If the dolphins were to trade dansby what would you expect in return? I say a second round pick or maybe the ability, packaged with some other picks, to get back into the first round. Maybe with one of those 1st rd picks we grab the MLB from BC. I bring it up because in my mind he's performing the money we pay especially since we're rebuilding.
speak English much good? seriously, I have no idea what this is trying to say. I think the idea of cleaning house is silly. If someone wants to offer us a 1st round pick where we can grab Kuechly, fine, take it and run. But I'd rather have Dansby than a 2nd round pick right now.
under performing*. LOL i forget one word which is easily infered and that gives you the right to discredit my point? get a life homer. dansby is garbage for the money we payed him. Just a reminder, being a fan of a team doesn't mean you have to love everything the front office does. We've been a joke for almost 15 years now. Time to stop drinking the kool aid.
and you're not getting a first for him unless you couple it with other picks/players because he sucks for the money he's getting.
He's certainly overpaid, but we knew this the second the contract was announced, and in fact we cheered it. As for his trade value, you're simply inserting your opinion of his play in the stead of the other 31 NFL GMs.
LOL don't bother then dupree. I'm sure the response would have been; " I love jeff ireland and dansby is the best!". You're nuts if you think dansby was worth the money, plus his age and the status of our team which at best will be 8-8 next season.
As opposed to your witty "he sucks" comment. This thread is pure trash and belongs in the rant forum at best. If your going to start a thread...at least bring some real discussion.
so in reference to the initial question, what would you expect if he were traded. Obviously it's my opinion and not the opinion of the other 31 gms in the league. that's why you post on fan sites like this, to get the opinion of other fans. The thread took a wrong turn because I omitted the word UNDER. If it's your opinion that dansby is the best then go ahead and think that.
the thread is trash because I don't worship everything the dolphins do? Whatever man. He's not young anymore, he had a poor season last year till the last quarter worth of games and he's a huge cap number on a team that's rebuilding. thats the discussion. what would you expect to get if he were traded.
there was no witty "he sucks" comment to start the thread. I said he was under performing his contract plus the fact we are a bottom ten football team that needs mulitple talent upgrades at key positions. what would you expect in return for dansby? is anyone going to answer the question of just RA RA RA cheerlead for dansby?
All due respect, that kind of answers your question. It says that some think highly enough of Dansby that he shouldn't be trade bait.
not worth answering because it's a silly question. Dansby is playing well enough that trading him now would be stupid unless some team is going to highly overpay for him. He's a good LB. Is he pro-bowl? no, unfortunately, but it doesn't mean we should trade him. How you mistake that for "cheerleading" is beyond me. and BTW, your first post was missing more than one word, which is why it was so unintelligible.
You know what he's trying to say. You disagree with it, I'm sure which is why you ridiculed his wording. It isn't that hard to deduce what he meant. Like you, I also disagree with him.
I feel the team is rebuilding and we would be foolish to refuse a 2nd round pick for dansby. He hasn't exactly been this huge playmaker for us the last 2 years with only 5 sacks,2 FF,1 INT,AND 0 FR.Factor in he is going to be 31 in nov I would do the trade in a heartbeat. The problem is nobody is going to offer us a 2nd rd pick for an aging overpayed Ilbs.
I'm trying to think of a LB in the NFL thats as versatile as Dansby. Once I think of one Ill share my opinion on the OP.
Just what we need another hole to fill.... There really isn't any such thing as rebuilding any longer in the NFL...we're retooling...besides that, until we go thru the draft, why would you, as I said, create another hole ??
We won't get what value he has to this team...that's the answer...why create another hole to fill. The thinking that because we traded the bum Marshall that we are rebuilding is ridiculous?? We have new offensive and defensive schemes...we have some holes and we've created a few more because of the change in schemes...So trading off Dansby to someone isn't the answer, especially since we'll never get what he's worth to the team right now...
You just called Dansby good and Marshall a bum in so many words....there is zero hope for fish fans at this rate. If you can get a 3rd you trade his overrated ***, he got a fat contract and has played about as average as you could imagine....no big plays just an average football player on the backside of his career. Hated the signing then...hate it now.
You might have wanted to dig a little deeper as to how to get rid of him. His salary has to play a big part in it. Would be put a further stain on next years cap, and would it put them over the cap this season? Or another consideration would be how much is he due for the rest of his contract? That might tell you a lot as to what his worth is. He is a very good Lb. That's a fact! Is he overpaid? I would say he is but towards the end of the season, he played really well.
Dansby is not the edge rusher so 5 sacks is not that bad. He is a versatile Lb, who does a pretty good job in coverage and is a good run stuffer. Surely he is overpaid because he is not great at anything but his age and salary would deter any type of worthy pick.
Yes we had a poor season but are you saying that we should trade players that didnt play badly? Makes no sense.
I agree with the sacks but really when you come out and say you are the best linebacker in the league don't so up for camp 30 lbs overweight and play like **** to start the season. I do agree nobody will offer a worthy pick for him so the point is moot.
If you got rid of all of the players who didn't play up to their contract it seems like we would be getting rid of half of the team. You might be able to replace Dansby in the draft, but you may not be able to also. He may not be a great linebacker but he is better than more than a handful of Dolphin linebackers who have come and gone recently.
Not answering for O.F. but I had the same problem and I'm not in disagreement with him, per se. I don't have trouble trading older talent for younger if we are in a rebuild. But, I don't think we'll get much value. The problem is, unless you are as good as the top 2-3 ILB's in the league, the position warrants so little in value in the NFL these days that we would not get much value, imo.
This is not the player you wanna give up on now, when talent finally realizes that the offseason work is just as important, it can be quite the revelation.
Trading Dansby would be about as dumb as trading Marshall was. All it would do is create another gaping hole on the roster.
I like Dansby a lot as a player. But the fact of the matter is you would get probably no better than a 3rd-4th rounder. He was a free agent 2 years ago and we offered him the largest contract. Higher than anyone else did while he was a free agent. Why would any of the other teams who passed on giving him that salary a couple years ago, now give him that salary and a high draft pick? He is a good player. We will be building through the draft and his contract will be off the books before we are ready to sign a high priced FA to bring us into contention.
Sorry...as to yardage production, Marshall was no bum, as to TDs ( the primary production monitor for a WR) he was a bum. The other things he took from the team, the off field stuff, the locker room stuff and the trouble he created for the staff, he was a bum....Dansby has been productive, save for a slow start last season (which I might add was rampant among D players last season)...Sorry you don't like the signing...I did and still do... This D would be a lot worse without him...There apparently is no hope for Fish fans, is there ??
What is Dansby getting paid last i heard it was 750k. Not worth risking the reward of him on the field at this time.
