Rambling thought: Maybe its because of Fantasy BB and tracking your players, etc....but I am growing to DISLIKE (hate is such a dirty word) strike zone umps (#robotstotherescue); but a close second of my dislike is Official Scorers - my goodness they are so inconsistent and its getting worse and worse the more I watch the action around MLB (not just local coverage, etc.) #whatirksyou?
Technically, they dont have to, not required to per the rules......but in general you just want them to defer on all checked swings? I get where you are coming from, but the argument is if the Home Plate Ump is the primary person to call a swing a swing, they dont need to check with anyone if they feel a checked swing wasnt checked, etc. Its weird for sure when they are willing to seek a 2nd opinion and when they refuse, but strike zone is far more of an issue per the rules then a checked swing (which really isnt in the rules, etc). But I feel ya.
HBT has it....sad! funny line....always makes me think of the line from Friends and Monica's weight...(@25sec mark)
They're actually not if I remember correctly. I posted something a year or two ago on the number of no hitters by the year since 1990 or so. It seems like each year we get 3 to 4 of them. I remember arguing that I didn't think the number of no hitters had to do with PED testing since the numbers do nothing to prove that and no hitters are basically plain old luck but I do think the decrease in offense has to do with PED testing and that's aiding the no hitters a bit even if the numbers don't say so. I really wish I could find that post.
they are, though. There were 15 no hitters in the 2000s. There's already been 11 in this decade and we're only 2+ years in.
I must have "misremembered" then or the no hitter discussion I'm thinking/talking about happened in 2009 or beginning of 2010.
So Harper got pinged in the first on a fastball by Hamels, who admitted it was intentional....what does Harper do? Ends up on 3rd after somebody hit a single, and then promptly steals home on Hamels...... then Rizzo blasts Hamels, basically calling him a fake *** hahahahah
I like pitchers throwing at hitters, unless it is Roger Clemens where the P.O.S throws a fastball at your head.
Josh Hamilton became the 16th Major Leaguer to hit 4 home runs in a game, Last player to do it was Carlos Beltran in 2003, who hit 2 home runs tonight. One of the rare accomplishments in sports!
In a vacuum he'd look good in any uniform but putting him in New York City probably wouldn't be the best place for him.
As a fellow Yankees fan I never understood this mindset...its like the Dolphins posts about so and so and only if Dolphins had him, etc.....Sports doesnt work that way in any facet but its how FANS think. I dont think he would look good in pinstripes based on performance only.....no guarantees on performance, so many other factors (aka Giambi) really need to come into play....I would sign (a) Tino Martinez everyday of the week over (a) Jason Giambi. Yanks have been burned to many times under the mindset of CHASE the stat...no thanks. I love watching Hamilton when healthy, but from afar on some other franchise is just fine for me.....not worth it in the long run.
