    No one argues that.

It makes him a horrible teammate though.

He was traded as a result of two consecutive philosophy shifts caused by incoming regimes. Let's not leave out that crucial fact in our rush to bash him for nameless locker room crimes.

Is that Richard Marshall you're referring to ?? I don't recall a Brandon Marshall on our team right now...LOL... Seriously, Deej, does it really matter what a player from another team says about us ?? The way I see it, he's burned his bridges already and while we may struggle to replace some of what he does on the field, we won't miss him in the locker room, on the sidelines or off the field with the distractions he created...

As to his talents in this scheme, I think he's wrong. Baby McDaniels ran a WCO as well. Remember Marshall also had the years that created his reputation in Denver under a version of the O we are going to be running now. I think his talents would fit very well in this O...He's faster and quicker than Driver ever was and tougher to bring down than Jennings (to use an analogy)... But I still think that addition by subtraction is the way you have to go sometimes...

Certainly he's trying to say the right things. It didn't go unnoticed, but the thing is, he knows how things can change in the NFL and next season he could be traded back to the jests, where Sparano is the OC or somewhere else where an assistant that he played under is there or a former coach may end up back in Chitown. Those were cursory "CYA" remarks, he's already burned those bridges.

Larry Fitzgerald and Andre Johnson have both conducted themselves with class it seems to me, and both are great receivers.

"Marshall said. “And also, if you don’t have a quarterback, it doesn’t matter who you have out there. You can bring Jerry Rice back in his prime and he’s not going to be effective"

Thats a shot...And he's full of sh&$, Rice would of had 3 times as many tds than him last year.

It's not even that it's a shot, it's an excuse for his play while he was here.

Throws our QBs under the bus and doesn't take any of the blame for his subpar performance or dumbass behavior. Typical.

Some of you guys need to stop treating Marsall as an ex-girlfriend and move on... Does it really matter what he thinks about the Dolphins now that he is no longer a member of the franchise in any way? I don't see the point of getting worked up over this at all.

I'm not anyway. TBH, I ain't listened to the clip of what he said on that link, and probably won't. He is no longer a Dolphin so for me he is persona non grata when it comes to offering an opinion of anything to do with the Dolphins.
He said what? Brandon who?

I didn't hear anything that got my blood boiling and in fact it sounded to me like a lot of the things Ireland probably told him about being traded. You know the old "its not you, its me speech".

Ireland: Brandon I've got some knews for you, we traded you to the Bears. Its not that we don't respect you and feel you are one of the elite wr in the league, but we are changing systems and the new system is based on spreading the ball around more. So it doesn't make a whole lot of sense for us to keep you here at that salary. Really this is a win/win for both of us.

Not getting worked up Grid, main purpose of the thread was to discuss scheme advantages or disadvantages as a result of the subtraction of this particular skillset..

As far as getting worked up, nah, just making sure he doesn't get the last shot..

I agree with everything Marshall said tbh. I think there's a reason we didn't use a high draft pick on a wr or sign one of the bigger ones in free agency this is a rebuild year to prep tannehill. I think we'll go after a wr we really want next year. It's going to be a test the water year for our current wr pool to see if any of them are worth anything.

Trowa, the only issue with Marshall's production is that it is superficial production for a WR since it wasn't up to the level of better WRs in the TD and dropped passes department. His problems with coaches and team mates, off the field issues (even tho he gets kudo's for bringing out his mental issues to the public) coupled with his penchant for dropping passes, particularly TD passes, he comes across as a whining baby that doesn't match his yardage and receptions...despite going back to his comfort zone with Cutler, (he bashed Cutler when he left Denver too), I think, like many, that they'll tire of his antics rather quickly...

Yes, they are. There has never been a substantive report on Brandon Marshall's supposed locker room atrocities. He has a mental illness and he occasionally yells at incompetent teammates on the sideline; that's about it.

For me, I like Brandon but receivers can be found. To basically rent a player for two years, get two productive years on the field and recoup 2 3rd's is a major win. All the while giving you cap relief for a player who at 29 is probably going to have 2-3 years left in his prime. Hes a good player but hes high maintenance.

At the very heart of it is the fact that most of us are homers. "Oh no he didn't!!! He called us homers!" Yeah, I did. I am too. We spend a good percentage of our time perusing a Miami Dolphins message board.

What this means is Miami Dolphin players, coaches, and even and especially GMs get the benefit of the doubt. As soon as these folks are not Miami Dolphins anymore they are dog****. Chad Henne, Tony Sparano, and now Brandon Marshall. There are examples of it everywhere. Folks will defend these players with thinly veiled homerism disguised as "sound logic". But once they're gone, time to cut bait and pile on.

I loved Brandon Marshall the player before he came here, while he played here, and I will continue to enjoy watching him play as long as it's not against the Dolphins. And I won't hold it against him for not being thrilled that our GM waited to make QB a priority until after he was gone.

Blaming Marshall for his actions really doesn't make much sense. He was already a problem child with the Broncos, yet Ireland decided a few years ago to give up two second round draft picks for him. The fact that he was nothing but a selfish player who cared only about his individual stats should come as no surprise to anyone who saw how he behaved in Denver.

His latest comments regarding Moore don't upset me because they are what I would expect from someone like Marshall. What upsets me is the fact the Dolphins front office, (Ireland), traded for him in the first place.

His so called mental, or psychiatric issues, are a convenient excuse for him to have free reign to act like the ******* he is. It is amazing to me that there are still some Dolphins fans that still fail to understand two things:

    1. This is Brandon Marshall. He is a cancer. He is a young, asshat who has been traded by two teams in his short NFL career already. The guy is nothing more than another version of Terrell Owens, only that Owens didn't have the off the field issues that Marshall brings.
    2. It is not that hard to replace the production of a receiver who only got that production because of the high volume of passes that went his way.

There are a few things you guys need to realize:

    1. You don't have to have a Brandon Marshall to win.
    2. Wide receivers are not that important because their production is directly tied to the quarterback.
    3. High volume receivers do not win games.

Thats not true, your not gonna hear me trash Sparano nor Henne, for two reasons, one, they gave us their best while they were here, and two, they didn't insult other players for their own benefit..I hope Henne beats out Gabbert and becomes successful, I can't wish Sparano success because he is on the enemy's team, but I wouldn't be surprised if he make the wildcat and that offense better than it was..Getting the ball out of Sanchezs hands and implementing a hybrid style with the best wildcat Qb prospect there is, is nothing to take lightly IMO.

Being eager to talk about one's favorite team doesn't constitute homerism. Being eager to dismiss, cover up, or otherwise spin one's favorite team's flaws constitutes homerism.

Ireland was the teams GM when the trade was made. If he didn't want Marshall on the team, why didn't he just trade Marshall after the 2010 season since Parcells was no longer with the team?
Perhaps it is you who should prove that Parcells was responsible for the Marshall trade in the first place.
