Holy CRAP!! The sh*t has hit the fan big time in New Orleans. This could make Spygate 1 look tiny in comparison.

Busted yet again no wonder they rack up 5000 yard seasons just like the Cheatriots.
They'll just loose a 5th round pick next year at most.
That teams honor has gone to hell.

    HOLY SHHH!! Crazy!!

Somewhere, Belichick is laughing his arse off thanking the Saints.

There should be random third party audits conducted by the NFL of all teams' facilities to ensure this doesn't happen.

Well, it was supposedly from 2002-2004. Right, like they stopped doing it and THEN went to the Super Bowl.

I think Brees should be released from the franchise tag

That is an acceptable penalty Roger.

Not sure this allegation will hold up, its one anonymous source and no physical evidence, and it's unlikely any other evidence will be forthcoming. So whilst ESPN can probably get away with running the story I doubt any investigation will result in any punishment for the Saints, and it may well just be the words of a disgruntled employee/ex-employee anyway.

You have to figure that after this, that Loomis will likely be fired soon. This is now the third incident.

PFT, Bill Polian and Schefter all had a good point on this:

It would be impossible for Loomis to decipher what the opposing coaches were saying and then transmit it to his coaches with enough time to make the information useful. All in all, it would be enarly impossible to gain any real competetive advantage doing this. Loomis isn't an X's and O's guy and could not possibly understand the verbiage with any clarity or accuracy.

That being said, if they were doing it, it is simply the height of hubris. they just thought they could get away with it so they did

I do not think it is right what they did, but if I were a member of the Saints, I would be pissed off if they were punished while the Patriots has not suffered punishment for the first Spygate scandal.

I agree that it probably doesn't provide anything during the game itself. But I think it does still provide a competitive advantage, especially when you're talking about division games.

Here's the thing though, you play divisional foes twice a year. Are they saying that no one could decipher those calls between game 1 and game 2 to get an advantage of what teams like to run in certain situations?

Also, they're assuming that Loomis would be the only person listening to this tape. I can guarantee you that if there was a wire, and Loomis had access to it, he wasn't the only person listening to it. That would be dumb.

Considering that those tactics may be the only reason why they were in the Super Bowl, and that it was their lower first rounder, I would hardly call it a punishment.

They're saying Loomis had a headset and a box with a switch that he could flip to listen to the offense and defense of the opposing teams. Just a guess on my part here, but could he have two-way communication between the coordinators and the opposing head coach? This is bad. It actually reminds of something I head about 10 years ago but didn't believe: Everyone cheats in every sport. Football, baseball, basketball - everyone. They all cheat.

Between steroids, Spygate, Tim Donaghy and now this, Jesus. It's true.

Before anyone says it...if the $hit keeps hitting the fan and the unthinkable of Brees wanting out happens, don't get your hopes up. He will not come to the organization that spurned him already, even with all of them gone. After Manning I've lost all hope of the Dolphins ever getting a QB through free agency or trade.

totally agree, not one suspension a fine that was probably played by the billionaire owner and loss of a pick that was all the way at the bottom of the 1st round didnt touch the top 10 pick that they had, it was nothing for the crime that was committed, and to me its why the saints punishment for the bounties was too severe, but goodell picks and chooses who he wants to hit hard and who not to

Well, you could take away their ENTIRE draft for a year, and maybe a couple first rounders in the following years. On top of that don't allow the team to use the Franchise tag for a couple years.

No way. The ramifications would be insane. Guys would just be out there trying not to get hurt. They'd lose every game. What a mess.

I think if this is true, you need take away two or three 1st round picks, fire Mickey Loomis, make Brees go to another team and force them to take Aaron Brooks back and start him at QB immediately.

Dolphins coaches would talk about how their communications systems would magically become problematic during fourth quarters up there.

So now we know what separates the good coaches on the Parcells tree from the bad ones (Sparano) the ability to cheat.
