I have actually really liked the Browns draft last year:
1.) Phil Taylor - A stud that will anchor the line for years.
2.) Jabaal Sheard - See above.
3.) Greg Little - Their best WR, could be better if he was their 2nd WR and didn't have to face the #1 CBs.
4.) Jordan Cameron - Former basketball player. Raw but could be a solid TE in the near future.
5.) Owen Marecic - Solid FB, special teams player.

I really like that draft if you ask me... PLUS they added a 1st this year. I think there is a chance they take Tannehill, but I am not 100% sure. They might try the Bengals strategy last year and load up on key positions in 1st round then take a QB in the 2nd (Weeden possibly?).

Overall, I see them drafting either Morris Claiborne, Ryan Tannehill, or Trent Richardson. I just don't see them taking a WR that early. Holmgren has always believed that WRs can be found later in the draft...

And on offense? Cameron is raw, sure, but he's got a long way to go. Little has the attention span of a four year old as much as I like his talent. Marecic is nothing to shout about IMO.

    Keuchly? I'm a fan, personally.

One of the most interesting things is where people value Brandon Weeden. Some love this guy, some dislike him -- I'm somewhere in the middle.

If the Browns take Tannehill that removes a lot of pressure. A definite top 10 talent will fall to us, Blackmon, Claiborn, Richardson, which we could take or trade down. Taking a QB not named Luck or Griffin in the 1st rd this year is reprehensible. IMHO we should see what the Browns do, work to trade down, and take the best players available rounds 1-3. If that means no QB then fine. We can look at someone like BJ Coleman late, or simply ride with Moore and look for a QB next year.

Our plan should be based on the desire to consistently win over the long haul, not just improve dramatically one year. I want us to be a team that tweaks each year, not rebuilds/restructure/retool or whatever every 4 years.

I am not a Tannehill fan so I would love to see the Browns take him with their pick. My first choice would be for the Dolphins to take Trent Richardson if he is still on the board when the Dolphins pick in the first round. I don't see Blackmon still being there at 8, but if he is, that would be my pick if Richardson is not available. If neither Richardson or Blackmon are available, I would like to see the Dolphins select the best available pass rusher, safety, LB, or offensive lineman, in that order, with their selection in the first round.

I just don't see any of the QB's left in the draft after RG3 and Luck, worthy of being a first round selection. My hope is that the Dolphins will be in a position to trade up and get Matt Barkley in the 2013 draft. I would rather just go with Moore, Garrard, and Devlin in 2012 and not see the Dolphins waste a draft pick on any of the second tier QB's in this draft. I just don't see any of these QB's ever being productive QB's in the NFL.

I just don't see that he was very productive in college. His best games were against very mediocre defenses and in the few games he played against decent defenses, he had his worst games. I think if he had played in the SEC, against teams like LSU, Alabama, and other top defenses, he wouldn't even be mentioned as one of the top QB's in the draft. He was only the sixth rated passer in the Big 12 last season and he was not able to lead his team to anything but a very mediocre won/loss record.

I don't get all the hype on Tannehill and to me the worst part of having Sherman as the Dolphins OC is that he might actually try and talk Ireland into drafting him with the 8th pick in the draft. In my opinion, Tannehill is no better than a late third or fourth round pick. It is going to take him 2-3 years to be ready to play in the NFL, and even when he finally gets a chance to start, I just don't see him ever being more than a very mediocre starter or most likely a backup in the NFL.

I am not crazy about Weeden because of his age and how bad he looked in the Senior Bowl game. But I would rather see the Dolphins take Weeden in the third round than Tannehill in the first or second round. In fact I would rather see the Dolphins draft Kellen Moore in the fourth or fifth round than Tannehill.

Brandon Weeden is in play for me in this draft...he's really good, if Sherman wants his guy fine, but Brandon Weeden can play qb at a high level I believe, there is a sense of peace when I study him and project to the next level, he has a comfortability 5 to 7 yards behind the LOS that is calm, he surveys the field! Clearly sees his targets, and delivers a very catchable ball with different velocities.

I can believe that teams have inquired about trading for Bradford, but the Rams would be absolutely nuts to trade Bradford. While he didn't have a good year last season because of injuries to himself and many of the offensive players on the Rams. He is far better than any QB the Rams could select where they now sit on the draft board. If they were really interested in trading Bradford and taking a QB in this draft, they would have just kept the second pick and drafted RG3. They would have had no problem trading Bradford for another first round draft pick this year and possibly another first round pick in 2013.

According to the article, it appears the Rams are interest in trading up to draft Blackmon because they want Bradford to have a quality WR to throw to. One of the main reasons Fisher gave for signing with the Rams was because Bradford was the QB. I see zero chance that Fisher would trade Bradford to another team in the NFL.

I wish he was younger and had more time to sit and learn, but I am afraid that because of his age, he might be forced to start before he is ready. I certainly like him more than Tannehill, but I see him more as a third round pick than a first or second round pick. With two picks in the third round, it certainly wouldn't upset me if the Dolphins took a chance on Weeden with one of those picks. If he came here and was a decent QB for 5-6 years, it would make the pick worthwhile.

I don't see him ever being a top tier QB in the NFL, but I could see him possibly being a middle of the pack starter. This would certainly be better than most of the QB's the Dolphins have employed since Marino retired.

