Obviously a huge need for our franchise is quarterback. Since Dan we haven't found the answer. I want to take the time in this thread to collect everyone's honest opinion on quarterback descisions in our franchises history. If I miss a big quarterback related event you post it in your answer.

Jay Fiedler - A glorified game manager that had a knack for throwing the pick 6. Wadsofcock stuck with him for way too long. Horrible player carried by one of the best defenses in the history of the NFL. There's a reason his career ended after we dumped him.

Not drafting Drew Bress - I was a high school JR when this guy came out. I didn't watch a lot of game film and stuff like that. The only thing I knew about him coming out of school was watching purdues bowl game that year. I wanted him pretty bad. We took Jamar Fletcher instead. Horrible.

Culpepper over Bress - I can't fault the logic at the time. One had a blown out knee, the other had a blown out shoulder. I chalk this one up to bad luck plus our coaching staff/GM being inept because our talent level and play calling was horrible. Can't fault the QB choice though. Obviously in hind sight people would say bress but I don't think he'd be as good if he had come here.

Passing on Brady Quinn - Thank god. Ted Ginn and his family were a horrible pick but I def didn't want Quinn. I wanted Patrick Willis and that's def not a hind sight pick. Atleast we got a couple of jets wins from Teddy.

Chad Pennington - It was nice getting a play off berth but this guy just didn't have it left in the tank after he hurt his shoulder again. IMO he'd never be able to beat the top teams in the AFC because of his limitations throwing the ball past 15yrds. Prob a bad pick up since we should have been re-building. It was a great season though although I think it hurt of ability to groom henne.

Pat White - lol. atleast it made playing madden online fun that year. What a waste and I like most of you called that **** right on the spot. The wildcat was horse ****. A Gimmick that doesn't belong in the NFL except for the occasional situational play.

Chad Henne - I think the guy can play in the NFL TBH. He's got the arm obviously he just never had the coaching, talent around him or the play calling to get a fair shake. The typical offensive series in his last full year went somthing like this; Wildcat run for minimal gain, busted screen pass to slow assed devon bess, go get em chad on third and long. Then this last season I saw some promise from O coordinator Dabol in week one. We threw the ball around, chad had a decent game but the Pats did what they do and out scored us due to our pathetic out of shape D and some bad no calls on wake. Some weird play calls like 4th and goal from the 1 fade to hartline etc but I was excited and didn't care I'd have to eat some crow about the dabol signing. Then week 2 it was back to the sparano/wadsofcock offense and brian dabol proved me right, he's a horrible play caller/coach.

Matt Flynn - I think he's going to be decent at worst, top ten at best. He's def better than matt moore but we'll see. If philbin doesn't want him for big bucks then I'm fine passing on him but if the guy comes out and is better than I thought I think it might mean Philbins job if we don't have an answer at QB soon.

Manning - Obviously the best of all time dare I say better than Dan? It would have been cool seeing him play for us but we don't have the talent to matter. I hope denver gets a super bowl out of it so it shuts all the brady ***** riders up.

Tannehill - I think he's better than the haters give him credit for. I'd rather see this kid picked up over another linemen and outside of the top 6 guys and mayeb the MLB from Boston College I want him to be our number 8 pick. We've got some good insight on him so a pass or draft I'll have to support it but if we pass and he ends up being a stud you'd have to think sherman and ireland are on the hot seat.

Weeden - Would be a great pick if you get him at the right spot/price. Might be a little more game ready than tannehill and if we could snag him plus a stud at 8, well then I wouldn't be too upset. He's def got a lot of arm talent and more than recent top picks. I think if he were 22 the browns would jump on him at 4 or someone would trade up with the vikes at 3.

Sadly enough, I have to add the following:

    1. Dan Marino
    2. Bob Griese
    3. Earl Morrell
    4. Don Strock
    5. tie with all the rest.

    * Note the 3 and 4 are backups...

    wow I forgot matt moore....

matt moore - Great back up, not an NFL starter. Won a couple games against scrub teams some of which were won by our D or running game (bills raiders), didnt have one game over 300 yards passing. inconsistent and inaccurate. Not the answer at all.

Garrad - good pick up if we don't draft a qb or draft someone not nfl ready. I expect him to beat out matt moore for the starting spot.

    the poor house
Jim Jensen was drafted in rd 11 pick 291 in 1981 just thought i would add him to the qb list.

    #1 Dan Marino
    #2 Bob Griese
    # 3 tie DON Strock and Earl Morrall
    #4 Jim Jensen
#5 Gus Ferrotte this guy never got a fair chance and if he had we would won more playoff game.

#6 Damon Huard i liked him except he hung onto the ball

#7 Brian Griese wanny never gave him a good chance with better wrs he wins it for us..

#8 Scott Micthell didnt play well at all for other teams but played well for us.

I'd argue that Pennington was the second best since Marino, but ultimately the list is as follows

    1)Marino
    Everyone else

  10. WharfRat

    WharfRat Malignant Lunatic

    Marino
    Greise (Bob)

I would include Steve Deberg as a guy who played pretty well for us given the circumstances (both Marino and Mitchell out).

Culpepper was a huge mistake, he did very good riding the exercise bike, other than that nothing.

I always wanted Brees and I am pretty sure most around here did as well. But, it happened before I ever started posting in any of these forums.

so youd take the quarterback with no arm over the guy with a busted knee? And culpepper to that point had one of the best stat seasons for a quarterback..maybe a year removed? I really doubt you all wanted brees.

Pennington was amazing for us in 2008. Took a 1-15 team to 11-5 team...
