  4. I'm trying not to get too excited about the guy but all signs point to him being a very good QB.

I feel the same way. I like hearing good things about him, but ultimately...it was from someone who is not objective. He is not only selling his student, but his school as well, (by that, I mean that if his student Tannehill is drafted high...he can sell that from his training/school/etc. "look what I accomplished with Tannehill, and he used to be a WR.") I am being cautiously optimistic that we have finally found the QB of the future.

I'm glad they took him but I'll wait until the pads are on and it is real game time before I jump up & down.

I think minimally, we have an improvement over the scrub of QBs we've started since Marino. hopefully he makes that leap to franchise QB, but it might be awhile before we see it.
Beefing up our Oline will only help out our QBs this season. hopefully Tannehill is our starter next season when Ireland can add some more stud WRs to the roster, giving Tannehill all the tools that he needs to succeed.

He never used to be a WR. That implies he wasn't supposed to be a QB.

The story is that he was going to compete for the QB job when he walked in to A&M but Sherman asked him to play WR because their depth was horrible at the position. However they still had him at every QB meeting, film study, he still did drills, so on. He was always going to be a QB.

I am hopeful he can be great. I love his ability on the out routes, anticipation, comebacks, etc., the hallmark WCO router Miami I'm told will run. What he needs to improve is his deep ball accuracy. Honestly, Matt Moore could make all those mentioned throws, it's the deep ball accuracy that'll separate the two QB's. Moore hasn't shown any evidence he can hit that deep ball with consistency. If Tannehill hits all those routes, and someone develops into a deep target, then MIA is set at the QB position finally.

I will remain cautiously optimistic until he evolves into the QB we want to lead the Fins.He might be that guy but I have to see it first.Pardon my uncertainty but we have seen to many QBs that were supposed to be that guy and after so many failures it's hard for me to feel confident with him or just about anyone until they win on a regular basis.
New coaches and a rookie QB rarely get out of the gate quick so it may be a while till we find out.

Have we? The only one I've seen that I ever thought had a chance to be a franchise QB was Henne. I never thought any of the other QBs we brought in after Marino were anything but stop-gaps.

Maybe Shermans intent of him playing reicever was part of his training to be a better QB.

I'll admit I thought we could win games with henne. Honestly he never got a fair shake here. Poor coaching, low talent levels around him and especially horrible playcalling. The second year of wildcat garbage was the worst. Wildcat for 2 yards on first down, some busted screen on 2nd down, third and long....well hey go get em chad!

I always thought henne could be somewhere in the middle of the pack in the nfl. With tannehill my expectations are much higher mainly because I have more faith in the type of offense we will run with philbin and sherman but also partly because I like what I see from his skill set on top of his pro style offense he ran in college.

Iam still in a draft funk, none of my guys were selected, I wanted Weeden or Wilson, I like Tannehills skillset, but as of right now, I have Weeden being the better Qb, So Iam a bit discouraged, I can't get excited because Tannehill has flaws that I need to see him correct before I do.

I'll go on the record and say that I believe Henne will eventually take over for Gabbert..Henne's got guts, Gabbert has shown a feminin side.

I have to agree. While I hope that Tannehill is the answer at the QB position, I have to see it on the field in the regular season before I am going to buy into the hype. I think he is extremely intelligent and he certainly has the type arm to make it in the NFL, but there have been many QB's drafted who have had strong arms and intelligence and yet they didn't pan out at the NFL level.

It also concerns me that many people seem to think that Philbin is some type of QB guru. The fact is that he was an offensive line coach before he became the Packers offensive coordinator and even in this role, he did not call the plays on game days and the Packers had a QB coach who was responsible for preparing the QB's on the team. My feeling is that Philbin will be more comfortable dealing with the offensive line, while Sherman and Zac Taylor will be the coaches most responsible for getting Tannehill prepared for the NFL.

I don't think we will know how Tannehill is going to work out as the QB on the Dolphins for at least another three years.

I like Weeden, but his age scares me. Yeah, he might be ready to step in sooner, but I can personally attest that the older you get, the longer it takes to get past injuries and that scares me in a rookie. It's gonna takes us a couple years to get competitive and by then he'll be almost 31.

Its not that we think Coach Joe is a QB guru, its that he knows how to get the most from his QBs by playing to his strengths. Philbin is like an engineer, whereas Sparano was like a janitor.

the jags are one of the teams worse off than we are on offense. Last year all the had was MJD, a true RB beast when RB beasts have been a dying breed. Now that they picked up blackmon you might see something from their O but I'm not gonna judge gabbert from last years trash. At the same time if henne goes in i wont say he'll do well because the jags pretty much still suck.

if henne had gone to say the jets, redskins or even seatle I'd be more confident in him having some success. I won't be surprised if he ends up in the middle of the pack for NFL qbs, maybe even approach the upper tier.

I'm (not Iam) going to have to disgree with the weeden love and the weeden hate. I don't think his age is as much of a problem but Tannehill was def the better pick unless we were going to move back into the first round and grab weeden while still taking a top tier talent at 8. In the end I feel tanny has a better and longer NFL career than weeden.
