a better method might be for a season ticket holder that posts here to do a favor of passing this along. I bet thats an easier way to get through
Lets fly a banner over the stadium of our next home game and ask for these unis. I'm setting up the paypal account now for donations.
Mike Dee responded to the logo concept I tweeted to him: https://twitter.com/#!/MikeDeeFins/status/187970822172975104 I also tweeted that old school uni mockup (as have several people), so I am sure he has seen them by now. Not to mention, Reggie Bush and Vontae tweeted that uni mockup. Its hitting the eyes of the front office.
Cool skape, I perfer the logo without the sun burst as in my avatar pic. if they dont go old school logo (which I perfer) and change it completely then i wouldnt mind the one you have minus the sun.
Can you tweet him this for me Skape.. ''OB2''.the first stadium ever built with the number one priority in the blueprint is to intimidate, and facilitate and restore two different historic programs, Canes and Phins.
50 characters too long for twitter. Can you shorten it and clarify? You want them to build a new stadium? Or improve the current one?
Dee: Possible Slight Logo/Uniform Change for 2013 http://blogs.trb.com/sports/custom/business/blog/2012/04/miami_dolphins_consider_alteri.html Nothing drastic, but team President Mike Dee said the Dolphins are soliciting fan opinion and will consider alterations to their logo and look to take advantage of opportunities under the NFL’s new apparel licensing agreements. “I don’t think you’d ever see us consider something as radical as Tampa Bay did going from the orange to the pewter gray. … But I think we’re actively looking at ways to keep the brand current while respecting the great tradition and iconic value that we’ve been fortunate to inherit,” Dee said. “That may result in some change, it may result in subtle change, it may result in no change. It’s too early to tell, but we’re talking to fans and listening to fans.” At this point the Dolphin in front of the sun is a classic logo...hope they are telling the truth that they would only make slight changes, and not do what the Marlins did. Considering he said they won't do what Tampa did, no reason to worry that they'll change the classic look. If they do anything they should just remove the navy blue lines, so its like a cross between the old one and the current one, and make the Aqua the lighter version from the 60s-90s. I wouldn't be surprised if they removed the navy shadow from the numbers on the jerseys. I just wonder how they are talking to fans...???
I believe they will wait to see..what kind of personality the team develops with Coach Philbin. I would love to see.....them make a change similar to the degree we saw with the Patriots.....when they changed from the Pat in a down stance to their current...modern logo
I'm old school. I liked the old Patriots uniforms and logo with Pat Patriot on the helmet. Other than the classic Dolphins uniforms, the old Patriots uni was one of my favorites. I'd go throw back if anything. Of course some new fancy space age Dolphin on the helmet could help the team play better.
Time to stop living in the past, time for some updates! Lets see something modern and something that stands out.
i am so sick of the crapy all white uniforms it would be refreshing to have a different color helmet a light gray helmet with a blue arch over the dolphin. its a shame dolphins fans haveno imagination its like we like white, white, white and thats it. come on people a teal and orange I dont like the one color look mainly thewhite pants , helmet and jersy oor the all orange is not exciting but the orange jersey and and a aqua helmet and pants with wide aqua stripes would be exciting but please stop with all white uniforms they are without a doubt the ugliest uniforms and its a damn shame we cant have a different color helmet because two different or eve three different color helmets woould be refreshing.
No its time to "START" living in the past. It's the only time this franchise has been good. All White with a tweak back towards the traditional logo is where its at... I could give a damn if they put on an alternate pink tuu tuu now and then but you can bet that the all whites and old logo will be in demand among the fans having an input. So ya'll might as well get over it
Doesn't seem to hurt the Colts, Steelers, Bears, Packers, Raiders, 49ers, et al, to have the same logos and same basic uniforms as they did in the 60s. The Dolphins logo is just as classic.
I dunno, I find things like winning games to exciting and refreshing. I could give a flying fvck about more colorful uniforms or multiple helmet colors.
I would like them to go the aqua they had in the 70's which was more blue than green... And the white on white is not crappy.... it is classic I'm gonna walk into your house and kick your tukkis tradition which I hope this team somehow, someday, manages to recapture. This ain't the arena league... this is the NFL... If anything, I'd rather go back to a VERY slightly refreshes version of the classic throwback.. Just so as we don't wind up with those absolutely nauseating orange monstrosities. Those things would gag a maggot! Oh, BTW - take a look at the color of the deep ocean in my sigpic.... THAT is the color of the sea even in the midst of a storm. Not that insipid aqua on the uniforms we have now!!!!
