We'll agree to disagree then, because it wasn't. QB was crucial to the teams success, and wouldn't you know it, when Moore played well, the RT position didn't really matter much, did it?

C'mon dude. We drafted a QB #8. Name me one team in the history of ever that's done that and not been in re-building mode.

And no, we'd have scored more points if Moore was just a flat-out better QB.

against good teams it did. Also factor in we had to keep people in to block and limit our playcalling based off the horrible line play.

    Football is a team sport.

When Moore had to play against teams with better pass rushes and got pressure on the right side, it did matter. I bet that if Moore didn't get pressure on the 3rd and 7 from the Right side that there would have been a better chance to complete the pass for the first down that could have won the game.

QB does not equal an entire team.

    You're reaching here.

But I'll bow out of this thread. It's clear you all believe Ireland made a good pick choosing a RT (who was better in run block than pass pro in college btw) over a playmaking WR.

and to the point about the colts, look how bad they became? Peyton Manning is a once in a generation talent that carried all their poor choices. The colts always draft offense and they always looked better for it because of manning.

Did you also even think to check the colts draft history before talking nonsense? 2011 picks 1 2 and 3 were OT OT and DT.

The year before was all defense, DE, OLB and DB. fourth round was a guard.

here go look for yourself http://www.nfl.com/draft/history/fulldraft?teamId=2200&type=team

They haven't drafted a skill player high since donald brown, a bust and gonzo a bust if not for catching balls from manning. The year prior they also had different needs and almot always had a late first rounder.

Unless you're looking at a first round stud like a calvin johnson, andre johnson, peterson etc the stud tackle is the more team impacting pick.

Well, I'm not saying I hate the pick, I just would've preferred a WR there. I thought there were some solid OL who came off the board in the middle rounds. Zebrie Sanders was a guy who went in the 5th Round, so there were other VALUE options out there IMO.

I like people who only think a football team consists of QB, WR and RB. Cracks me up every time!

Marshall was GARBAGE last year, he caught some balls sure, but they were MEANINGLESS. Almost every time he could make a catch to either extend a drive or get a TD, he FAILED. Did you even watch the games?

All I'm saying is that you can't really judge the pick until we see these guys play. I think everyone would prefer a great WR over a great RT. But the question is, who will become a good player.

You're right. You know what else was GARBAGE and MEANINGLESS? Reggie Bush's 1000 yards. Also meaningless? Matt Moore's completion %. Same with everything else any Dolphins player did. It was all meaningless. In fact, the entire league and all the games played last year were meaningless. Every one.

I'm just tired of cutting Ireland slack. I can't do it anymore. If this were his first draft, I'd completely agree with you. He continues to undervalue the skill positions in the draft. I think it's telling that in his 5 drafts, the Dolphins have not drafted a WR higher than the 3rd round, and that guy is no longer on the team. I'm still kinda amazed he drafted Tannehill at #8.

No, he continues to undervalue the positions you overrate

See how that works with opinions and all?

Cutting him slack and viewing the situation objectively are two different things.

He did trade two 2nd round picks for one WR.

He drafted a RB in the 2nd round.

He drafted a quarterback in the 1st and a receiving tight end in the 3rd.

Ross wanted him to trade for Marshall. Daniel Thomas wasn't worth that pick, much less trading up for. Yes, finally he drafted a QB in the 1st. Thank God.

How so? Did Ross not instruct Ireland to get a premier WR? As for Daniel Thomas, I simply don't think he's a good back. He was horrible around the goal line in college, and it continued in his first year here. He doesn't do any one thing well IMO.

Because Daniel Thomas argument is a switchi n arugment. Runningback is a skill player. He drafted one in the 2nd round. He traded up for one in the 2nd round.

Just because Ross wanted a premier WR doesn't mean that Ireland didn't. Ireland still makes the final football decisions. Which has been mentioned over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.

There's a difference between not agreeing with the evaluation and saying he undervalues skill positions. He has spent significant resources on skill positions so I agree that it is a reach to claim he undervalues skill positions. If you want to say you don't like his choices, that's a different matter.

Like I said, one WR drafted before the 4th Round in 5 years. And no, I don't like his choices. I feel like he opts for value over substance and it's one of the reasons this team has been mediocre.

Again the problem isn't skill positions, its WR's entirely, right?
