via trade we receive him you'd think it would be a pretty hefty pick(s). If we can trade for him with players and not picks (does that still happen in the NFL?) that would be alot better.

Kinda goes against the philosphy Ireland and Parcells have had since they arrived which has been to stockpile picks and sign depth/ST'ers.

It's just a matter of time before he is in a dolphins uniform.

As for the safety that Saban wasted that draft pick on, I would be extremely surprised if he wins a starting job here. It would be a NICE surprise, don't get me wrong, but I seriously doubt it. We are trying to get BETTER...

Why? I wouldn't be suprised if RW was cut after July 1. One more horsecollar and he sits for a year.

Why on earth would we wangt him?
Jason Allen whom showed some great promise last year in the SS position hits well too just not as hard as RW. However why get RW .. he can't cover in the passing game.

Gee fols remember last year when we gave up almost the most amount of yards through the air? We need guys that can cover too not get burned like Cameron Worrell

That's a good point, I saw him do it twice last year & I didn't watch all that many cowboy games. It's almost like he can't control it...

IMO, I don't see him being cut. The only way he is gone is trade. I think if he has coverage lapses again this year, he will be on the outs. As for which method they use, you could be right. I think they can pull out a draft pick from somebody who thinks they can fix his troubles.

Roy Williams is old, slow and not a team player. I say keep him away. He's good at hitting but can't cover a TE to save his life.

Really? For some reason I thought he was 30. I guess cause he's going into his 8th year in the NFL.

Yeah I know what you mean. I have done the same. Normally they come in at 22 or 23.

Probably because he covers like a 30 year old.

More like a 40 year old, there are some good safety's in their mid 30's who cover much better than him

I think it's already been said, but I thought this was a great idea until I realized we weren't talking about Roy Williams the WR.
