I don't mean to take anything away from Felix. He is certainly in the argument. I put him in the top five for sure. It really is sort of a toss up amongst the top four or five pitchers in the league.
In reality, he's facing the Mike Aviles' or the Brandon Inges of the world instead of pitchers. If the AL suddenly didn't have a DH, or those players were in the NL, do you really believe those guys wouldn't be in the lineup? I'm not saying the AL isn't superior offensively to the NL, because it certainly is. I'm just saying that you're exaggerating the difference. Also, it's more like 68 automatic outs per year. Pitchers had a .200 OBP last year.
Halladay proved himself in a much tougher conference then Felix, in the AL, in a much more hitter friendly home ball park. He is the truth. Doc and Verlander are the only two pitchers I would take over Felix. But Felix is definitely very close and directly behind them.
Yea I was going to say Halladay already proves himself pitching in the AL East. In my mind he's with out a doubt the top pitcher on baseball.
Roy is amazing to watch pitch. It's always a beautiful thing when he and a healthy Josh Johnson go head to head. Great games.
#3 made me chuckle of course...
Just curious, does every team have email tuesday where the announcers read email and answer questions or is that a Marlins thing?
I agree with this. Im a Mariner's fan and Felix is a stud but there is nothing at all wron with being a notch below those two guys. I do hope Felix gets a chance to shine in the playoffs at some point.
Honestly I don't think any of those guys are "better" than one another. They are all on the level where they can shut a team out every single outing.
That might be accurate if NL pitchers all batted .000. This is the typical nonsense AL fans spew about the NL not having a DH. All the NL does is continue to win World Series.
Also aside from OBP you have to factor in that a lot of pitcher outs are productive. Moving a runner to second or third giving them a better chance of scoring.
nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo the marlins are a special magical team that listens to fans and that help people live longer and cancer free.....................stoopid.
Angels shaking things up. Hopefully Walden doesn't go in the tank even more. But welcome to the bigs Mike Trout! Can't wait to see this guy play everyday
How bout that Mariners lineup?? Ichiro leading the way with a .280 average next closest? .260. Yep that will win you some ball games.
Rays vs. Mariners drew 9,112 people tonight. Lowest crowd since 9/4/07. That's not good for business. They need to move ASAP.
Kemp is on fire.....almost on fire too much to be taken seriously at this point...I attribute is success to Mattingly Harper on the other hand is 19......Washington in a few years are going to be dangerous...
Why do the Rays draw so poorly? I mean you can sit freaking 5 rows from the field for like 60 bucks, they have an exciting ballclub to watch with a manager who you never know what they are going to do.... Not to mention they are good, and have had recent success with the chance at more this year.... shouldn't more people be going? I mean I know the Trop is a dump but come on....
This might be a better question to ask Nappy but here's my take: The Trop is awful to watch a game. Poor location. Hard to get too. Etc. And yes you'd think more people should be going, as their TV and radio ratings have increased and continue to be strong but people just aren't going. They're just in a terrible location and in the worst park in baseball. Nothing got approved yet.
Was an issue for the Marlins too. Our stadium sucked....and no-one went to games. Our radio and TV ratings were up there with the best but due to a bad baseball park, heat, rain, etc stadium was always empty. New stadium looks full even in our slump. No doubt it will be the same for the Rays. Different scenario but the idea is the same.
Nobody gores to the football games either.... Thing is with the Marlins THIS year, you guys will draw well because everybody wants to see the new stadium, it will be interesting to see what the trend is in 3-4 years when the curiosity has ended...
Believe it or not South Florida is very baseball oriented. I agree it will be interesting to see if they keep coming but I've ALWAYS seen a lot of Marlins gear sported around here even when we sucked. Shirts and stuff. We have fans and a nice stadium....we just need to win.
Of course winning brings out the crowds....they got a nice team, starting to round out...soon the Phillies will be a non-factor...it will be Wash/Mia is a few years and I know that sounds crazy but...look that the young players on both teams and add a few years to it... Do the Marlins have a TV deal?