I'd have a tough time justifying more than a 3rd rd pick on a QB who will be older than the guy who started for us last year. If Weeden were 23 I'd love to get. At 28 not so much.

I think he is much much better than you are giving him credit for JW, this dude can do anything he wants with the ball, and is like a general on the field, really a controlled very talented football player..Also remember, he went toe to toe with our two favorites Luck and RG, and beat them both strait up.

    1. It sounds like you're looking at numbers & stats rather than video of him playing.
    2. What's your definition of "production"? What's your baseline to determine what is or isn't productive?

That's a pretty extreme statement/opinion. Not sure how using a 1st on a QB with all the tools you look for the be a franchise guy is considered "reprehensible", but to each his own I guess.

 No it doesn't. Hypothetically, if Tannehill is #1 on our board, the Browns taking him ahead of us would create pressure, not remove it.

Look at Ireland's preference at QB. Tannehill is very likely the guy. All things add up to Miami selecting him at 8. I don't believe that the Browns will go for him at 4. They'll probably go with Richardson, Blackmon will go at 6, Tannehill at 8.

Trent Richardson ran a 4.4 today, I have no doubt he will be the Browns pick at #4. Unless some team trades up to get Tannehill, I believe he will fall to us at #8.

Wouldn't be the worst pick they've made that's for sure. I do like him over Locker and Ponder no question. He could use another 5-10 lbs of muscle on him and at least a year of being groomed for the position, but I do like that drafting him gives the team direction.

I guess you and I can go back and forth on Tannehill. You obviously like him and want the Dolphins to take him in the first round. I feel differently and just don't see him as a good future starter in the NFL. I agree he is athletic, but I would rather see him as a third or fourth WR on the Dolphins Roster and certainly not the QB they draft in hopes he will be the long term answer at the QB position.

I watched him play in three complete games last season and I was not impressed with him as a QB. He appeared to lock in on one receiver and he didn't appear to make a lot of plays when he was forced to go away from his main receiver. Perhaps in three or four years he possibly could become an effective starter in the NFL, but I just don't think the Dolphins can risk a top ten pick on a player who may or may not turn into a productive player in the NFL. There are many other players the Dolphins can draft with the eight pick in the draft who can come in and contribute immediately. I would rather see the Dolphins draft one of these players and if they are determined to take a QB in this draft, they can always use one of their third round picks to draft a young QB who can sit and learn for the next few years.

If Tannehill is still on the board in the third round, I would have no problem with them drafting him at that point. I just think he is too much of a huge question mark to use a first or second round pick on him.

We have a bad reputation for drafting QBs in the 2nd round or trading our 2nd round for a QB. History will most likely repeat itself.

2 words for you: Aaron Curry.

No one is a lock for the NFL, not even the guy that EVERYONE says is a lock and the safest pick in the draft.
Virtually every player leaving college has to develop in the NFL, QBs especially.
But I get it, if there was a raw, 1st round considered QB whom you DID like, you would probably be advocating us to draft him rather than throwing out all these reasons why we shouldn't, am I right?

What does a 3rd round QB who sits and learns do for us? What problem does it solve once he's ready and he's likely no better than Matt Moore? Does that upgrade the position or merely add depth to it? That's not a knock on Moore b/c IMO we can win with him if things are going great, which makes him the perfect QB to have in place while grooming someone even more talented to eventually replace him.

exactly. Having an underlying natural ability to be outstanding at something doesn't mean you automatically will be, especially if it's a complex task.
It only means that through practice, repetition, and hard work, you have the ability to develop that skill to a level the average person simply can not. That's why lazy people with natural talent can be passed over by people who work harder--- b/c the underlying talent still has to be developed. However, while you're honing that natural talent, you're likely to not appear any better than an average ability person who's already been practicing it for years.

Tannehill's level of performance & success relative to his limited amount of practice is an obvious sign of an underlying natural talent, so to say that he's better suited for WR is completely absurd IMO.

I hope so. At least with him off the board, the Dolphins can hopefully draft a player who can come in and start immediately and have a long and productive career in the NFL. Tannehill is 2-3 years from being a starter in the NFL and I just don't think he will ever be a very productive starter in the NFL. I would love to see the Browns draft him, since I don't want him in Miami anyway.

What is there to refute? I don't see Tannehill as an effective future starter in the NFL. You and some others feel differently about Tannehill. I watched him play in three games last season and I was not impressed with what I saw. I am merely stating my opinion of Tannehill as a future NFL QB. I appreciate the fact that you and some others on here feel differently about Tannehill and his chances in the NFL to be a productive QB, but that still doesn't alter my opinion of him.

I am sure someone will draft him and we will all have a chance to see if he is productive in the NFL or not. I just hope it isn't the Dolphins who draft him and you want the Dolphins to draft him. This doesn't make either of us right or wrong, it just means we don't agree on the prospects of Tannehill once he enters the NFL. If the Dolphins do draft him, I hope I am totally wrong about him. I just don't think I will be wrong.

Remember this is merely a sports forum where opinions are expressed. We aren't the individuals making the decisions in free agency and in the draft. I certainly respect your opinion on Tannehill, but that doesn't mean I have to agree with it, just as you don't have to agree with my opinion.
