LOOKING........ "I'm LOOKING". Just like every NFL team who doesn't have one is "looking" for one...... or has one but is "looking" to groom his heir. At least Ross is emphatic about it.
And since the demand is significantly greater than the supply, "looking" is all that most teams will be perceived by their fans as doing.

Regarding "That's the highest thing on our agenda!", it seems you're trying to contort his statement out of context to justify criticism.
His words don't need interpretation. They're quite specific and forward. Combining both statements, he's saying "The highest thing on our agenda is looking for a franchise QB". "Looking" doesn't mean one magically appears or that Mr Ross can simply walk out back and pluck one from his franchise QB tree. C'mon now. We "looked" at Manning and then pursued him hardcore, hello.

Obviously Ross didn't say "The highest thing on our agenda is looking for an average QB who might not beat out Moore", so being mad about not getting Flynn isn't justified.

Now, every time I see a fan roughly saying "But you promised us a franchise QB", all I picture is a spoiled 4 year old pouting & throwing a tantrum in the checkout line b/c mommy won't let him have a candy bar.

Wait, you're logic is either there were a bunch of other teams that wanted Marshall for more than 2 3rd picks OR the Bears got fleeced?

Yeah, I think he's lying. I think he tried to soften the blow of an unpopular trade. Sorry. I don't take everyone at their word, especially when that person is concerened with dwindling season ticket sales and an offseason PR Nightmare like this one.

    Also, there's this:

Looks like the Dolphins would've saved some money if Marshall got suspended by the league this year. So yeah, it's bull****, but believe what you want. This FO hasn't given us a lot of reason to trust anything they do.

Oh I get it now. No way miami gets 2 3rd picks for Marshall if no one else wanted him, because you don't think Miami had any leverage.

Unless of course, Chicago thought we wouldn't have traded him. I mean, if I have something you want that you can't take by force, i have the leverage whether anyone else wants that thing or not.

Not a bunch. You're making a leap there. You said there was no other interest, I said there had to be some other interest. I'm saying IF the Bears were the only team interested, then wouldn't you consider that getting fleeced?

Let's also consider that the Dolphins have no one to replace Marshall with. Had they signed Vincent Jackson after trading him, we're not having this conversation.

Ross and Ireland don't care what the fans think. I think they've made that abundantly clear. I mean obviously they were so willing to overpay Flynn just to make us happy right?

They might of saved some money by hanging on to him isn't a good enough reason not to cut the cord, imo.

Correct. That's why I think Ross is lying. Either other teams were interested OR they were going to keep him.

You realize "if" he's suspended, he's not on the field, right?
That tidbit probably trumps saving money. lol.

I'm a huge Marshall fan, but what's it say that he needed a "suspension clause" added into his contract?

You're wrong. Ross does care. He cares a lot. Ireland doesn't give a ****, which is fine. My beef with him isn't that he doesn't care what the fans think, my beef is that we're 20-28 the last three years and a joke around the league.

I answered your first part in another post above.

The second part is silly. If we get rid of Koa Misi without having his replacement already, then will people be this upset? Let me say again, everyone is in love with the theory of Marshall not the reality of Marshall. The reality of Marshall was 9TDs in 2 years and off field problems. Marshall is going to light it up in Chicago, he DID NOT light it up here.

That makes zero sense. So we could of probably gotten more assuming there more people interested, but instead we gave him away for cheap just bc Ross is dumb? No logic there.

And the trade was done as soon as FA started. All the other FA WRs were still out there so nobody knew if we were bringing in another one or not. Little leverage lost there.

I think its the second thing. Why is that a problem? Most players will be traded if they can get the right price for them.

Which is fine, except now how do you replace that production? That's my main beef with this trade. I don't give two ****s about Marshall the person, honestly. I do care about what he brings to an offense. We'll see what happens in the draft.

It's funny that when you're beat, you resort to posting a GIF. It's the ultimate "give up". You've had your *** handed to you by several people on this site and done the same thing. It always makes me laugh, because it's easier for you to go a Google Image search than it is putting your opinions into writing.

6 TDs? I don't think 6 Tds are going to be hard to find. 1200 yards on 80ish rec? Divide that up between the next guy and the others we have. These are not great numbers. These are Ted Ginn numbers.....well the would be, if they had double the TDs.

All arrests are subject to a league investigation. Marshall wasn't arrested, so while he may face league punishment, it's not definite.

lol Well if you say it it must be true.

Like when you talk in circles and end up with "well we're still 20-28" after every other argument melts down to your speculation vs everything else that's reported. If the other people here want to continue watching you chase your tail talking circles then they can, but I'm bored with it.

But hey don't let logic or facts get in the way of your story.

You're harping too much on one stat. Don't become a slave to it. Marshall's production is the best we've had at WR in a long time. And Ted Ginn numbers? C'mon dude.

Not to point out the obvious here, but have you not noticed we're in contract negotiations with Long & Wake and have many other players to sign after this season?

You don't think it's possible Ross & Ireland did the following???:
    1. listened to what coach Philbin said about how he wants to run his offense and doesn't feel the need for a true #1 b/c he wants to spread the ball around.
    2. knows how Marshall feels about our QB situation b/c he's run his mouth about it on numerous occasions.
    3. knows about Marshall's risk factor & unpredictability.
    4. carefully scrutinized our cap situation in relation to everyone we want to re-sign.

Therefore, on one scale you have Marshall, his contract, and his concerns.
On the other scale you have Philbin's plans for the offense, the cap space needed to re-sign integral players Philbin & Ireland want to move forward with, and 2 3rd rounders to help cheaply build for the future. IMO it's easy to see how the balance could tilt in favor of the latter.

You make good points. I'm sure that could have been the case. And yes, Ireland has ****ing murdered our cap. Pretty sad to have a cap that looks like that and the record we've had. Wouldn't it be nice to have made the playoffs last year like Denver, and still have the cap space?

But here's my question: Why not just tear the whole ****ing thing down then? Think about it. You have a new coach who's going to run a new system. You wanna trade Marshall? Fine. Get rid of Dansby, Burnett, Bell (which they did) Fasano, everyone. Just clean house. Rebuild. Right? If you're gonna do it, do it from the ground up. Don't sign David ****ing Garrard. Ugh.

Hopefully it's replaced with a head coach who understands how to build a high production offense.
Hypothetically, if Philbin's presence and offense can net us 2 more points per game in 2012, then isn't that more important than Marshall's individual stats & production? That's all I'm sayin.

I want that one exciting offensive guy I can root for and grab his jersey out of the closet on game days, but I want to win even more. If that means never wearing my Marshall jersey again, then so be it. Thank God for Asian knock offs, right.
