I don't have to. Just saying it's funny that I make one comment about the similarities in those movies and panties everywhere are in knots.

I don't need to defend anything bc contrary to what you'd like to believe, I have no bias.

If I thought the Avengers was as amazing as everyone else did then I would of said it.

Ok, look, you argue better than this. Its late. Maybe you're tired. Pick this up tomorrow and maybe you can come up with some justification that Avengers bit off from ID that is more than the flimsy *** stuff you already said.

Again, I don't care what you thought of the movie, but the comparison you're making is just....well....Aquafin-ish.

    If you say so.

Maybe you should rewatch ID, I hear it's a terrific film.

Not that I expect you to have a different stance. You love Avengers but hate ID so why would I expect you to want to see any similarities between the two? It's ok.

There's a difference between similarities and biting from another source.

Again, there's similarities between James Bond and Batman that doesn't mean one bit off the other.

And that's open to a wide opinion.

It was very very similar to me and I'd of liked to of seen something more original but it's whatever

It certainly didn't change my opinion of the movie that much either way, but I just thought it was funny.

No its really not a matter of opinion.

Ok, it is because technically anything is. I mean i can say trees and rocks are similar because they occur naturally.

You're making it sound like they stole from ID and that's just effing insane. The two scenes are no more alike than any two fight scenes are alike.

But we get it, a popular movie has to have something for you to point out, because that's what the cool kids do.

 That statement is for people who can't take it when someone doesn't value something as highly as they do.

    You're usually better than that.

I don't like the Hunger Games and didn't think the Avengers was amazing. lol Well damn me all to hell.

Last time I checked, no one in The Avengers used a Mac to upload a virus into an alien mothership.
That plot point did not make sense. At all.

Apparently Phinz420 and myself are not the first people to be reminded of ID after seeing the Avengers.

It made sense in ID, they needed to find a way to turn off their shields.

I dunno. If they can get Bruce Timm involved, and they can recreate some of the awesome from the JL animated show, they could have something pretty special.

Did fin-d really just call jurassic park a stupid movie??!! The science behind it was pretty intelligent at the time. I think that alone makes jurassic park a smart movie.

The concept was awesome. The movie itself was stupid.

    1. Biologists/Zoologists have no idea that some frogs can change their sex? Really? They don't know that?
    2. The girl being able to "hack' the computer system, when the guy who helped Newman build it couldn't.
    3. Speaking of the computer system, why would a place with those kinds of security concerns be ok having a custom system built that when it fails every thing goes off line and is built by someone they obviously didn't do a background check on?
    4. Trying to say Chaos Theory accounted for the failure of the park.
    5. Also beating us over the head that "nature finds a way", when it wasn't nature, it was man that added frog dna and man that effed up the computer system that caused the catastrophes.
    6. And T-Rex saving the day at the end, was beyond cheese.

    1) Man is nature.
    2) We are nature therefore part of chaos theory.
    3) The frog dna wasn't expected to be exhibited in the movie. It was supposed to be filler. Chaos theory would come in with the species able to adabt to their situation and exhibit the frogs ability to change sex. THe movie didn't explain this, but the book does. Having said that I'd still say it fits chaos theory and such.
    4) Newman would also be part of chaos theory.
    5) Newman locked them out of the system. Believe it or not, at one point that was a problem. Its why they teach computer securit protocol now and no one user has super user ability.
    6) The girl hacking, well welome to hollywoods version of hacking. Its always super fast, which is bull****, and done by some super genius, which is usually also bull****.

Man is not part of nature for the purposes of this discussion. Otherwise, since all of this was man's doing, then nature did it all including putting itself in peril to the point it had to rebel against itself. That makes no sense.

Its not even that she did it quick, its that she hacked into custom software at all, when the guy that was part of it, Sam Jackson, couldn't do anything.

Not really. Newman himself is chaotic. You have multiple chaotic entities all effecting one another. How does that not make sense?
The fact its a self feeding system doesn't undermine the logic of it. At least not from what I see.

The whole point of saying, "nature will find away" is to point out nature cannot be controlled by man which is what was attempted. That context separates nature and man in this discussion.

At that time it was easier to get away with in a movie since most people didn't have the knowledge of computers and hacking that we do today.

This. How the hell would anyone be able to program a virus that affects the computer of an alien spaceship that we know nothinng about?
And wouldn't the aliens have some sort of Norton or something in case anyone decided to sabotage their systems? It was stated that the aliens have invaded worlds before so why wouldnt they take EVERY precaution possible?

And the alien fightercraft apparently operate just like our fighter jets so that any trained pilot can use them?

and lastly what do you think is going to happen when all of those alienships that just happen to be hovering above several cities get shot down? Hell the only reason why that one in the end managed to get blowed up was because of Randy Quaid.

So yeah, there are waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more plotholes in ID4 than in The Avengers.

(the reason why I remember this movie so vividly is because TNT loves to play the **** out of it)

Maybe they just had complete hubris at that moment and forgot basic military tactics. Which is why the first thing the aliens attacked were national monuments instead of military bases.

I view JP similar to the way I do ID4, which is that it worked way better when I was a kid than it does now. And The Avengers worked for me now, which I think shows it wasn't in their class. The "nature finds a way" thing bugs me too. It doesn't necessarily find a way. There is this thing called extinction. A lot of nature doesn't find a way, it just dies. So aside from the biologists not knowing the frog thing, they shoehorned this in to make some point about human's lack of control, which is also kind of a poor point because we can destroy anything.

That part was very Hollywood as the movie's special-effects wizards have long since confessed that they modeled their Velociraptor after the much bigger (and much more dangerous-looking) raptor Deinonychus.

All of these can be resolved by reading the book. The movie clumsily attempted to incorporate and explain these things but failed miserably. Nerd time:

    1. JP was published in 1989. It makes reference to a West German (as in, "this thing was written before the fall of the Berlin Wall") study that indicated some amphibian creatures can change gender in a single-gender environment. Grant hypothesizes that might have been what happened, since the Jurassic Park scientists used amphibian DNA to fill in missing gaps in the recovered dinosaur DNA structure. But to Grant, it's just a theory, and no one else in the book seems to have a grasp of what he's talking about, in part because he mentions it in passing just before diving in to a raptor cave.

    3. Everything went offline because Nedry took the systems offline intentionally. He intended to steal the dinosaur embryos and be back in 20 minutes and no one would notice that anything had gone down at all. In the book, Arnold discovers a command Nedry built in that restores all functionality but deletes any indication it had ever been in the system; that fact is mentioned in brief passing in the movie, but it's explored in greater detail in the book.

    4. Read the book, it's too complicated to explain here.

… Yeah, I like Michael Crichton books, okay?
