I like to just sit back and watch people get worked up over players picked even though they haven't played a down in the NFL...but this front office has picked 2 of the 3 guys I entered the draft hoping we would stay away from.

I said before this draft, please do not take Tannehill, Upshaw, or Martin in the first 2 rounds. They went ahead and took 2 of those players.

Martin may not even be an upgrade over Colombo. Put him up against any speed rushers, and it's gonna be a long day for whoever our QB is (Moore, Garrard, or Tannehill)...lol that is such a sad group of QBs.

end rant. I'm sorry guys. I don't usually complain, but these look like some terrible picks so far. :(

  2. Give it time, nobody knows how any player will turn out.

That's usually my motto. Can't remember the last time I got worked up over a pick (prob Ted Ginn was the last time...I don't even think I got that mad at the Pat White pick)...but I literally had 3 guys I didn't want entering this draft and we picked 2 of them with our first 2 picks lol. Hopefully they do pan out since they are 2 needs, but damnit..

Have you actually watched/analyzed any film on Tannehill? I'm not saying you haven't. Just saying that I hated Tannehill based on what others had said, but then I really watched him the days leading into the draft and was VERY happy we selected him.

As for Martin I don't see how you can be mad about having a +++ pass blocker at RT for a young QB even if he is just an average run blocker.

yes. and I'll admit I was wrong if they do pan out, but like I said. I didn't want 3 guys entering this draft and we took 2 of them with our first 2 picks. Can't be too happy about that. Would've loved Floyd at 8 and Curry at 42. Or someone else at 8 and Jeffery/Hill at 42.

Yeah. I've watched plenty of film on both players. The one thing that I liked about Tannehill was the Gruden Camp. He impressed me there, but that was a 4 min video with Jon Gruden. Nothing that really proved he has what it takes to be a SB QB.

And idk what you're talking about pass blocking wise with Martin. That's what I hate about him the most. Anytime he faced any DE with any kind of speed and quickness in college, he was abused. Magnify that x10 in the NFL

just my opinions, though. we shall see. So far, I am disappointed with this draft, considering we are left with probably Chris Givens, Ryan Broyles, and Marvin Jones as the best WRs avail with our 3rd round picks. I imagined picking up one of those guys to be our #2 receiver behind Jeffery, Floyd, Hill, or Randle. Not to be our #1.

  8. I really didn't want tannehill either until I watched the gruden video with him.

I wanted a receiver with the 2nd round pick but I think we need a RT just as bad so I'm not mad. Although 2 WR got picked right after Martin.

As much as I would have preferred a WR or DE/OLB in this round, Martin is Philbin's type of OL and a solid but not spectacular pick...Wouldn't it be nice to NOT have to worry about the OL. Seems our OL has been bad as long as our QBs have...is this a change of venue ??

It seems like we say that every year, though. Long in the 1st in 08. Murphy in the 4th in 08. Thomas in the 6th in 08. Gardner in the 6th in 09. Jerry in the 3rd in 10. Pouncey in the 1st last year. Martin in the 2nd this year.

Yet, every year we are still left with holes on our OL

That doesn't really seem excessive. We had a 3 year span where we used two 6ths, a 3rd and a 4th that didn't work out. Not ideal but not outrageous. 6th round picks have very low success rates.

Were running a different scheme. Martin fits that. I feel like Miami will trade up for a WR.

I'm basically saying that we spend 0 money on o-line in free agency. I'd rather us use our picks in the draft on playmakers since it seems like there are endless amounts of them every year and then spend our money on FA offensive linemen. By the time we actually put together a solid foundation on our OL and say that we don't have to worry about that position, Jake Long is going to be retired.

hopefully Martin plays up to his top 10-15 potential that he was predicted at a few months ago, but I don't see it.

Tannehill and Martin were 1st round prospects on every board I've seen. And yet the complaints keep coming. Too much.

Well, Martin was a top 10-15 prospect 2 months ago...then he all of a sudden fell to the mid 2nd almost. Seems kind fishy to me. And Tannehill was never really a true 1st round prospect. At best, he was a late first projection the past month or so and we took him at 8.

The right side of our line was an abomination last year. What good is it to have a wr if the qb isn't standing long enough to get him the ball? I'm good with our picks so far and the 3rd round I'm sure we're going wr with 1 or both pics.

We needed a franchise QB and took one. Philbin has stated multiple times he needs a very good offensive line to run his offense successfully, and we needed help at both. Why are these 2 picks so upsetting to you? This is what we need.

Now, get a WR and a pass rusher.

3 games that point out his positives and weakness (watching the whole video shows me that he seems to have more positives in run blocking than pass blocking, which goes against just about every scouting report)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xsB5VMPs7fU

3:53- Speed rusher dominates him on the inside (leads to hurry)
4:03- Speed rush dominates him to the outside (leads to hit on Luck)
4:23- Completely gives up on the play (leads to sack)
4:31- Gets beaten on the inside (leads to Luck being forced out of the pocket)
4:41- Run play, but still gets beat by a speed rush
4:50- Speed rush beats him to the outside (leads to sack)
5:02- Gets beaten on the inside (leads to hit on Luck)
5:12- Gets absolutely blown up by DE (leads to hurry)
5:21- Beaten by spin move (leads to hit on Luck and INT)
8:59- Gets blown up by DE
9:18- Beaten on the inside (leads to hurry and INT) - also looks like he got flagged with a hold on that play
12:16- Not a negative, but he's literally matched up on a guy that isn't even rushing the passer
12:52- Gets beaten by speed rush on outside (leads to safety)
13:00- Beaten by speed rush to the outside (leads to Luck being forced out of the pocket)
13:12- Again, beaten to the outside (forces Luck out of pocket)

and those are just his negatives on pass plays in 3 games from 2010. He has his fair share of negative plays in the run game, too. All of his videos point out his weakness against speed rushers. I would post more, but I think you all got the point.

You say you want playmakers. We drafted a qb the #1 playmaking position. We drafted an Olineman, without a line playmakers can't make plays. Whether people want to admit it or not oline & dline are playmakers as well.

Our TEs are Anthony Fasano, Jeron Mastrud, and Will Yeatman

I'll just leave that right there.

its actually a 20 something min video with gruden and there's no way you could have watched the game film and not atleast understood why we drafted him. Martin was rated a round 1 grade from most teams but due to runs at other positions he fell to us. The other picks you have a legit reason to be pissed.
