That's kind of what I envision, because Jonas Gray has some sweet feet and natural vision/instincts for the cutback game but he's also sort of just beginning his journey as far as being a big back and playing like a big back. You can tell that in the past maybe one reason he didn't rise up the depth chart was because despite being big he kept trying to play like a scatback, which is actually a problem I had with Shonn Greene coming out. But I know Jerome Bettis sort of took him aside and said listen you're a big guy like I was, I know where you're coming from because I had to do the same thing but if you're a big guy, play big, be a north-south guy. I think Jonas listened to him a little, and it paid off, and maybe it'll continue to pay off. Either way I think there's a will factor that is reflected in his touchdown success inside the tight red area, and also by that Pitt play where he didn't get caught by players that ultimately should run faster than Jonas in a track setting. Still raw but when you polish him up, think about the combination that Cierre Wood and Jonas Gray were for Notre Dame this year (1900 rushing yards on 330 carries, 177 all purpose yards per game, 21 TDs)...that's what I envision Miller and Gray could end up like in the right system.
The thing with Messam and Gray is how quickly they can pick up a NFL style offense. Jacque Chapdelene and Charlie Weis both ran complex offenses, the problem is neither player has much actual, on the field experience.
This information has been out fora while , but this is concisely grouped. http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/...phins-draft-picks-vision-0503,0,2286884.story
Admittedly I hadnt seen much of Gray, I hate ND and dont watch them. After hearing how much CK likes him I watched some highlites. I do agree there is potential. I loved his feet and balance, he just transitions with ease and he is powerful yet can run. Maybe we found gold in UDFA
It's like watching FOX or MSNBC no information just pundits Matt Millen grading drafts it's beyond me.
Awesome interview Chris, you can stand in with the best of them. Also happen to agree with your picks analysis as well. Thanks for sharing this with us Deej.
Finally got a chance to watch this. Very enjoyable interview-- grats on getting on MD.com. Very excited to see how this draft class pans-- I think we addressed a good number of needs this year and are finally setting ourselves up for the future.
I'm going to go ahead and say that, no, the Dolphins will not accredit a draft site as general media for purposes of attending practices.
Yeah, of everyone I listen to on Sirius NFL, if it weren't for Jim Miller he would be my least favorite. The show on that channel I appreciate the most (besides the pandering to Steelers fans) is Moving the Chains with Tim Ryan and Pat Kirwan. Especially Pat Kirwan. Those guys are very objective with their analysis and they take a very educational approach to discussing football. Gil Brandt is also great to listen to but he's usually paired up with one of the aforementioned clowns.
CK, congrats on the interview. Off topic but what's up with UniversalDraft.com? I've gone there a few times in the past year and seems like most of it is 2011 stuff. Am I just looking in the wrong spot?
To be honest we're mostly doing Twitter updates, the Sun Sentinel Draft Winds series, and I do articles for Bleacher Report. All three of us are very time constrained.
I see. Too bad you guys don't have the time for it, it's a website that's getting a lot of good publicity with these interviews and pieces you all do.
Yeah ck, I agree with MB. At one time, I was going to mention the same thing. With all of the well deserved pub you guys have been receiving as of late, it's a great time to keep the site as good and up to date as possible. I do remember that last season the position rankings were not up to date. I think you still had the previous year on there. I understand how busy you all must be with your other ventures. Maybe it's time to hire some young computer geek on the cheap and just feed him the info.
CK. Is it just me or does anyone else think Bush is one hit away from an injury and games missed? Is it asking too much for him to stay injury free for a 2nd consecutive season? He was superb last season and ive got my fingers crossed for Bush this season but the fact im thinking of Bush and injury in the same thought makes me feel like a doom merchant! Im not but our drafting of RB's imo is a great fall back by our Front office.
My phone won't keep up with the clip can't wait to get back home and listen. Ill try and hurry to get my cridict skills for you CK. But really CK great to see you have the opportunity to show off what you work so hard at conratz bud.
"Holy Schnikes!" Extensive, articulate answers offering a mixed variety of interesting points and supporting perspective, to address questions in an interview, and demonstrate a bit of the master guru-like consciousness that enlightens the threads of Club, and often brightens its pigskin parish.
Yeah, I think either that or have the interviewers stop saying, CK / etc. "From UniversalDraft.com". Less informed people might be inclined to say, "Well, why should I care what a guy from a dead website has to say?" Not that I or anyone on this board would think that. We know better!
