I'm sure injuries had something to do with it but he wasn't even close to being the best LT in the league last year, IMO.

Hopefully he bounces back in 2012 and this becomes a moot point b/c another injury riddled season and I'd be leery of giving him another mega deal too.

I'd like to see if philbin actually uses bush the right way, more as WR than a RB, but fasano can leave tomorrow for all I care. can't run, can't block and can barley catch. the guy had two above average games last year and everyone forgets how poor he's been since being here.

Everybody sucks, the sun will explode but not until we've all been dead for a very long time. Good point about Fasano.

Miami Dolphins left tackle Jake Long back at work; likes the new offense

Miami Dolphins Blog | South Florida Sun-Sentinel — Jake Long emerged behind a line of Miami Dolphins teammates as they walked off the practice field Tuesday following the second practice of a voluntary veteran minicamp. The Dolphins’ star left tackle had just put in a solid day of work returning to team drills

Jake Long is healthy. End of. "Healthiest ive been for a long time" quote. Sort of says what we need to know.
Im sure Philbin would like to trade Long...not! Woeful reporting. Draft weekend and that reporter comes out with that gem. The guy is clueless.

We are implementing an O-Line that is lighter and more athletic and can get to the 2nd level. That creates lanes in the defensive 2nd front. Its a Bush, Miller dream scenario. Add Thomas whos a downhill runner and its a great set up IF the O-Line can be mobile. No way should Bush be used as a WR more. 5yds a punch is proving he can be a weapon. Fasano can catch. Hes pulled off enough highlight catches to convince me. Hes a decent blocker and decent catcher. Not stellar but he gets the job done.

I was thinking the same damn thing this morning, he is starting to grow on me after a very solid draft and almost laughing away the thought that Long is on his way out.

fasano is average to below average at best and doesnt do anything exceptionally well. Can't say I'm a huge fan of the dallas cast off and would love an upgrade at the position but don't place it about the need for a better option at WR that can line up wide and keep the 8th guy out of the box. typically has been in the 30-40 catch range per season and would not be missed if he left tomorrow.

BTW, how many TE's are on our roster right now if you count clay who will fill a role like that. you guys really think fasano should stick around? I dont get why he's such a fan favorite.

I don't think anyone is really defending him but more puzzled on your assessment of him as a player, he's not a pro bowler but he is not a scrub as you seem to describe him. He is very much a NFL caliber TE, despite what you think of him.

so basically on a good day he catches 5 balls? He's toward the bottom half of the league in skill set, production etc. He's not a great run blocker, he isn't fast, his route running is suspect even for a TE and he's def not the most sure handed guy out there. he had one nasty catch last year, maybe against New England but even a broken clock is right twice a day.

Fasano was a very good TE by "yesterdays" standards....todays TE needs to be a better pass catcher.

He's still a very good blocker and should be very useful, especially in the red zone.

I wanted a guy like Egnew as much as anyone, but that doesn't mean you throw Fasano away.

Between those two and Clay our TE group looks very promising.
