Agreed with this part. I don't think Odrick would be ideal as a true 4-3 end. If you were to make him a closed end in a 4-3 under type of defense (essentially this 4-3/3-4 hybrid that's been talked about), he's essentially playing Kendall Langford's DE spot from last year, provided Miami's got someone playing as a SAM next to him. I'd imagine that's Koa Misi, Jamaal Westerman, or a draft pick (I think Ingram or Upshaw would be ideal for this role) duking it out for that job. Manny Lawson had this role last year in Cincinnati for the Bengals, but they were fortunate that Carlos Dunlap is one of the better up-and-coming ends in the NFL.

No I think Weeden can step in at some point during the year and produce. He is the 3rd best QB in this draft. I'd love to trade down to around 15 or even 20 and take Weeden.

Great player but imo we need someone who is going to play opposite of Wake end of discussion. If they think Coples is the guy and he is there then great. Personally I think Perry is worth a #8 pick and has more potential to grow and become even better than Coples does. I just don't see us looking at Cox unless it's a pick and trade or something like that. I honestly think the Jets want Perry and I will be pissed if they get him

I disagree. I've watched plenty of his tape and not just "good games" or highlights. His short to intermediate separation is very good. His deep separation is avg. not everyone needs to be a speedster and a vertical threat to play WR. Second, with regards to YAC he is 6'3 227 pounds and cannot be brought down by a sole DB. He can outrun linebackers and needs to be gang tackle the majority of the time. I have no problem whatsoever with his YAC

    In regards to UCf FINatic

Why wouldnt we be able to "afford" to not get any impact from the 8th pick? If we do get impact, whats the overall outlook of our season going to be? 7-9 or 8-8 vs. 6-10? Passing up on an 8-8 season over a 6-10 one for the chance to develop a franchise QB is well worth it.

That is my point though. Palmer wasnt raw at all. However, the Bengals still saw it prudent to still groom him properly for a year. Rookie QBs never used to start day one. They only have started doing it regularly recently due to the money they were being paid. Why wouldnt it go back to the old ways of grooming QBs now that teams are no longer under the same financial pressures? I think it will... and its a good thing.

Frankly I think Cox can play LE. He's played it before and he would effectively shut off and I mean completely shut off a team's running game to the strong side. If you do that the weak side with Starks and Wake will do their jobs, leaving you with really nowhere to run.

    Cox
    Soliai
    Starks
    Wake

In a one-gaping scheme that line is pretty much a guarantee that other team's will pass the ball or run a draw. Don't forget you can rotate McDaniels and Odrick in there constantly.

I do think Cox can play anywhere his feet want..he's extremely athletic and very strong, but still, I think we have a player in mind that can present some interesting mismatches in MCD.
