two runs later, its now 5-9; at least Heath Bell won't get a blown save, since he was pitching from behind

 

Bell, although a nice guy, is a huge waste of ****ing space.

 

He gave up those runs because it wasn't a save situation right?

 

Bell is pure garbage right now. Such a shame.

Ok Mainge and Ray Finkle, I am officially on your side regarding relief pitchers. I was wrong.

I still believe Bell can turn it around, though.

 

Fink and I aren't crazy people. History is on our side. The numbers are on our side.

Tonight was a microcosm of that. Big money Bell making 9 million this year blew hard. Minimum wage never organizational top ten prospect saved the day. Relievers grow on trees and a "closer" might be the most overrated role in sports.

I think Beinfest and company might go back to that strategy regarding relief pitchers when Bell's contract is over. He could return to his dominant ways but I think his struggles now could scare them enough to never give a relief pitcher a big contract.
