If Tannehill is there at #8, do you take him? Even if Richardson or Blackmon Slips?

Saved money cutting Bell too, iirc.

You're just speculating we don't bc a deal hasn't gotten done yet. It largely depends on the amount and how they load it.

Ryan would be beginning the season on IR since our OL had just gotten him killed for the 4th straight year?

We get another WR or LB in the 2nd and fill another need if we don't think Tannehill is legit.

    Nobody knows til it happens.

Ah yes, the ol' O-Line excuse. A classic. Aaron Rodgers takes a ton of sacks. He took 50 in 2009. GB's line has been consistently horrible. Shouldn't he be dead by now?

    Well, let's see:

Arguably one of the best players in the draft...check.
Arguably the best WR in the draft...check.
Fills an obvious void we now have for a #1 WR...check.
If we take him at #8, we stand a pretty good chance of reuniting him with Weeden in the second round...check.

    OK, yeah...I'm down with that.

If Tannehill is off the board,
my first choice would be Coples. Second is a toss up between Floyd & DeCastro.
I'm with Muck--- no high 1st round running back (unless he's a Marshall Faulk 2.0 in an offense that doesn't require him to get pounded).

If no Tannehill, I'd be thrilled with the following first 5 rounds:
    1. Coples or trade back for DeCastro
    2. ILB Dont'a Hightower (natural fit for our defense IMO b/c he allows Dansby & Burnett to stay at OLB in base, and in nickel he fills our need at pass rushing RDE)
    3. TE Dwayne Allen (it's possible he slips this far just as past talented Hback-type TEs have)
    3. WR Greg Childs (Marshall's replacement. Jordy Nelson type player IMO)
    4. OLB Demario Davis (total stud. gives us time to groom Dansby or Burnett's replacement in advance which could save us some nice cap space in the future)
    5. QB BJ Coleman (after Tannehill & Weeden, he might have the most upside to work with and develop)

If you're not picking on me specifically, then don't quote my post to do so b/c I've made it quite apparent that Tannehill is my first choice.

Added: At what point does a potential HOF impact guard not represent a "damn good player"? :001_rolleyes:
Ask a team who has one of these type players how much they mean to their offense.

  13. We need an elite #1 receiver and if blackmon's there I think we have to take him, he's the best receiver in the draft where as tannehill is overhyped and not worth that high of a pick.

More like the point wasn't valid to begin with. But yet here we are.

You asked where we would be and with as bad as our OL was, I do not think Ryan would still be in one piece.

Rodgers also got cracked and knocked out of a good amount of games behind his so I wouldn't dismiss it so quickly.

But not cracked hard enough to prevent him from winning the Super Bowl.

Was Matt Moore injured last year? I'm to assume that Matt Moore is tougher than Matt Ryan? I guess Chad Henne got hurt, and what a BRUTAL hit he took, lemme tell ya.

No, you're missing the point. The quality of O-Line play doesn't = QB success. And there's no way to predict if a guy would've been injured or not. That's ridiculous.

And Ryan hasn't been a success in ATL where his situation is worlds better than it would of been here.

What's ridiculous is to still think we should of taken him instead of Long. Just because our team wouldn't be that much worse off if we did  Solid reasoning.

    the poor house
if your answer is Tannyhill over Blackmon then dolphins fans are pretty stupid because Tannyhill isnt a playmaker Blackmon is so much better and we need him . dolphin fans just donthave a eye for talent . i was afraid of this . the Miami media is focusing on guys who sux and now dolphin fans are settling for less. well I hope fin fans are ready for more losing. we need playmakers we need offense and all i hear is miami is drafting defense . taking cheap players is pissingme off because that is all miami dolphins have is average players . sometime miami needs to get some star power to fill the stadium. Matt Moore and devon Bess will not enticepeople tocome to games.

I don't take Tannehill unless we trade back and he's there in the 20s. Not worth it. I take as close to sure talent as we can get - regardless of position.

So he'll at least be the 3rd best QB in the division.

With certain Qb's is absolutely does = Qb success. You put a crappy offensive line in front of Tom Brady and he becomes good instead of great. You get by his left tackle consistantly and he becomes scared to death.

His reasoning would be that he is a JETS fan, who are, quite used to screwing up top picks in the draft!! So he wishes, hopes and prays that Miami does the same. Notice how he totally ignores the fact that a player like Blackmon could slide to #8? It's highly unlikely he does but a player slides in every single draft....

I think Brady is great no matter what. I think guys like him, Rodgers, Brees; put 5 tackling dummies in front of them and they're good. Now, other guys? Maybe it's the difference between good and great.

I look at a guy like Matt Moore who took what, 30 sacks? How many times did he hold the ball and stare downfield until the front finally got to him? Same with Chad Henne for that matter.

I do agree to a point on some Qb's but the blueprint to beat Brady is knocking him on his butt. Invented by the Dolphins when JT was in his prime. He is rattled when consistant pressure comes from the backside.

Agreed, and I think that's the blueprint to beating any great QB. The game has changed now in that much more emphasis has been put on drafting DB's and pass rushers early, as opposed to RB's and offensive lineman.

Okay, but I was the one calling Snatcho out as a very below par QB from day one. Seems like all I heard from you in particular was how good his footwork and vision were and that he could make all the throws......... IJS :tongue2:

Tannehill will be a terrible terrible disappointment to which ever team reaches for him....unless they get him in the second round.....and play him at WR......

I agree to some extent, but actually, obviously, its the Gints that have drawn up the perfect blueprint to beat Brady...and it involves getting MUCHO pressure from multiple angles and doing it with only 4 guys.

They have so many interchangeable parts on that defensive line, and alone none are world beaters, but coming in after resting a down, each and every one of them is a threat to put the QB on his butt. THAT is how you beat Brady....and I do think we take a top-notch pass rusher if not in the 1st, then 2nd round!

Blackmon at #8 overall would be a steal. He'd make our QB's look much bettter! Grab a QB later in the draft. 8 is too high for anyone we could get there.

    1) Yes...but let me qualify my opinion is without a significant amount of scouting/film work done personally. It's based on the draftniks, guru's and overall opinions on the these boards. I can't say with certainty that I think he's going to be a franchise guy. But can we afford to take the chance that he does become a franchise guy and we've passed on him... Also let me add that IF Ireland passes on Tanny, I won't be jumping off the 24th floor ledge...I would then have to assume that Sherman/Philbin have made their decision based on what's best for the team.

2a) While Richardson is one of the top 6 or 7, I wouldn't take him since we have RB and Thomas is still young. Our new offense won't be based on the running attack anyway. It will rely on the short passing game to open up the lanes for Thomas and Bush... It's just not worth taking a rb at that spot, for us...

2b) Blackmon also is one of the top guys. He's very intriguing since we haven't replaced Marshall...However, as others have said, if you don't have the guy throwing the ball to him, what good is drafting him.

2c) Any of the qualified pass rushing OLB/DE's that are available...No. It's a real dilemma no matter which direction Ireland takes. It's apparent that they aren't sold on MMoore and/or Garrard. There is pressure from the owner down to the worst Dolphan to get that franchise guy. I don't think it's in his DNA, but I think Ireland bows to the pressure and takes Tanny if he's there at #8 and assuming Philbin/Sherman are on board. I don't think they will trade up at all. They may trade down if the right deal comes along and the main two or three guys they are looking for are gone...(Coples, Tanny, Blackmon????)

that is the point...unless the qb is an abosulute stud then the o line is more important. hell, even a stud like brady is pretty horrible under any kind of pressure. for an example, see how the giants have won two super bowls during a period we havent even won a playoff game....best d line in football.
