Here is what we are looking at going into tonights 2nd and 3rd rounds of the draft: Round 2, Pick 10 (42) Round 3, Pick 9 (72) Round 3, Pick 10 (73) (From Panthers through Bears) Here is what we need: WR DE S CB LB TE OG OT Who should we take if they are on the board at 42? First and foremost: If Cordy Glenn is still on the board at 42 he is the must have pick regardless of anyone else that is on the board at that time. If Glenn is gone, then the pick must turn to our biggest needs: WR, DE and S. I don't expect Stephen Hill to be there at 42, but if he is there and Glenn is off the board....you have to take Hill. If not, then look to Alshon Jeffery. Jeffery is a big physical receiver....he reminds me a lot of Andre Johnson. He isn't going to wow you with speed, but he really makes up for it with his size and being able to get the ball. I have seen him play in person 3 times and he is a beast. The other option at 42 is Andre Branch from Clemson. He can fill that need at DE and take some of the pressure off of Wake in the pass rush department. Looking ahead to the 3rd round: We should have our eyes on Brandon Boykin, Nick Toon, Tommy Streeter (but he might make it to the 4th round), Orson Charles, George Iioka, James Brown and Zebrie Sanders.
I agree, but I think Fleener will be gone before 10 (and don't think we should trade up to try and grab him). I think the Colts will take him (makes perfect sense with Luck) and if they don't take him Denver will 2 picks later. I wish we were picking 7th or 8th in the 2nd round rather than 10, but it is the card we are dealt. Seems we are just on the outside looking in of the top first round talent that will still be there when Day 2 starts. Have to just hope that Glenn, Hill, or Jeffry slip down to us (probably won't happen). Charles in the 3rd round is very possible. I can tell you this much after watching his whole career at UGA. He made Aaron Murray look a lot better than he actually was.
INdy has many many needs and I doubt TE is really high on that list. Moreover Den needs a RB more and already signed two TEs in FA. Agree we should not trade up for Fleener but also think if he falls to us we should not pass!
In this situation he drops ....but we pass??? http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...-mock-draft-complete-second-round-predictions
I'm really opposed to any trading up at this point. Especially if it cost us more then a 6th or 7th round pick to do it.
That seems like a bit much. Fleener is basically a wide receiver so I'd rather only take one after him and go after another position.
Some picks are just way to high in that mock. I like Toon, but see him as a 3rd round pick. But...he is a Jets legacy so they might reach for him.
I can't project past #42 (simply because I don't know that many collegiate players and how they're rated), but if by any chance Fleener is still there at #42, I hope like hell we take him. Otherwise, BPA at a position of need.
Alshon Jeffery scares me a little bit. This was a guy who was supposed to be a first round pick coming into this year and then kind of disappeared and suddenly all the hype was gone.
Kendall wright went top 20'like I thought, Kuechly going top 10 was on point, had Donta going in the first, but man, did I not expect Flleener out of the first.. Indy should draft Fleener, leaving us with a decision of Allen or best receiver on board, Sanu vrs Allen...or Courtney if he's available.
Indy passing on Fleener would be amazing, especially considering they lost their 2 TE's this off season. Not to mention if gives Luck a comfort zone in a player he knows and trusts.
IMO we should either trade with the rams for their second round pick before the colts, take Fleener and give them a 5th or 6th either that or we take Upshaw if he is available
With #8 settled .... 42: Stephen Hill (WR); Coby Fleener (TE); Janoris Jenkins, Josh Robinson (CB); Cam Johnson (DE); Bobbie Massie, Mike Adams (T); Jerel Worthy (DT) *** i think they like Cam Johnson 72/73: Brandin Hardin, Justin Bethel (CB); Tavarius Cadet, Isaiah Pead (TB); Zebrie Sanders, Tom Compton (T); Tommy Streeter, Marvin McNutt (WR); Orson Charles (TE) *** i think they like Tavarius Cadet and Marvin McNutt
I think I would go Jenkins or Jeffery not sure why so many people in love with Stephen Hill guy ran 1 route in college
I think the best TE on the board should go before any of the WRs left but I honestly have no information on the WRs still up for grabs. Typically I'd say the right side of our o line is the biggest need but we have nothing at WR. Our best WRs right now are reggie bush and tannehill.
You'll love this scenario. Either trade down or pick Konz at C. We than move Pouncy to G and voila our o-line is fixed!!
I'd like to see a combination of WR, DE, and OT today. 2. Courtney Upshaw/Bobby Massie (or Jonathan Martin/Cordy Glenn)/Stephen Hill 3. Ryan Broyles/Jared Crick 3. Jeff Allen/Jared Crick
I feel like they went with the big spash with Tannehill yesterday so now we will get back to the trenches. OL or DE in the 2nd. WR towards the end of the 3rd as this draft is deep in recievers. JMO.
Figured we'd go OL here. Good value for the need. Looking for pass rusher and a wideout with our 3rds. This has the looks to be a very nice draft for us.
