This guy happens to think we found the guy..

The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel's Bob McGinn suggests Dolphins third-round pick Olivier Vernon might turn out to be the best value pick in the draft.
It should be noted that McGinn is the most plugged-in draftnik in the nation. McGinn describes Vernon as a "tough guy, physical, explosive" and believes he should have been a second-round pick. Vernon's career path was headed for stardom as a sophomore before the Nevin Shapiro fiasco ruined his final college season. He will be a down defensive end in Kevin Coyle's 4-3 scheme. May. 5 - 11:51 am et

I know he was hella strong as a 19 year old kid, he got himself wrapped up in some sh&$, but at 19 he was handling tackles, sometimes like they were rag dolls..

Class act man, he was asked about the rough start to free agency from the fans perspective, he said that " the Miami dolphins organization hold a special place in his heart, for they are the ones that brought me to the NFL."

Ireland's baby, scouted him when he was a nobody, and now one of the games elite outside linebackers, and to think, some were talking about a 2 nd round pick for the guy..

I still get upset thinking about how this mans talent was abused his first year by whoever the hell was making the call to keep his *** on the bench..inactive for a few games as well, whatta joke..

well meister, the good news is that Wake is a gym rat and takes his training and body very seriously, and when you see these players that have drop offs in their game after they sign lucrative deals, it's because they don't work out as hard as they did when they were trying to get the deal, and that's because they probably weren't gym rats who understood optimum conditioning but did understand wanting the money, and when your trainng isn't what it should be,its going to affect you on the football field, the hunger to train has to come from the right place, and I believe with Wake, we have less risk in this circumstance of it going south, than any other player in the game..You wanna talk about a great example of leadership, this is the guy you wanna invest the money into because he literally can change the dynamics of how other players train their bodies, which can directly impact their performance.

He was playing behind Jason Taylor and Joey Porter.

I know PH, but it wasn't like this was a 22 year old rookie, and in what limited reps he did get when they put him out there, he was off the charts productive on his ratio, yet, the reps did not increase..Probably one of the most glaring indictments I've ever seen from a set of coaches, sh$) like that eventually gets you fired, know what i'am sayin...They didn't even use that 46 inch vertical on field goal defense..

official site says he signed thru 2016. So yes, four years on top of his original deal. I reckon he got a nice roster bonus and the cap hit on that would be this year. Hopefully someone will have the official terms, base #'s for each year.

this is a nice article about where Wake's contract falls compared to his peers at his position.

Are those numbers accurate, he got basically 50 mill over four, with 20 mill up front, leaving an average of 7.5 mill over 4, am I missing something here Pauly, Stitch?, if they are accurate and that's his place amongst other players not as good as him, I believe we got him for a very nice price in terms of what type of hit our salary cap will take, no?

The Canadian dollar is strong , but not that strong . It was 20 dollars , still that is an amazing display of athletic ability that has transferred to the playing field.

The $20m is guaranteed money, not necessarily up front money. He will get that $20m regardless (unless he breaks whatever language is written into the contract... ie goes out and commits murder or something, you get the idea). Ben's list that he posted in his blog is based only on the guaranteed money. Dolphins got a deal, but I think Wake got a pretty good deal too. You've got a player the wrong side of 30 who would have supposedly already peaked (although I think he's got a good two to three years ahead of him before you notice any decline in play). I always look at these mega contracts in terms of what is the cap hit. We don't know that yet for each year. That's the part I'm anxious to see.

It was the idiot coaches cowtowing to Joey Porter's ego. When they finally grew a pair and tried to make the switch Joey had a hissy fit.

It has nothing to do with Joey Porter. They could have pulled Jason Taylor, Charlie Anderson, etc. And even then they might have had legitimate reasons.
