Glad Adenhart could get a win before being sent back down. Lackey is back Wednesday, thank God. Was a fun game to be at, the offense got going and Vlad is starting to swing the bat. Was nice to be on hand for OC to get his Gold Glove too.

More on OC, it's impossible to not like this guy. I really like Aybar, and think the trade made a lot of sense, but I'd love for OC to still be a part of the team.

I really miss Orlando but understand why we traded him. Its good to know he misses playing for the Angels and respects the orginization and the fans. I wish him the best of luck the rest of his career.

Lackey looked pretty good in his first start. Too bad we couldn't score any runs and Shields got lit up. Im looking forward to the freeway series coming up. I hate the Dodgers.:pity:

Nice. I still havent gone and seen the trophy :pity: I'll be at the big A next Friday when Toronto comes to town, I'll have to make a point to roam to that side of the stadium to check it out.

And I'm convinced our infield is cursed. Figgins comes off the DL and Aybar goes on it.

Wow, nice game last night :D

Los Angeles scored four of its runs on a wild pitch, a suicide squeeze, a passed ball and a bad pickoff throw to beat the Reds 5-2 Wednesday night under uncharacteristically windy conditions at Chavez Ravine.

Si revisited the top offseason trades. Looks like so far they think we came out ahead in the Garland deal.

I personally hate rating trades even after a year afterwards no less in May. But I am surprised how poorly OC is playing in Chicago. Garland is nothing special but he's giving the Angels innings and that's what they needed once Lackey and Escobar went down and isn't pitching bad either, which is a plus.

Anyway the trophy is in front of the team store behind home plate on the ground level.

As for curses, I do own a couple of books(pre-2002) that stated that we, and niether the Shawwks nor Cubs, were the most cursed team in baseball:pity:

At 32-22 the Angels are playing great ball. When Howie and Chone get back the Angels should pull away from everybody in the west.I realize I'm bias in saying this, but the Halos might be the best team(top to bottom) in the League.I know it's early in the season still and things can change quickly(injuries),but I like our chances to get to the WS this season.GO HALOS!!!!

Anyone else worried that Vlad isnt just in a slump?

I agree w/ you Phinatic, I think this team has a good chance but Vlad needs to revert to his old self to give us a chance to beat Boston. I like our pitching, BP, and lineup for the most part (even though the offense has been horrible lately).

    Figgins
    Kendrick
    Vlad
    GA
    Hunter
    Kotchman
    GMJ
    Napoli
    Aybar

That's an offense that can score runs, but it relies on Vlad hitting and Figgins getting on base.

Yes I'm very worried about Vlad (he's killing me on my fantasy team right now). He looked extremely old and beaten down towards the end of last year. I'm starting to wonder if it would be better just to keep him as a DH fulltime now to save his back, legs, shoulder and whatever else is hurting him.

I think the Angels are one of the best teams in baseball but if they don't have Vlad back to being Vlad, that line up doesn't look as scary.

I wasn't gonna mention it,but Vlad is starting to worry me too.I keep thinking he's gonna catch fire like he always does, but so far nothing.I think having Figgy out of our lineup has been the most costly "hit" to our team right now.Btw you gotta love our last minute heroics lately.

I said it last year(FH) or the year before, that I thought Vlad wasn't long for field play. Having him DH would also make us stronger defensively with Matthews Jr.in Right field.I also would like to see Rivera(power)get some playing time out there as well.

I wont be able to post after tonight because I'm headed to Seattle for a little vacation. Lucky for me the Angels just happen to be in Seattle while I'm there. Got tickets for the game Wednesday and I might try to get in on Tuesday as well. Heres hoping we can drop the Mariners even further :) I am looking forward to a game in Seattle's park, though.

Have a good time, I hope our rain stops for a few days for yuh.

Good game tonight BTW. My A's are hangin' in there without any offense to speak of most nights. The youngsters (Buck, Barton and Gonzalez) have to start hitting NOW!

Thanks, it was a lot of fun. Seattle may have a horrible team but their ballpark/city are top notch. First night we got seats 3 rows from the field right next to the Mariners dugout, and for Wednesday's game we were behind home plate. Had a lot of fun messing with some drunk Seattle fans the 2nd day. I'll try to post some pics when I get home and dump them off my camera.

It was cold, but the rain wasnt too much of an issue.

Your A's have been impressive. Angels can open a little lead if they hold on today. Hopefully they play this well when they come home.

They are hanging in there. Winning yesterday was HUGE for them...

Rich Harden is so good and he's managed to stay healthy for almost a MONTH! LOL!

Angels are looking good, and Vlad is starting to finally hit the ball hard. I cant believe how good Lackey has been since coming off the DL and Escobar is ahead of schedule and threw off a mound the other day. He's going to come back as RP, but adding him to the BP after the all-star break sometime will just add more depth to already solid unit. Him over Bootcheck? I like that upgrade.

Braves usually suck on the road. What happened? Our plan to injure Chipper in BP worked perfectly and it didnt matter lol.

It's good to have Figgy back, hopefully Saunders can rebound from his poor start last week and get #10 tomorrow.

edit: oops, Saunders pitches Sunday and Santana goes tomorrow...

Lackey is unbelievable. W/ Santana out of the AL, Beckett and CC struggling some I wonder this could be his year to get the Cy Young. It's obviously very early, especially for him since he missed so much time early on, but the guy is filthy atm.

It is unreal just how underrated and good John Lackey really is. I think right now the Cy Young race is between him and Kazmir.

I'm an A's fan, which it gives me the chills even being in this thread, but Lackey has been unreal. The guy has so much command its crazy. I even have him on my fantasy league team.

If Harden stays healthy for the full year, he'll be in the running too, we all know thats a big if. But i agree Kazmir and Lackey would make very good Cy Young canditates.

Some really good news on Escobar

If he comes back as a starter I wonder who's spot he takes; it has to be Weaver doesnt it? I mean as long as Saunders and Santana keep pitching the way they have you cant afford to not have them go every week. They've come back to earth a bit from their hot starts, but both have been than Weaver over the stretch.

Also, Aybar was activated from the DL, so for the first time in a while our entire infield is intact. Hopefully it can last for more than a few days.

Some info on possibly renovating the stadium for the All-Star game in the link as well.

Man those Halos' have too many good pitchers. Gotta say your relief with Shields , Arrando (SP?) and FRod is tought to beat.

As far as i see it, when Escobar comes back, Weaver might get moved to middle relief, granted the rest keep pitching as well as they have. I'm sure Scotia has been pondering htis good dillema to have for quite some time.

It's definitely a good position to be in. Weaver was pitching well before his last outing, maybe he'll get settled in a bit by the time Escobar is ready and it'll Mike's decision even tougher.

Weaver was unhittable in Spring training, what happened lol?

Weaver is usually very good. I think you add that the Angels bats have been good but not to what they are used to and maybe a little bit of command issues could be the problem, he's solid and i'm sure he'll work out the kinks.

Angels have been the best team in baseball on the road, hopefully a trip to Philly can fix things. ;)
