Good info here. We heard late last season that they were really high on this kid. And it turned out to be true. They're betting they can get 10+ years out of a 1-2 year investment. I'll say this, he's got all kinds of raw talent, some of which is starting to seep out. http://www.whosay.com/ChrisMortensen/content/280714?wsref=tw&code=Kwe3aJi
nice read, that is cool that ireland put tannehill in a room with sherman and tannehill told shermann it was a mistake not starting him sooner. pretty cool
Wait, so Tannehill was asked (in front of Ireland and Sherman) if Sherman made a mistake in not starting him earlier? Man that's a ballsy move. Would love to her Ryan's answer.
Marshall, Chambers and Ginn would be a pretty damn good receiving core actually. Especially in college football
None of the picks left would give Miami a chance to become the team we all want. Give Irish credit he took a chance put his job on the line, having Sherman on staff makes me feel good about the pick.
Jeff Fuller had around 23 of those dropped passes. When I watched Ryan on film, I always came away feeling that his receivers clearly failed him with drops.
He has everything they need in a potentially great quarterback, they just have to bring it all out and put it all together.
There's a fine line you have to walk there. You want to come across as confident in your abilities, but not like a tool.
Agree, I really thought they were going to take Luke, which I would have been okay with, but I am THRILLED they took Ryan. Dolphins will be exciting again.
well i guess the florida media is now picking the players for the dolphins . man what a crappy draft pick . the dolphins always goes for the lesser talent . i would take Tanehill in rd 2 but no way is he a top 15 pick . I hope you guys are ready for more bad qb play
I've yet to see bad quarterback play from Ryan Tannehill, and I've watched every throw he's made in 7 games. This guy has the best feel for the pocket of all the quarterbacks in this draft.
do you ever know what you're talking about? because Ireland (hate em or like em) is so influenced by the media
The thing about him that I like is his....well, intangibles... He's a coach's son, he is a gym rat, grew up in film study, has a few 'flaws' but the ones he does have seem to be coachable and probably due to inexperience... I'm excited for us for a change, even tho I fully expect MMoore to be our starter... Bet Devlin's not too happy right now...
Devlin should feel lucky he was holding a clipboard for a year. SOme team will pick him up to do the same.
that would be my ideal first two rounds also. I'm paranoid Massie doesn't fall to us. We'll have a damn good line if he does
I'd love Massie, I also wouldn't be opposed to trading up a few slots for Fleener if he keeps falling.
I would love to see us somehow get Fleener. Don't know what it would take. I think you'd need to get in front of Indy to get him.
Ireland confirmed tonight that Tannehill told them (he and Sherman) that he should have started as a freshman. They love that competitive fire. It's abundantly clear he's expected to sit, but he wants to compete. At a minimum, he's going to be highly involved since he's going to have the strongest grasp of that offense the moment he steps off the plane. And if you saw his episode on Camp Gruden, he's the only guy Gruden's ever seen who was actually demonstrating for the WR's how to properly run their routes. We'll have to be patient. And what's ironic is that a lot of the fanbase appears to be ready to do just that.
All many of us every actually needed was a commitment to the QB position. For the first time since Marino a Dolphins FO had the sack to gamble in the first on a QB. Do that with a QB developing mind on the team and I'll be patient forever.
That reminds me of that story about Manning teling Polian that "I'll kick your *** for the next 15 years if you dont pick me"
I don't believe that's necessarily accurate. Most people agree he's a HIGHLY talented guy. He's just raw. Just needs to bake at 425 for a season or so. That's the way it used to be done and it isn't extinct if we look around the league. If you grade a QB as a second rounder, that makes him a first rounders in today's NFL. Just the way it goes now. Time will tell, but that's where we are now. They knew full well what they were getting. The Packers have been doing it this way for 2 decades. Behind Favre was Brunell, Hasselbeck, Brooks, Rodgers, Flynn and so on. Not always guys drafted highly (because they had Favre). But they drafted guys and developed them.
He walked into Robert Kraft's office after being drafted, introduced himself and told Kraft it was the best decision he (Kraft) ever made.
