Oh you can bet on that. Nobody wants to be the tub of goo on HBO that keeps struggling to make weight.

Only real concern I have is for the rookies. They're the least-equipped to handle the distraction that Hard Knocks could pose. Most of them won't be used to the kind of fish bowl even normal NFL players live in, let alone the players featured on Hard Knocks. Hard Knocks really likes to focus on the young guys and the bubble players, too...focusing on their struggle to make the team. They create drama where there maybe isn't as much. They need to make it seem up and down for the viewer. The problem is, the episodes air during camp and the players themselves can watch and get those same feelings of up and down. A young player could get caught up watching Hard Knocks and think he's about to get cut, seeing the way they portray him on the show. That could get him down or make him desperate.

If I had any advice to give to the rookies, it would be to not watch the show. Just don't watch it. Make it into the season, then watch it some time later when you can look back and laugh at it, and think to yourself that a whole lot has happened between now and then.

Thing is Ck, the NFL is designed to weed out the mentally weak, and desperation is another term for motivation.

My guy BJ Cunningham is dropping to many passes, to me it would be a good thing if he had the fear of the Turk instilled into him.

Yes, but there's something to be said for the simple fact that EVERY rookie is mentally weak compared with what he'll be when he's been in the league a few years. That alone introduces the potential of undue strain doing things to a guy's career that aren't necessary.

Actually, from what I've read, Ross was not in favor of this and Philbin talked Ross into it. Doesn't sound right to me but that's what I've read.

Personally I love this, can't wait to tape every episode and watch them over and over.

The players report for training camp on July 26, and filming starts that day. All five episodes air on HBO on Tuesdays at 10 p.m. starting Aug. 7, and will re-air on Wednesdays at 11 p.m.

Even with no superstar material, this thread still gets posted up.
