finally some math from you that makes sense! 9-7 is a bit of a stretch though.

I agree with everything in principle but welker is def more talented than bess. They're the same type of WR but welker does just about everything better than bess. The only thing I'd say is even close is their hands.

To the point that the pats win because they don't have players like marshell, it can be argued they lost that super bowl last year because they didn't have an X wr on the outside.

I'd take blackmon over marshell just because of age but not floyd. I dont think floyd will be anywhere near blackmon in his career as far as production based on blackmons superior skill set. The same argument can be made for Dez and aj green. Marshell is better than them right now but only because they havent had a chance to hone their skills. The potential is greater in the younger player. Saying mike wallance, who isnt even the best WR on his team, is better than marshall? That's just crazy talk.

    Right on point.
There are many variables to any players performance.
Different levels of performance and results can also be a direct result of schemes run and the surrounding cast on said team. Smaller numerical results on one team can actually be more impressive than a higher total on another squad. There is a lot to consider.

Voice of reason in what has been the most bizarre discussion I've ever had with a couple of people that have supposedly taken the time to be well versed on the game of football.

It is because I understand that football is a team game and Welker is a player who has proven to enchance a team, while Marshall has yet proven on the field that his presense enhances the team.

Football isn't all about the end stats, it is about how people fit in systems and increase the chances of scoring. Welker has shown to do that in New England, and Marshall has not.

What's with the "anyone who thinks ____ doesn't know football" stuff?

    Ignorant statements.

Why did the patriots remove an elite talent like Moss who was playing at a high level, and where did they go when he was gone.

When you're talking about something as LEGITIMATE as Wes Welker versus Brandon Marshall, I'd stay away from the "anyone who doesn't agree with me doesn't know football" stuff. It's ridiculous. There are Hall of Fame Head Coaches and General Managers that would stake out both sides on that question.

Everyone's got a different flavor when it comes to a question like that.

The schedule looks easier than its been in a long time maybe that will help get a few more wins if we do good.

    It's a 6-10 team with a 9-7 schedule so I'll say 8-8 or 7-9.

Rex will be managing the game so I don't think Sparanos poor calls will be as bad as they were here. Such as being behind 7 points with 40 seconds before half time on second down just inside the fifty and takeing a knee.

I'm thinking we are an 8-8 team or something close to that.

What I didn't like with Marshall was that he was always dancing at the line. As big and strong as he was he should have been ripping right through thoes DB's right off the line not dancing with them.

    Agree with you on that.
While I don't consider Welker as having the talent to be a #1 outside of NE I can definitely understand the debate on the issue.

However, I'd bet the house that you would find no GM's or Hall of Fame coaches that would ever come close to considering either of those two WR's as "easily replaced" at all let alone "easily replaced" by unproven rookie draft picks.

Depends. I see this team in Rebuilding Mode. So, if "things happens" and/or Dolphins starts Tannehill. Then, I don't mind the Phins having a losing season. Just want progression.

We would have had to trade up a minimum of 3 spots, not 1. We'd also have to beat the Jags compensation, and that's assuming the Bucs would even want to move down to 8.

Marshal wasn't a difference maker with the Dolphins, with him the Fins never went far and as good as he was (as you say) nobody wanted him he almost got cut and we'll see what he does with the Bears, he hasn't played yet.

Yet you're the most optimistic guy in this forum when comes to Dolphins winning.

I'm just a fan of the team. Not much of a football guy. Sure, I like to see a Cindarella run to the Super Bowl but a losing season equals better position in the draft. Just saying...

Well, to me, if you keep giving longshots, a shot, then we are going to hit on some of them..at least that is my hope.

That is what makes the NFL so interesting to me, some of these longshots could do some things for us.

And let me add, I suspect Sparano was in a bunker mentality situation the last two years meaning the longshot guys they used to give chances to no longer had those chances.

Could be Wallace or Pruitt or Moore have a breakout yr for us this yr, but under Sparano they only played if they had to be plugged into a hole.

7 or 8 wins, but I obviously hope they do better than that. On the bright side I think we've added a lot of talent and are on the right track to be competitive consistently in the near future.