I'm pretty old school. But I wouldn't mind seeing some tweaks and even possibly losing the helmet on the dolphin's head.
Miami is not a traditional kind of place. I would love for the Fins to do something modern and forward-looking. Keep similar elements but make it modern and awesome. The good old days are over. I don't want to pine for something I never myself experienced.
Don't you mean you're not a traditional kind of person? You clearly have no clue as to what Miami is/was/could be...
I want to keep the throwbacks for the folks that deserved to wear them: the hard nosed, kick in the teeth, bad *** mofos that already wore them. Move forward instead of looking back. IMO.
I'm very much a traditional kind of person but Miami isn't a place of tradition. It's a very modern place and even its old traditional buildings are quite modern looking. I would use the Marlins as an example of embracing what Miami is about. I would not go for something as abstract as the Marlins but I would do something more modern and sleek. Something similar to the Dolphin Stadium logo used a couple years ago.
Miami is rich in it's own traditions which do not go back 100 years such as cities like Boston. But it's stayed the same for decades. Miami created and kept with their looks, which, 30 years ago, seemed strange but now are considered in themes. The Marlins rented a venue since 1993. They HAD to change their name in order to get the money to build their own. It had nothing to do with wanting to change their image. The City of Miami insisted they change it ...
While I like the white on white, I don't see Miami as a tradition rich place and least in the eyes of most of the country. That doesn't mean there are no traditions, obviously there are, but not as many or as long as many other areas. We have too much of a transplant population from the Northeast, the Caribbean and S. America.
Is it really a tradition if it's only existed for as long as the cell phone? The whole city is unique and modern and unlike anywhere in the US. I think the Dolphins should bank on that modernity and coolness. They could do a lot better than a generic Dolphin on a sun or a cartoony Dolphin on a sun. To me, the Heat and Marlins have really embraced the themes and look of Miami. The Marlins are a little out there, but Loria is an artsy fartsy type and we knew he wasn't going to be hopelessly retro like most of the MLB adheres to. Yes, the Marlins had to change for Miami, but they didn't have to go in the direction they did. They could've gone for a retro look like the Miami Marlins of the 1950s, but they did not. I just think it would be cool to have something modern and indicative of Miami. I don't want Miami to try and be like blue collar/traditional places like Pittsburgh, Green Bay, and Indianapolis.
It's kind of hard for Miami to have been around as long as the Cities where the United States started. Miami was founded with a population of 300 in 1896. Boston was founded in 1630...
Miami's rich tradtion was its unique growth which was long before the cell phone. The 50's and 60's was where Miami started to grow and grow. Been here 45 years and to say Miami is not a traditional town is wrong. It's just not as old as most cities.
So you think that Miami teams should embrace 50s and 60s styles? My whole point is they should be modern. Think of LA teams, they're associated with Hollywood and glamor even though Los Angeles was around prior to people knowing of it as the town of movie stars. Also, sure there was population growth in the 50s and 60s, but it's not like the explosive growth that occurred during the 90s and 00s. I don't understand why you'd want to associate the team with the city when it was God's waiting room rather than what it is today as an international city that is only behind NYC and Los Angeles in terms of glamor and star power.
Exactly. I grew up in Miami and I've traveled extensively. The large majority of the population is made up up families with three generations or less in the area. Traditions have obviously arisen during that time, but fewer than in places with more longevity. So, relatively speaking, S. Florida is not a place with as many traditions.
The only coolness I want to see is wins. Heck, we could go to uniforms as plain as Penn State or Stanford, and I wouldn't care. Just win baby.
Good point. The Dodgers, the #1 sports team in LA, have not changed their logo or basic style since they moved there from Brooklyn. They are about as traditional as a major sports team could get, and there they are, right in among all that Hollywood glitz and glamor.
Incorporated in 1896, but been inhabited much longer. Places like San Francisco and Oakland were also incorporated in the 1800s. Two cities where the NFL teams do not seem to have fans clamoring to change their VERY traditional logos and colors.
