Interesting pick up, Jeff Fuller @ Texas A&M he was Tannehill's main target @ 6'4" & 223 apparent average speed but very good size & hands. During the 2010 season, he broke the Aggies' all-time record for touchdown catches. good football blood line, his father had two SuperBowl rings (San Francisco)
might prove to be a surprise, an acorn so to speak, especially with Tannehill under center... another smart move by our much maligned GM. I really liked this draft.

The main reason that Tannehill was said to have a much lower completion rate than he deserved last season was because of the over 70 dropped passes by his receivers. Fuller was one of these receivers and since he was not drafted by any team in the NFL, I don't see him being anything but preseason fodder who will be gone before the regular season begins.

I guess he could always be a free agent surprise like Devon Bess was a few years ago, but I doubt it.

should be hearing more about him soon, the rookies minicamp begins today. you never know until you get a look at him on the field. by the way, doesn't appear he dropped too many of those infamous passes in the end zone, he broke an all-time school record for touch down catches. maybe he'll develop into a red-zone threat or maybe he'll wind up cannon fodder. will be interesting to watch his development. he looks like a possible acorn to me. interesting.

He has VERY inconsistent hands. I believe he dropped 20+ receptions this season. Definitely an interesting kid to take a flyer on due to the size... however I'm glad we didnt invest anything in him other than basically a try out...

Fuller was pretty good as a junior. IIRC he was a potential second day pick at that point. But as a senior he regressed. He had a ton of drops and didn't make as many big plays he did the year before. I don't know what the difference was, but hopefully he figures it out and we get the junior version back.

Fuller may end up being a fine UDFA signing, make the team and eventually be a starter, but he was not Tanny's main target at TAMU. That happened to be a guy named Ryan Swope, whom I hope like hell we can draft next year. Watch any footage of Tanny's games. You see that #25 running around out there with the glue like hands and great RAC ability? That's Swope. I love that dude.

So in other words we just signed Brandon Marshall back....great size, average speed, drop city. I feel even better about the trade now.

Good ole Oronde Gadsden he , Oj , and Chambers were enjoyble to watch unlike todays dolphin wrs .

i hope someday maimi drafts a bigtime receiver instead of the late rounders that dont scare defenses. Gadsden was a rare find that made one handed catches on a regular bassis. i miss Godzilla

Marshall was drafted in the 4th round. Had anyone known he would become a top ten WR, he would not have lasted that long. Fuller had an injury plagued senior season. A lot of analysts believe had he come out as a junior, he'd have been a 3rd or 4th round pick.
No cheerleading kid. Just give the dude a chance before dissing him.

He also led the Aggies in dropped passes (most pundits have him at 35), and he really doesn't have very good speed and has trouble getting off coverage (in college)...the reasons he dropped to UDFA status...
Another project guy or guy that may need some time to develop.

Maybe that was it. I wouldn't have drafted him, but as an UDFA he's fine. There's potential there so I don't see him as a waste of time.

Is Hartline the only split end on the roster? I'm curious.

No. Coach Joe has said several times, he does not have WRs are specifically an X, or a Z or whatever. All WRs will be lining up at any of the possible positions.

If we didnt select Wylie this year, surely we won't go after Swope, unless, Tannehill is successful this year and demands the kid to be on our team.

we dont need swope. bess and gates are the same WR. he looks to be a gamer. I'd spend a 5th on him maybe a 4th

Just because we didn't draft Wylie, what does that have to do with whether or not we'd draft Swope?

How can Bess and Gate both be the same as Swope, when they are not even similar to each other?

That's a good question, Because IMO, Wylie is the better player, while both having similar type skillsets, and if you had the chance to get Wylie, and you didn't, than why go with Swope, just my perspective on it C, don't get me wrong, I like Swope, but I don't think he's as good as Wylie..

Maybe I'll get over my Wylie crush by next year big C, I don't know man, I just don't understand how we could work him out, and not draft the lil fu$& er..

I dunno, this one against the Jets was the game we ended the Jets 8 game streak against us. One of the few games I was at. Ricky ran all over them that day. All those cocky Jets fans were distraught and we were all celebrating. Biggest party I've ever seen.

They are nothing alike other than their skin and hair. Gates could give Bess 10 yard head start and still beat him in a 40 yard dash. (hyperbole)

I don't agree with your logic here. There are various possible reasons not related to the valuation of the player. The easiest one is having other players or needs higher on the board at the time (many had Miller rated as a 1st rounder). Or they may have thought he'd last another round. There's more possibilities, obviously, but the point is that passing on Wylie does not mean they automatically pass on Swope.

  38. MrClean

    MrClean Inglourious Basterd Club Member

I don't see that. Swope is 6' and 200 and runs about a 4.5 forty. Wylie is 5'9 and 187 and runs slightly under 4.4.

Swope is 6 feet huh, damn, he looks smaller, I just meant they both have some wiggle, and play the game with that 100 percent balls to the wall abandon..But, I still stand by my statement, if we take Swope next year I will be so confused.

  40. MrClean

    MrClean Inglourious Basterd Club Member

It all depends on how they stack their board and how it falls. Same as this year. We don't know what round they had Wylie ranked in, maybe the same one where he went, but they just liked the player they took ahead of him a little better. Next year the board may fall just right so Swope is available at the point where Ireland sees him as good value.
They could have stood pat in the 4th and taken Wylie at that point, but chose to try and trade up, and were successful and took Miller. Can you blame them? No one would have likely ranked Wylie over Miller, but apparently few if any teams had Wylie as higher than a 4th rounder since that's where he went/
