I don't know enough about the draft to do an entire 7 round mock. However, here's my prediction of how the draft will shake out: We trade down from the #8 spot to somewhere in the lower 20s and pick up an extra late-second round pick. With our new, late first round pick, we draft Melvin Ingram. With our second round pick (#38), we draft Weeden. With our new, late second round pick, we take Bobby Massie, OT - Ole Miss I'm all-but-certain Ireland will trade down from #8.
What I want to happen is in my sig. What will happen: 8. Reiff/Decastro 42. Massie 73. Brandon Thompson 74. Zebrie Sanders BJ Coleman (I can just see the press conference now...."Hey I heard the fans calling for a QB so I tried to draft one. See Im not such a bad guy" - JI) Scrub Scrub Scrub
8. Jonathan Martin 42. Jake Bequette 73. Jeff Fuller 74. Marcus Forston 103. Ryan Lindley 145. Chris Greenwood 196. Armon Armstead 215. Chris Anzevino
I'm all but certain that trading down would be his preference anyway. However, there's the old "find a partner" thing with that. It's really simple to say "trade down" but it's not all that simple to get exactly what you (or I) would want from that trade down partner...
I understand all that. He wanted to trade down 2 years ago and found a willing partner in San Diego. Maybe Philly will trade up to take Tannehill. Or maybe Blackmon will slip to us. Or maybe he'll trade down for less than "value". But he WILL trade down.
I see Philly trading up to us to get either Cox or Barron. We then take Weeden with Philly's first round pick. Nab Massie with our 2nd pick. take a WR with our 2nd pick obtained from Philly.
What will happen: 1. Fletcher Cox, DT 2. Brock Osweiler, QB 3a. Donald Stephenson, OT 3b. Rishard Matthews, WR 4. Chris Greenwood, CB 5. Audie Cole, ILB 6. Desmond Wynn, OG 7. Ernest Owusu, DE
How about if Cleveland elects to take Richardson or someone other than a QB at #4 and we trade #8 to them so they can beat Kansas City to Tannehill and in return we get their #22 1st round pick, their 2nd round pick #37 and a 4th rounder #118? We would still be in the top 25 picks and they would still have two 3rd round picks and a 4th round pick along with the rest of their remaining picks. We would then have two 2nd round picks, two 3rd round picks and two 4th round picks.
Well... here's what I think will happen. I think we pass on Tannehill and target Russell Wilson in the 3rd round. 8. Quinton Coples - DE 42. Bobby Massie - OT 73. Marvin McNutt - WR 74. Russell Wilson - QB 103. Devon Wylie - WR 145. Jerry Franklin - LB 196. Desmond Wynn - OG 215. Kyle Fiedorowicz - TE
I agree that if a trade can be negotiated, we will trade down out of the #8 spot. I also don't think we will draft Tannehill, assuming he is still OTB when we select in the first round. I also don't see us drafting Weeden. I believe our first round pick will be a pass rusher, and one of our two second round picks will be an O-lineman. The other second round pick will be another defensive player. I think we will draft at least two WR's. No big splashes, nothing sexy. All very ultra conservative picks. JMHO.
I predict that with our pick in the first round we will draft a football player from a school in the NCAA.
#8---- LB Luke Kuechly I think this kid is going to play MLB at a very high level for a very long time, while I feel it may be a bit of a reach he is a great prospect who brings ability and consistency to a key position. He has the athleticism to stay with the Gronkowski's and Kellers, and can be a playmaker in the middle. Too early or not the more I see him play the more I would be happy to have a mainstay at MLB the next 12-15 years. #42---- DE Vinny Curry Another high character guy with great ability. Like Cam Wake gives 110% on every snap, can come in and play 3 downs as a 4-3 DE becuase he flat out gets after it against the run as well as the pass. One cant be sure the type of scheme the Phins will play as far as the 4-3, I feel Odrick could move outside depending on the make up of the defense. But as a traditional 4-3 DE? Big fan of Vinny Curry. #72----WR Brian Quick By now our offensive minded coach will have went nuts but as an old coach once said..."Make haste slowly" 6'4 220 with good football speed and a huge red zone threat wich is something Miami has lacked for a long time. I think he can be Philbin's version of Greg Jennings at some point not as fast but more physical. #73----TE Ladaruis Green Now Philbin has his "fix" two potentially dynamic pass catching threats with back to back picks. Now Joe get's his "Finley" in Miami with Green. I have been high on his pass catching ability from the first video I watched of him, and one thing that isnt factored in is the poor QB play the Rajun Cajun had to work through. #103----OT Mitchell Schwartz Played both right and left tackle in college, Schwartz could come in and compete for and fill a huge void left by All World RT Marc Colombo who SADLY retired today. #145----CB Leonard Johnson Physical and a good tackler, played pretty well on Justin Blackmon in the upset over Ok St also doubles as a KR. #196----OT Andrew Datko His health issues could have him dropping this far, but he was a beast at LT for the Seminoles when healthy. If his shoulder checks out ok could be one of the bigger steals of the draft. #213----QB Austin Davis He is already a good decision maker so that is a huge start as far as developing, nice project for Philbin here in the last round.
1st Round - Quinton Coples 2nd Round - Brandon Weeden. Tannehill only if they have no desire for Weeden. They need a QB...only non-1st round QB who wouldn't make fans want to burn their remaining Dolphins gear would be Weeden.
Well, as I peruse thru the internet and my dvr of draft shows this past week or so, knowing that it's exact science (hehehe) I am really, really warming up to Luke Keuchly... The emphasis of this defense is shifting to the LBers versus the DL. Dansby is our best LBer, but Keuchly is really special...He'd represent exactly what we need in the middle of the field when playing the NE's of the NFL... I don't think they pass on Tanny, but Keuchly looks really good to me...
Luke Kuechly, ILB, Boston College not a sexy pick but fills big needs especially vs TEs Kevin Zeitler, G, Wisconsin still not sexy but building the o-line is a priority Mohamed Sanu, WR, Rutgers has that element the WR core is missing Zebrie Sanders, OT, Florida State we need one, we got one
We trade back with the Eagles, they get Cox and we steal Ingram from the Jers a pick before theirs and we get additional picksin the second
I'm really against us drafting Coples at 8. So much so that I just know it's going to happen. I actually think Kendall Langford was a better pass rusher coming out of college than Coples is now. And then you factor in that he took last year off. Isn't as stout against the run as you'd expect, given his size. I think he has bust written all over him. What I want is in my sig... Curry is a freaking beast!! What will happen though? 1. DE Coples 2. G Amini Silatolu 3a. QB Brock Osweiler 3b. LB Nigel Bradham 4. WR Nick Toon 5. DB DeQuan Menzie 6. WR Junior Hemingway 7. T Andrew Datko
