FinD the issue I see with your thinking is this...in that time span where you are unsure of whether or not the QB you drafted is the right one what do you do? You can't just not improve your team to guarantee you'll be in position to draft another top prospect.

Meh. If you don't have the Vette yet, I think you should spend more resources in protection for when you get the Vette. OL and TE and Defense, is more important at this point.

What's the point of getting a Vette and boosting its octane, if the first time you open it up you wrap it around a telephone pole. After all a Vette without extras is still pretty fast but its useless in the shop.

Read the post above this one.

Get other pieces in place. In other areas of need.

You're confusing me now. We need to stop all this talk about octane and car purchasing and car crashes

What I thought your opinion was and correct me if I'm wrong, was that if you don't have a QB you shouldn't be too focused on putting pieces around your current one because in doing so you may lose out on the chance to draft your QB in seasons to come. Yet what you're saying now is that you should improve the team.

Not trying to criticize you at all, just curious as to where you stand.

PS, you missed the point of my post, dumdum.

I was comparing an elite QB to a Z06, saying that just b/c you have one it doesn't mean you're getting the most production from one. You still gotta give it the tools it needs to perform optimally, and the more you invest in it, the better it performs. You can trick him out with 1st round WRs, backs, and TE and watch him become one of the best that ever played in Peyton Manning style...... or you can take away everything and watch it break down with 13 interceptions over 5 games including 4 losses in Peyton Manning style.

As long as I don't have to watch anything 1999 Marino style....I was 9 and I remember that being sad

I don't have a problem with building the garage in advance to protect it with. I wouldn't go overboard and make it into a bomb shelter with an elevator and sh**, but I'd build one, possibly one with an electric opener, but manual might suffice temporarily.

Why get the Vette at all if you're more concerned about it being in the shop than you are turning it loose, grandpa? :tongue2:

Ok, I have said in other threads that WR is the least important of our holes.

I say that because its more important to get a QB and until we have one WR's are useless. I think we should spend our first round pick on a QB until we end up with a franchise. Not because first round equals franchise, but because you increase your chances of picking the guy you target. Its irresponsible, in this league, to get cute and hope the QB you want is available later.

In the meantime, spend your picks on setting up a solid safety net for when you get the QB. Which would be a an OL, a TE, and a solid D. All of that comes before WR, imo.

I didn't read all the posts, but was someone actually saying if you have Peyton in his prime you should never draft anyone on offense? Because if not, your point was the football equivalent of water is wet. If so, wow, that person needs to sue their parents.

You have to say this in Vette-eese or else none of it counts right now.

No, people have said that if you have Peyton you don't need focus on great talent for him b/c he's supposed to make everyone else so much better that you don't have to worry about it.

Following my logic it shouldn't take more than a decade to find the QB. So I don't see this as being a problem.

Ok baby bull, you go ahead and run down the hill to have sex with one.

I agree with much of this, except I wouldn't prioritize RT or G over WR since their net impact isn't as great due to the fact you can't put the ball in their hands and let them create on their own.

Personally, with all things equal (including talent of each player), my 1st round order with our team would go: QB, DE, WR, then Oline, (since there's no FS worthy). I'd take DE over WR b/c our defense currently represents our best chance of winning games. If we needed a LT, I'd put Oline ahead of WR.
